The frenzied popularity of the iPhone 6 prompts Chinese smartphone manufacturers to think that mimicry for this bestseller may well bring their "offspring" the desired interest from the consumer. To be honest, the cost of an "apple phone" will seem unaffordable to the overwhelming majority of ordinary people, so the demand for similar-looking devices in the world remains stably high. And we are no longer talking about a banal "Chinese copy", which only slightly resembles an iPhone from afar, but in terms of functionality and performance characteristics it does not match it and is close. Today, such reputable brands from the Middle Kingdom as Huawei, Lenovo and ZTE have brought their smartphones with the appearance of the iPhone 6 to the market. And the "brainchild" of ZTE, called Blade S6 and Blade S6 Plus, may well become a full-fledged replacement for the famous prototype in the market segment where the price of the device plays a more important role than the brand's pathos.

Can you buy an iPhone 6 for $ 250?

In the photo on the left is the ZTE Blade S6, and on the right is the iPhone 6

Consumers "in the know" know that "apple" costs at least $ 750. Therefore, a smartphone with the same dimensions and design solutions as a product from Apple for $ 250-280 is simply doomed to become the center of public attention. Moreover, both the "stuffing" of the Blade S6 and its more expensive copy with the Plus prefix is \u200b\u200bin line with today's standards of "smartphone building". And the fact that we are talking about a device from a Chinese manufacturer should not scare the buyer, because ZTE knows how to make modern gadgets. The proof is the smartphones of the Nubia series, whose performance is quite capable of plugging the flagships of many competitors.

Blade S6 bet on popular design

The Blade S6 has a 5-inch screen, while its fellow Blade S6 Plus boasts a 5.5-inch screen. If you take a quick look at these devices, you will get the illusion that you are looking at the famous iPhone 6. A similar silhouette of a smartphone, a similar large gap between the bottom of the screen and the edge of the case, and aluminum color. But the last factor is fraught with a fair amount of deception, because, unlike the famous prototype, the body of the smartphone from ZTE is made of plastic, not metal. It's funny that there is an inscription Designed by ZTE in California, assembled in China on the back of the case, completely copying the corresponding marking of the iPhone.

The ZTE Blade S6 screen, built on an IPS matrix, produces a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels with a density of 294 ppi. This is no longer the trivial TFT display previously used on copies of the iPhone, so the user will receive a good quality image with a high degree of naturalness, anti-glare characteristics and wide viewing angles. Capricious researchers argue that such a display will not master the Full HD format, but it will certainly cope with the usual tasks for a smartphone.

So that the ZTE Blade S6 screen does not quickly lose its presentable appearance due to scratches, it was covered with oleophobic protection and durable glass. For the sake of keeping up with fashion trends, the glass was slightly rounded at the edges, which added piquancy to the design. Testing has shown that the screen on the Blade S6 does not look completely natural due to the lightening effect, which is accompanied by faded colors and shallow depth of shadows. There is also an overabundance of blue in the overall color balance.

Inside the ZTE Blade S6

The designers shoved a fairly nimble 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor into the ZTE Blade S6 series smartphones. To help this 64-bit CPU, delivering a frequency from 1 to 1.5 GHz, equipped with 2 GB random access memory... To perform average modern user tasks, such a "filling" is quite enough. The 2400 mAh battery is not very durable, so the screen will turn off after 6 hours of watching a video or after 8 hours of continuous use of the Internet.

As befits a "Chinese" smartphone has slots for 2 SIM-cards, which traditionally in the mode of making a call can only work one by one. In addition, only one card can provide Internet access, and the second will work exclusively for communication.

