There are also a number of disadvantages here, including:
- High cost. Due to the noticeable advantage over the film, glass costs significantly more, often at times. And if the glass is installed by a specialist, you will also have to pay a little extra.
- Thickening of the device. It would seem that a few millimeters do not play a special role, but no - the overall thickness of the smartphone will increase, it will be noticeable.
- Possible lack of glass. Not all stores have protective glasses for all models of all mobile devices. Moreover, some of them did not even consider such an opportunity.
Note! Even glass does not guarantee one hundred percent protection, since there is never too much carelessness. In this case, it is better to buy some kind of "armored" Ulefone or AGM.
How to choose
Since the pricing policy is not unitary, it can be assumed that the glasses differ in some intrinsic properties and type, and not only in size according to the smartphone.

How to remove the protective glass from your phone
If the glass is already glued and needs to be removed due to improper gluing or severe damage, carefully tear off the glass with a plastic card. Then, if necessary, remove the dust with the help of scotch tape, sticking it on the dust and pulling it sharply (but, again, neatly). Then lower and glue the glass back.
Important! You only need to use transparent stationery tape. Not colored, paper or otherwise, as they leave prints on the display.

For example, if your phone fell and the touchscreen (touchscreen) is broken, and the display shows an excellent picture, you still have to change the display module, because it will be difficult to separate the broken touchscreen from the display and not damage the latter. The chance of successfully dividing the display module is only 50%.
The separation of the display module takes place on a separator, which heats the glue and makes it soft. Using a special string that is inserted between the display and the touch glass, the adhesive layer is carefully cut off. If a string hits the display, it will be damaged. The picture on the left shows a damaged display (unsuccessful separation), on the right the display remains intact. There is no way to predict the outcome of the division.
But separating the display module without damaging the display is half the battle. After separation, the display must be cleaned from glue residues. After that, you need to glue the display and touch glass also over the entire area. In no case should you leave an air gap between the touch glass and the display, as was done before on older phones. Here, the gap between the sensor and the display is much smaller and the touchscreen will stick to the screen from touching. And the main drawback is that the viewing angle will narrow and the brightness will drop. In sunny weather, you will not see anything on such a display at all!
On some phone models, it is possible to replace separately only the touchscreen glass (touchscreen). These are mostly old or budget phone models.
Modern samsung phones (A3, A5, A7, J3, J5, J7, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8), iPhones (iPhone 4, 4s, 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6plus, 6s, 6s plus, 7, 7plus, 8, 10) are equipped with a protective glass. The sensor in such phones is applied to the display, and the glass performs a protective function. Quite often, even if the glass is badly damaged after being dropped or hit, the sensor and display continue to function properly. And in this case, you can try to replace only the glass. Some "craftsmen" can offer replacement glass for an inexpensive cost and will glue the glass with LOCA glue. This type of glue has not been used for a long time in the manufacture and repair of displays, but it does not require special equipment to apply it. LOCA glue, especially the cheapest one, turns yellow over time, bubbles may appear between the glass and the display, the display backlight may be filled with this glue when replacing the glass.
Currently, OCA glue (film) is used for gluing glass to a display. To bond the glass to the display, a laminator and separator are needed to remove air bubbles between the glass and the display. This is the only way to achieve high-quality gluing without bubbles.
On Samsung EDGE phones, the sides of the display are rounded, so you cannot separate the glass from the display with a string or separator. This requires a freezer, which is cooled down to -150 degrees Celsius.
The low temperature destroys the adhesive and the glass easily separates from the display. Then it is necessary to clean the display from the remnants of glue and glue the new glass on special equipment.
Replacing only glass on Samsung phones, Apple iPhone, touch glass on modern phones (Xiaomi, Meizu, Lg, Sony Xperia, Asus Zenfone, etc.) is cheaper than replacing an entire display module. But in order to replace glass or a touchscreen with a high quality and with a guarantee, you need expensive equipment and high-quality consumables. I hasten to upset you, it is impossible to do this without special equipment. Let's start with the fact that there are two technologies for "gluing" new glass:

And even if you have changed the backlight, there are almost always places where UV rays did not hit the glue and it did not freeze. There is a great chance that with active (and not so) movements of the phone, the backlight will again be flooded with glue.

Replacing the side glass of the car
In contrast to the windshield, the side windows are more fragile, therefore they break thoroughly - immediately and into small fragments. Scotch tape and film are a good way out, but you will still have to install new glass. You can go to the workshop and pay not only for a new window, but also for the work of the master. Or try to do everything yourself.
This will require:
- new glass;
- screwdrivers - Phillips, flat, end;
- latches for fixing the casing (it is better not to use the old ones);
- brush for cleaning splinters and other debris.
- Remove the door trim first. To do this, you should:
- using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the fixing bolts securing the armrest and remove it;
- unscrew and remove the window regulator handle (the plastic plug can be easily pushed off and removed with a small thin screwdriver);
- remove the handle that opens the car door;
- loosen the fixing elements that hold the upholstery itself and disconnect it from the metal frame of the door.
- After the upholstery has been removed, set the power window lever back in place and lock it in the "glass down" position.

Step 1. Remove old glass or its remnants
To do this, you will have to use a special knife or string. They are placed inside and outside the glass and cut the sealant on which it is attached. The main thing in performing this procedure is not to damage the front panel of the passenger compartment.
Step 2. Remove the old glue
This can be done using an ordinary retractable knife sold in hardware stores. It is advisable to remove the old layer completely, but if it is difficult, then the remnants of the used glue will not cause much harm.
Step 3. Degrease the surface
For this purpose, a special composition is included in the kit, but if it is not available, ordinary acetone or another degreasing agent will do.
Step 4. Prime the installation site
There are several nuances to consider here:
- Do not apply a primer on the remnants of the old adhesive, only on metal parts of the body.
- The primer mixture is applied in one layer, along the line of extrusion of the sealing compound.
- A primer is also applied to the glass in the area of \u200b\u200bcontact with the sealant to avoid UV exposure to the latter. Otherwise, the sealant will begin to deteriorate under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, which will affect the quality of the installation and the life of the glass.
- After priming, areas with the remaining old adhesive are degreased.
Step 5. Apply sealant along the gluing line

- If the container for the adhesive sealing compound does not have a special tip, then the packaging must be cut off, maintaining a large angle so that the contents are squeezed out in the form of a cone tapering upward.
- The sealant is applied using an air gun or compressor.
- It is recommended to heat the mixture to about 40 degrees before applying.

Step 6. Insert and fix the glass
The glass is rubberized along the contour and is applied to the applied sealant and gently pressed. After that, it should be secured with tape and left to dry.

- The car must not be washed for at least 48 hours, and in general should not be wet, for example, in the rain. This disrupts the curing process of the sealant.
- Adhesive and glass for installation should be purchased only from reliable manufacturers.
- The surface for applying the sealant must be absolutely dry.
- When removing old glass, wear protective gloves so as not to harm yourself. It is also advisable to wear a mask that will protect your eyes. Cracked, unstable glass can cause unpleasant surprises and serious injury.
