This computer was included in the priority list of the update delivery on the very first day of its release, but the Fall Creators Update (which, we recall, build 1709) did not want to be installed. What to do to still get the update? And in such a case as this, and then when a PC or laptop was not included in the number of priority devices.
Microsoft adheres to the position that there is no need to rush with the update, and if it did not appear in the early days, then you just need to wait for your turn, when everything appears in the Update Center by itself. Note: Friends, in my test cases, the update was relatively successful. The only bugs that turned out to be Alice (a voice assistant from Yandex). I solved this problem by reinstalling the program. Method number 1. Update centre
So, the easiest way is to go to the Update Center and run the check.
If this does not happen, but the system attempts to download build 1709, we recall what we did with the Update Center - did we change the terms of delivery of updates. We turn to additional parameters.

Method number 2. MediaCreationTool Utility

This method is in many ways similar to the previous one, but allows users to choose the storage path for the Windows distribution themselves and specify the HDD partition for this purpose. Fluent Design will be implemented not only in the system shell interface, but also in almost all embedded applications.
As part of the implementation of the new visual language Fluent Design, the Start menu has been seriously redesigned. The menu now uses the new Acrylic design if transparency is enabled in the settings. The menu can be resized not only horizontally, but also diagonally. Handwriting and Stylus Operation
Keeping in mind the general concept of the Fluent Design System, the developers decided to improve stylus support in Windows to make it easier to navigate the entire operating system using this tool. Improvements have been made to the conversion of handwritten text to typed text in Microsoft Edge, the ability to scroll through content with the stylus has been added, and text selection has been made faster. The stylus scrolling feature is currently only available in UWP apps, but Microsoft plans to implement it for desktop (Win32) apps as well.

The new touch keyboard is part of the new design concept of CShell, which provides for the use of responsive interfaces that can be used on any device, be it smartphones, tablets or computers.

Power throttling
Microsoft began experimenting with the Power Throttling feature back in the insider Creators Update, but the new feature didn't make it into the final release. It looks like Microsoft will only add it in the Fall Creators Update.
This feature allows Windows to automatically put the processor into power efficiency mode while it is running background tasks. This measure will save battery power and extend the autonomy of the portable device. Windows will automatically identify applications that are running in the background, such as audio players and other important tasks, and will not deplete resources for them. According to Microsoft, the new feature will reduce CPU consumption by 11 percent when the PC is heavily used.
You can control this function from the battery management slider, which opens when you click on the battery icon in the system tray. In power saving mode and balanced mode, Power Throttling will be enabled. The function is disabled in “Maximum Performance” mode.
You can also disable this feature for individual apps by going to Settings\u003e System\u003e Battery. Just select an application and set the "Managed by Windows" option to "Off" and uncheck the "Reduce background activity of the application" checkbox.
According to Microsoft, this feature only works with processors that support Intel Speed \u200b\u200bShift technology - 6th generation Intel Core (Skylake) processors and newer processors. Microsoft plans to expand processor support during the Fall Creators Update.
Windows Mixed Reality Controllers
Microsoft has announced motion controllers for Windows Mixed Reality helmets, which will be supported with the Creators Update. Protection against ransomware, exploits and other security improvements
The latest functional update for Windows will add new security features.
New feature " Controlled folder access"in Windows Defender Security Center, you can protect folders from unauthorized changes by applications. If an unknown application tries to modify files in these folders, the user will receive a warning. This feature helps protect data from ransomware and other malicious applications.
To enable this feature, go to Windows Defender Security Center\u003e Virus & threat protection\u003e Controlled folder access. Set the switch to the "On" position. and select the links "Protected folders" and "Allow the application to access protected folders" to configure the function.

The Windows Defender Application Guard feature is unfortunately only available for Enterprise editions of Windows. When an employee views a website that the organization does not trust, Guard uses Hyper-V virtualization technology to create a new instance of the Windows operating system at the hardware level, running the website in Microsoft Edge on a separate copy of Windows. Installing Ubuntu, openSUSE and Fedora from the App Store

Advanced privacy options
Microsoft has decided to expand the privacy settings of Windows 10, continuing the work begun in the Creators Update.
When you set up a new system, you will see a privacy statement from Microsoft with information about what data is collected from your computer. During the installation process, you can also click the "Learn More" link to view additional information about the meaning of certain privacy settings.
Additionally, Windows Store apps will now be display access request to various computer resources such as camera, microphone, contacts, and calendar. Previously, the request was only displayed when trying to access your location data.
Users of corporate editions of Windows 10 can limit the collection of diagnostic data to the minimum required according to Windows Analytics.
Linking a smartphone to a computer
In the Settings application, a new "Phone" section will appear, which will help you configure the connection between your computer and mobile device... This function will allow in the future to achieve deeper integration, but at the moment it is possible to send links from a smartphone to a computer for further viewing.

- New fontWindows 10 now includes the Bahnschrift font, which is the standard font used on road signs in Germany and most of Europe. By default, it is disabled in the interface, but is available in Windows.
- Advanced resources for UWP games: Games built on the UWP platform can use up to 6 processor cores, 5 gigabytes of memory, and all available graphics core resources. Microsoft has been continually improving the initially highly limited UWP platform since the release of Windows 10.