ZTE Blade S6 is just a smartphone

Those who are accustomed to using a smartphone as a replacement for a music player will appreciate the presence of an amplifier in the device and the ability to adjust the sound to Hi-Fi standards. In headphones, the sound is juicy and very loud, but of course, it does not reach the standards that expensive players give out. Likewise, the ZTE Blade S6 does not claim to be a full replacement for a modern camera. The main 13-megapixel camera with F2.0 aperture and Sony IMX214 sensor is capable of shooting in HDR mode and adding effects the user needs. Its technical capabilities are sufficient for shooting Full HD video, but in conditions of insufficient visibility, this camera will not be able to take either high-quality photos or watched video. But the 5-megapixel selfie camera is endowed with a panoramic shooting function, which allows you to take fairly good pictures of yourself in front of something large.

Powered by a smartphone from ZTE based on Android, which has an interface entirely similar to iOS. This made it possible to eliminate the archaism of the Android main menu and achieve even greater similarity with the "apple" smartphone. The user can quite strongly individualize the style of the interface design. In addition, interesting options will be available to him: the ability to accept an incoming call by bringing the phone closer to the ear, lower the sound volume by rotating the device 180 degrees, or turn on the next track on the player by shaking the device.

Conclusion and price

The ZTE Blade S6 smartphone does not at all claim to be the flagship, because this manufacturer sees the Nubia Z9 model in this role, which cannot be suspected of copying someone else's design. The phone we are considering was originally conceived as a cheap copy of the iPhone 6 with a similar appearance and with average technical capabilities, but quite sufficient for a poor user. The cost of such a smartphone is $ 250, which is three times less than the cost of an iPhone. In terms of price, design and performance characteristics, this gadget is comparable to Lenovo S60.

Video review ZTE Blade S6:

There are a lot of smartphones today. And their price category is also different: from too expensive to quite budgetary. Against the background of all this diversity, the product of the Chinese (and do not be afraid of this word) company ZTE - Blade S6, stands out, the review of which is presented here.

A little about the manufacturer

Almost everyone knows the modern folk saying that the whole world is made in China. Therefore, you should not be afraid that there is an inscription made in China on the box with this or that product. Moreover, the industrial brand China is significantly different from the handicraft products collected on the knee. So the company ZTE, the motto of which has become the phrase "Tomorrow never waits", has rapidly burst into the Russian market, is a manufacturer of branded smartphones. And in Russia it is gaining more and more popularity.

Smartphone specifications

Naturally, the first thing that interests a more or less experienced owner of a modern smartphone is what the device is equipped with, what it is capable of. And in this regard, the ZTE Blade S6 has very, very decent characteristics. Under the plastic, metal-painted non-removable body, there are quite powerful and solid components.

CPU

For those who are just about to purchase their first smartphone, the name of the processor, as well as its capabilities, are just a bunch of letters and words. But for an experienced user, rather, something like a code word by which you can determine how solid the device is in front of him. And here the ZTE Blade S6 smartphone does not disappoint. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. It should be noted that, according to the manufacturer, this is the first eight-core processor in a 64-bit system. And, believe me, this is really solid hardware. With 2 GB of RAM, the smartphone turns into a real gaming center that can handle any advanced and modern game. Not to mention the fact that the concepts of "freezing", "plugging" generally disappear from the owner's lexicon in relation to his gadget. The ZTE Blade S6 (which is currently being reviewed) does a really good job of multitasking and heavyweight gaming.

Memory and its possibilities

The ZTE Blade S6 smartphone, the characteristics of which we are reviewing, has built-in 16 GB of free memory. Of these, only 13 GB with a little are available to the user, since the operating system still takes on a lot. For those who also lack this space, there is a slot for a memory card. Naturally, microSD. Supports up to 64 GB. That is, with some effort, a smartphone can replace a full-fledged personal computer. Not to mention the tablet, by the way. What's nice is that all applications can be transferred to a memory card, so as not to keep them on the "native". And this makes the use of the device even more rosy.

Appearance

Perhaps this is also an important criterion when choosing a smartphone. Especially for modern young people and girls who want not only a productive apparatus, but also beautiful in appearance. The ZTE Blade S6, reviewed below, does not disappoint. Even though the device looks like an apple gadget "iPhone 6" to many, they don't have so much in common. And those who held a real Apple iPhone 6 in their hands will not confuse it with anything. So, ZTE Blade S6 compares favorably with its android counterparts protective glass... It does not rest against the side edges of the smartphone, as in many models, which makes the operation of the touch screen more pleasant and comfortable - the finger does not touch the sidewalls. A monolithic (non-removable) plastic case is made, but of very high quality, which does not creak or slip in the hand. And there are no prints left on it.

Cameras

Many modern telephones are equipped with a camera. Even the most budgetary ones. And many quite expensive smartphones, by the way, have very mediocre cameras built in. But not in the Blade S6. There is really something to be proud of here. The ZTE Blade S6, which we are currently reviewing, is equipped with two cameras of very decent quality. The front one with a resolution of 5 megapixels is ideal for high-quality selfies and video calls. And it really gives out the declared 5 megapixels, which pleases. The front 13 megapixel camera will give odds to a budget camera! Yes, it was not without flaws, sometimes autofocus does not work properly, macro photography also does not always function smoothly. But in general it depends more on how skillful hands are using the camera, and not on the camera itself. If we compare with some famous flagship model, then the same Samsung Galaxy S4 with the same 13 megapixel camera works more clearly. But the price category at the start of sales for the models is very different, so you should not expect a super-fabulous result. The camera at ZTE works out its money completely. Yes, and all the "gadgets" for shooting the model is enough, an additional application for processing is not required.

Equipment

There can be no claims to her. It is quite standard: a smartphone, charger (it is a USB cable), instructions, a clip for SIM cards. The rear panel of the device is rather boring: brand name, place of production. Therefore, it is also often compared with the iPhone 6. But still it is fundamentally different devices, which should not be forgotten. A headset, like other ZTE models, is not included in the kit. Frankly speaking, standard headphones always leave much to be desired. The exception, perhaps, is the same Apple, where the headsets are presented at a decent level.

Summary and review: everything about everything

So what about the ZTE Blade S6 that took so long to review? This is a very decent model with a five-inch screen. The coating, by the way, is oleoflobic - it does not leave fingerprints on it. Although the film is still required, because it protects against scratches during very active use. In addition to the already familiar five-inch screen, the smartphone has two very good cameras, powerful hardware, nice design. And, despite the fact that the candy bar is made of plastic, it looks very nice and stylish. The device lies very comfortably in the hand, both in the right and in the left. It does not strive to slip out in case of careless movement, so you can use it without fear before buying a cover.

Equipped with a smartphone is not the most powerful battery of 2400 mAh. It will still not be enough for full use, although it will be enough for daylight hours. And, of course, the fresh "Android"! Version 5.0 allows the device to "fly" during operation without any lags or freezes. ZTE Blade S6 Silver (a beautiful silvery shade) is a truly worthy model for use, especially since after the start of sales the price slightly dropped, approaching the digestible level of 11-12 thousand rubles. And, of course, one cannot compare a smartphone with a well-known "apple" brand, because among them they have only size and color, the constituent being fundamentally different.

Accessories

What else do smartphone owners care about? Availability of fashionable accessories for them. And here the ZTE Blade S6 does not disappoint. It is not difficult to pick up a cover for it on a popular Chinese trading platform. As well as the fashionable bumper, overlays and the back silicone tab. By the way, tempered glass can also be purchased for this model, so that in case of an unexpected fall, it is not the screen and the plastic case of the device that will suffer, but only this very glass. By the way, the "apple" gadgets also have this protection system, which again is not supplied in the kit. There is no need to talk about headphones - a 3.5 mm jack allows you to choose any that are suitable in shape, color and size.

Customer opinions

The owners of ZTE Blade S6 leave a wide variety of reviews about their smartphone. Someone likes all the available functions and "tricks", someone is not too happy with certain moments. On the whole, the buyers are satisfied - the device functions perfectly for its money. Two SIM cards work well, the sound is acceptable, the cameras are decent, the operating system has no lags. What else is needed in a modern apparatus? ZTE Blade S6 Silver, reviews of experts about which also remain at their best, deserves attention when choosing a reliable and faithful smartphone for daily use. The only thing that needs improvement, both in the opinion of professionals and in the opinion of users, is the battery, which is still not enough for full use.

"Light" version

Not every manufacturer, after the release of a more or less successful model, decides to create a budgetary and "stripped-down" analogue. But ZTE did it. Perhaps not in vain, but, as the practice of sales has shown, after all, Russians are not too fond of the "light" version. So, what has the ZTE Blade S6 Lite lost in comparison with its more "experienced" brother? First, the camera. If the front one remained at 5 MP for cool and clear selfies, as well as acceptable video communication, then the main one lost these same 5 MP, becoming only 8 MP instead of 13 MP. On the one hand, this does not bother much, on the other hand, the difference in the pictures is striking.

Secondly, the device lost its powerful processor and eight cores. Instead of them - four, but still fully working cores and a processor Not the newest, but time-tested enough. This, of course, affected performance, but not so much - the smartphone does not glitch, it works without critical errors and failures, although it sometimes freezes on heavy and demanding games. So the settings of the latter will have to be removed from the maximum.

Thirdly, memory is also curtailed. Instead of 2 GB of RAM - 1, and instead of 16 GB of internal - only 8. MicroSD memory cards are also supported only up to 32 GB instead of 64.

Fourthly, although the screen coating remains oleoflobic, it is already somewhat different. Fingerprints are more and more visible, and they are getting worse and worse. But the screen size remained unchanged - five inches.

Is "light" worth the money?

The cost of the S6 Lite today is only a couple of thousand rubles less than the full-fledged, not stripped-down version. Therefore, choosing between these two models, you should not skimp too much. If we compare the ZTE Blade S6 Lite with other budget models, then it is definitely no worse. It is not difficult to choose accessories for it, the smartphone works out its money in full. We can safely recommend it for purchase. Although it is worth remembering that the device "cut down" in functionality will not be as productive and nimble. However, many buyers do not need this now.

Plus version

In 2015, almost every smartphone manufacturer considered it necessary to release not just a successful model, but also its analogue marked "plus". ZTE is no exception. Perhaps they were right, because more and more often people began to need more than just good smartphones, but also large for easier use. So the ZTE Blade S6 Plus with a diagonal of 5.5 inches was released. Big, beautiful, powerful, with a 3000mAh battery! Yes, it was a very good move - to increase the battery capacity so that you do not rush from outlet to outlet, so that you can normally surf the Internet or play games. In general, they say about the S6 Plus version as follows: like the S6, only more. And indeed: the filling is all the same as that of the original model. But due to the larger screen and battery, using the smartphone is much more comfortable and enjoyable. The cost, by the way, is not much higher - 2-3 thousand rubles more than the Blade S6, active sim cards stay in place - they work without complaints and failures.

The smartphone company ZTE presented on January 28 in Hong Kong. At launch, the retail price was $ 249.99. It is sold all over the world thanks to Amazon and eBay. This is how the ZTE Blade S6 is implemented at the start. As stated, the warranty for it is "international": you can apply for warranty repairs at the local service center in most countries (including Russia)

The ZTE Blade S6 is easy to recognize the design of the smartphone Apple iPhone 6. In copying, ZTE did not hesitate.

The price for this smartphone may seem definitely overpriced, because at first glance it is very similar in technical characteristics (HD-screen 5 ", 2 GB RAM, 13 megapixel camera, 4G) on the same AliExpress is offered for about $ 140. But ZTE Blade S6 can answer not only a more powerful processor, but also some advanced features, which are discussed below.

Although the smartphone received the design of the famous Apple iPhone 6, the body is still plastic (the back cover is only painted to resemble metal). ZTE has decided not to follow Lenovo's path. But the frame of the case, as stated, in the ZTE Blade S6 is metal.

ZTE Blade S6 received a powerful 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 graphics. This processor has 8 Cortex-A53 cores that operate at different frequencies: 4 cores at 1.5 GHz, 4 cores at 1 GHz. By the way, this is the first smartphone with this processor to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop. RAM: 2GB DDR3.

Chips

The screen is made using In-Cell technology, thanks to which it has excellent picture quality and good brightness, as well as a responsive sensor. Also, thanks to the screen with this technology, it was possible to make the body of the smartphone quite thin - 7.7 mm.

It is possible to control the smartphone using gestures. For example, to start the music, just hold the phone in your hand and draw the "V" symbol in the air. Also, for example, you can quickly turn on the flashlight by simply shaking the phone. Thanks to the built-in sensors, the ZTE Blade S6 has a number of other convenient features: the phone screen is automatically locked in the pocket; the sound of an incoming call is muted if you cover the screen with your hand.

The 13 megapixel camera has a Sony Exmor IMX214 module. 5 lenses, autofocus, f / 2.0 aperture. Acceptable pictures can be obtained even in low light conditions. Well, on a sunny day, the photos will be of excellent quality.

Thanks to AliveShare technology, you can exchange information between phones at high speed without Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (of course, both phones must support the technology).

Nice proprietary interface MiFavor 3.0 has numerous customization options.

Fans of good sounding music will be satisfied, because the smartphone produces high quality Hi-Fi sound.

Introduction

The device was announced earlier this year, and sales began exclusively in some well-known foreign online stores. Actually, from there he came to us to review the ZTE Blade Z6. However, while he was getting a whole month by our esteemed mail to the point of issue (judging by the track code, he was completely lost), sales in Russia began quietly and peacefully.

What is remarkable about this model? First of all, it is worth highlighting that Blade S6 (again the six in the name - Apple iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S6 and so on) runs on the Android Lollipop operating system. At the moment, there are very few 5.0 devices, and even more so not very expensive ones. I can't say that this is the coolest feature, but the system allows the shell to "fly" without any brakes and microlags.

Secondly, the gadget is equipped with a new 64-bit processor from Qualcomm. Of course, 8-core is the trend of 2015. The device is fast enough, but not as productive as it turned out.

Thirdly, despite the "love" of almost all manufacturers to "roll out" phablets, Blade S6 is one of the compact smartphones (among devices with similar parameters) with a thickness of 7.7 mm.

As a feature - support for 4G in our networks.

At first glance, it turned out to be an extremely successful device, however, as they say, "the devil is in the details." Therefore, I will try to tell you more about these details.

At the moment, ZTE Blade S6 can be bought for about 16,000 rubles. In the online store where I took it, with various discounts and coupons (at the end of the review it is) they offer a device for 12,000 - 13,000 rubles.

Design, dimensions, controls

The ZTE Blade S6 smartphone is a rectangular device with smooth corners and a streamlined body. Appearance, as always, reminds of "apple" products, at least to me personally. It is executed quite neatly and looks, in general, quite good.

The glass on the front panel is nicely done: it floats to the side edges. Therefore, the swipe movements are even more convenient - the finger does not rest on the sides. The back side is flat and smoothly passes to the ends of the body. In general, the result is a "remnant", as it is fashionable to talk about phones of this form nowadays.

Despite the fact that the manufacturer does not indicate which specific company installed the glass, I can say this: during the testing (I carried the smartphone with various gadgets in a bag, in a pocket, in a beard) the glass remained intact - no chips or minor scratches. In addition, it is worth noting the excellent quality of the oleophobic coating. The prints are practically invisible, and they are erased very quickly. The finger glides on the glass surface easily and smoothly.

The bezel backing is white. The rest of the body is made of semi-glossy silver plastic. For a couple of weeks of active use of the ZTE Blade S6, scratches or scuffs did not appear on the back side. However, over time, it seems to me, the paint will gradually wear off. I think the use of such material is not the most reasonable move, it is completely impractical.

The smartphone is relatively slippery, although it fits well in the hand thanks to the streamlined body shape and small dimensions (144x70x7.7 mm, weight 134 grams).

The assembly is not entirely successful: the device creaks and crunches when squeezed in the hand. In general, it is felt that the company saved on materials as best it could. Perhaps this is the main drawback of this device.

On top of the front of the gadget are: camera, speaker, light and proximity sensors. The speaker has an average volume, almost always you want to make it louder, but the level is already at the maximum. The quality is also average. I don’t know about you, but the high volume of the earpiece is extremely important for me - this is perhaps the most important parameter in the phone. However, in the race for performance and other parameters, it seems that they forget that a smartphone is not only a device for accessing the network, but a camera and a music player.

There are no questions about the sensors - they work correctly.

Under the screen there are two touch-sensitive buttons headed by the central one in the form of a small circle with a blue rim. They have blue backlighting. It is pleasant, does not blind the eyes, but it glows brightly. The circle acts as a "Home" button, can light up and go out smoothly while skipping various events. I just didn't like the fact that the touch buttons have a small touch zone, that is, to work, for example, "Home", you need to hit the mug exactly. Or maybe their sensitivity is weak ...

At the bottom there is a micro-USB connector and a microphone. At the top - 3.5 mm audio output for headphones. On the left there is a slot for a memory card (metal skids), and just below there are slots for installing two nanoSIM cards. Why and why exactly "nano", I do not understand, you might think that someone is going to switch from Apple to ZTE.

On the right edge are the power button and volume rocker. Both are practically recessed into the body, have a clear pressure, there is no characteristic "click" sound. In general, it is quite convenient to use.

Back side: recessed camera, flash, second microphone and speaker. Despite the fact that there is a small plastic bump near the speaker, most often the sound is still muffled even on a flat horizontal surface.

Total. A very easy-to-use smartphone, it lies well in the hand, but it crunches slightly when squeezed, relatively slippery and completely plastic.

Display

This device uses a 5-inch screen. The physical size is 62x111 mm, the frame at the top is 14.5 mm, at the bottom - 18 mm, on the right and left - about 4 mm each. Official sources claim that it is 2.2 mm, but they measure the distance incorrectly, from the side to the black strip. Anti-reflective coating is present, but not very effective.

The display resolution of the ZTE Blade S6 is HD, that is, 1280x720 pixels, the aspect ratio is 16: 9, and the density is 293 pixels per inch. IPS matrix without air gap.

The maximum brightness for white is 345 cd / m2, the maximum brightness for black is 0.62 cd / m2. Contrast - 555: 1.

The yellow line in the luminance graph is actual data. You can see that we are exactly on the target curve, which means that for every value between 0 and 100, the image is optimally bright.

The average gamma value is 2.0. Almost perfect.

Judging by the level chart, there is a clear excess of blue and a lack of red.

The average temperature is 8800 K.

Based on the diagram, the data obtained corresponds to the sRGB triangle.

It is interesting that our values \u200b\u200bspeak of not the best matrix: low brightness, low contrast, not quite natural color shades. However, visually, I really liked the screen. So think about what to believe, dry numbers or your own eye.

Battery

This model uses a 2400 mAh non-removable lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery. The manufacturer does not provide data on autonomy.

The operating time of the gadget is exactly the same as that of any other Android smartphone of this class, i.e. "Lives" for about 10 hours in a relatively active mode with a 4G connection: 20-30 minutes of talks, about an hour of using the camera, the same amount of video viewing, 3-4 hours in twitter and mail. If you want to play, then count on about 2 hours at full brightness and full volume when outputting to the speaker.

The ZTE Blade S6 lasted just over one day with my use (constant Wi-Fi, infrequent calls).

In general, the battery is weak, but I have enough of it in most situations.

Communication capabilities

The device works not only in 2G / 3G networks (GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, WCDMA 900/2100 MHz, SIM2), but also 4G CAT 4 (FDD-LTE 800/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz, SIM1 ) thanks to Qualcomm RF360.

In addition, the device supports Wi-Fiac with Multi-User MIMO (allows an access point with 802.11ac to transmit two spatial streams to two or more client devices simultaneously), Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 with OTG function, GPS (Qualcomm IZat Gen8C).

There is no NFC chip here.

Memory and memory card

The developers did not save on RAM, so in this model you can find 2 GB of RAM 64-bit dual-channel 800 MHz LPDDR3 (12.8 GB / sec). On average, about 1.3 GB of free space - a very good result!

The built-in memory is 16 GB, but only 8 GB is available for the user. There is a slot for a microSD memory card. The maximum size is 64 GB.

Camera

The main module has a resolution of 13 MP (Sony Exmor IMX214, size 1 / 3.06 ", cell size 1.12 µm x 1.12 µm), front - 5 MP. There is a one-section LED flash. Rear camera aperture - F2.0, front - F2. 6.

Judging by the parameters, there should be one of the coolest cameras here. Alas, this is only a theory. In practice, you get mediocre quality. I think the point is in the software that ZTE could not "finish". The main complaint is the huge amount of noise in the frames. If in good lighting the photo turns out to be a "four", then at dusk there is an unambiguous "two": poor detail, noise, and so on.

The focus is often mistaken, the exposure often does not work correctly, especially in the Pro mode (in which you can select the focus and exposure points separately).

The front-facing camera is ordinary, unremarkable, the viewing angle is relatively wide, but not maximum.

The device shoots video in FullHD resolution at 30 fps during the day and 24 fps at night. The quality of the clips is average, the focus is "tachem". Sound recording is quiet, mono. "Frontalka" also shoots FullHD video.

Performance

The ZTE Blade S6 smartphone is equipped with a new 64-bit chip from QUALCOMM. The model was named Snapdragon 615. There are eight cores in total, but they are formed from four ARM Cortex-A53 cores at 1.7 GHz and four more ARM Cortex-A53 cores at 1 GHz. 28nm LP process technology, ARMv8 instruction set. Depending on the load and the operation being performed, either 4 "powerful" cores or 4 "weak" ones are included.

Responsible for the graphics Qualcomm Adreno 405 GPU (550 MHz) with support for Open GL ES 1.x, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, TS & GS; Open CL 1.2full; RenderScript and Direct X 11.2.

If we talk about the speed of the interface, launching applications, and so on, then everything is fine with this: no microlags, brakes and freezes. I think this is not thanks to 8 cores, but thanks to Android Lollipop.

As for performance, it is not very high. Many games slowed down decently at maximum graphics values.

GTA SA - slows down, it's impossible to play

Dungeon hunter 4 - sometimes slows down, you can play

Dead trigger 2 - rarely, but it happens that frames sag

Software platform

As I said at the beginning of the review, the main pleasant feature of this model is the availability of a fresh version operating system Google Android 5.0. While the rest of the "Chinese" are "finishing" 4.4.4, ZTE decided to immediately "roll out" Lollipop. In principle, the user will not get anything new, but this version works smoother, and overall looks nicer. However, those who wanted to have long been producing beautiful skins with smooth animation (Huawei MIUI, HTC Sense, Asus ZenUI).

Multimedia

The volume of the polyphonic speaker is average, the sound is clear, no overloads - no wheezing. Sometimes you can even hear bass notes.

Some resources claim that the device was equipped with a separate music chip. Unfortunately, it is difficult to confirm or deny this information. I can say this: even if there is no music processor inside, the sound of the ZTE Blade S6 gives out gorgeous, I think that at the level of Meizu MX4 Pro. Very clean high frequencies, extremely pleasant mids and soft lows. I tested the sound both with the standard player and with those installed separately. The volume is very high, the gadget "rocks" any headphones.

There is a Hi-Fi button in the Music application. It is possible that this function improves the sound, however I did not catch the difference.

There is a built-in FM radio.

Video testing with a regular video player:

Conclusion

I repeat once again that at the moment in Russia the ZTE Blade S6 model costs from 16,000 rubles. If you order in foreign online stores, the device will cost you about 14,000 rubles, with discounts or coupons - 12,000 rubles. It seems to me that the most adequate cost would be about 10,000 - 12,000 rubles, since there is nothing unique about a smartphone.

Main disadvantages:

  • Housing. It is plastic "to the bone", it crunches a little when squeezed in the hand, slippery, over time, perhaps the paint will be strongly erased
  • Camera. Obviously not the best in its class: a lot of noise, poor detail, not always an accurate exposure meter
  • Speech speaker. It is quiet, although it transmits sound of high quality
  • Performance. Despite 8 cores under the "hood", many toys come with brakes
  • NanoSIM. Perhaps a far-fetched drawback, but this is an extra hassle with replacing SIM cards, since most smartphones still have microSIM
  • Screen. I would like a higher resolution. Judging by the measurements, the matrix is \u200b\u200bnot the best.

Main positives:

  • Ergonomic design. Everything is where you need it, fits comfortably in your hand
  • Screen. Visually, I personally liked the quality of the matrix: juicy colors and good contrast, pleasant to slide your finger over the surface, excellent oleophobic coating
  • Cool headphone sound
  • The presence of two sim cards
  • Google Android 5.0

Despite the large number of cons, I liked the ZTE Blade S6.

The author expresses his gratitude to the online store www.Gearbest.com for the ZTE Blade S6 smartphone provided for the review.

Accelerometer (or G-sensor) - sensor of the device's position in space. As a primary function, the accelerometer is used to automatically change the orientation of the display image (vertical or horizontal). Also, the G-sensor is used as a pedometer, it can be controlled by various functions of the device by turning or shaking.
Gyroscope - a sensor that measures the angles of rotation relative to a fixed coordinate system. Able to measure angles of rotation in several planes at the same time. The gyroscope together with the accelerometer allows you to accurately determine the position of the device in space. In devices that use only accelerometers, the measurement accuracy is lower, especially when moving quickly. Also, the capabilities of the gyroscope can be used in modern games for mobile devices.
Light sensor - a sensor, thanks to which the optimal values \u200b\u200bof brightness and contrast are established for a given light level. The presence of the sensor allows to increase the operating time of the device from the battery.
Proximity sensor - a sensor that detects when the device is close to the face during a call, turns off the backlight and locks the screen, preventing accidental presses. The presence of the sensor allows to increase the operating time of the device from the battery.
Geomagnetic sensor - a sensor for determining the side of the world to which the device is directed. Tracks the orientation of the device in space relative to the earth's magnetic poles. The information received from the sensor is used in cartographic programs for orientation on the ground.
Atmospheric pressure sensor - sensor for accurate measurement of atmospheric pressure. It is part of the GPS system that allows you to determine the height above sea level and speed up the location.
Touch ID - fingerprint identification sensor.

Satellite navigation:

GPS (Global Positioning System) is a satellite navigation system that measures distance, time, speed and determines the location of objects anywhere on Earth. The system is designed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The main principle of using the system is to determine the location by measuring the distance to the object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated from the signal propagation delay time from its sending by the satellite to being received by the GPS-receiver antenna.
GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measuring principle is similar to the American GPS navigation system. GLONASS is intended for operational navigation and time support of land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that the GLONASS satellites in their orbital motion do not have resonance (synchronization) with the Earth's rotation, which provides them with greater stability.
