I turn on skype white screen. Skype won't start, what should I do? Create a new shortcut

Many Internet users use Skype in their work. But very often you can find situations when Skype does not start or a white field pops up. Many people associate this with the Skype "bug". Our article will tell you how to get out of this situation.

The first way

If this action does not help, then go to the second method.

Second way

With this action you will be able to log into Skype. But this is a temporary solution - only for authorization.

The third way

  1. Exit the program completely (see above for how to do this).
  2. Open " My computer», drive C, « Program Files", Folder Skype and go to the folder " Phone».
  3. Click on Skype and then right click: Send - desktop (create shortcut)... A second shortcut will be created on the desktop.
  4. Click on the created shortcut, and then right-click on " Properties". In the window that appears in the line “ C: \ Program Files \ Skype \ Phone \ Skype.exe", Write the following command separated by a space / legacylogin... Then click on the button below " Apply».
  5. Now you can log into Skype by launching the program through the shortcut you just created. The Skype program will start in the old window (Skype version), without the need for Internet settings Explorer.

If the above methods did not help, then download the Skype program from the official website of the program and reinstall it.

Unfortunately, errors in Skype are common. Moreover, you can encounter problems even at the stage of launching the program. Sometimes a white screen is displayed instead of an authorization form. At the same time, Skype itself does not podglyuchivaet, but restarting does not help.

White screen instead of login form

In Skype, the white screen at startup is not associated with the program itself or with computer crashes. It is caused by corrupted configuration data Internet Explorer... The fact is that this browser is used to load the authorization form. And if there is any problem with it, then the entrance to account becomes impossible.

In this situation, there are two easy ways out: deleting the temporary Internet Explorer files and resetting the Explorer settings to their initial values. One of these methods will definitely eliminate the white screen at the stage of logging into your account. But before proceeding with the steps described below, you need to close Skype.

Option 1: Delete Temporary Internet Explorer Files

First, you should erase all temporary files in Internet Explorer:

Most likely, after that, the white screen in Skype will disappear, and an authorization form will appear instead. If this is not the case, then it will help full reset Internet Explorer settings.

Option 2: Reset Internet Explorer Settings

Again you need to open the properties of Internet Explorer. But this time in the menu go to the "Advanced" section. There the desired item is present. Set the cleaning of personal data and click "Reset". At the end, it is recommended that you restart your computer.

Then open Skype and wait for it to load. Instead of a white screen, a form will appear where you need to enter data from your profile. This completes the solution to the problem.

Recently faced an unusual problem for me when launching Skype. The computer is running the long-gone and officially unsupported Windows XP operating system. Yes, but a certain percentage of users still sit on it! :) When you start Skype, as usual, a window appears for entering a username and password, and then, after entering these data, nothing happens at all. Just a white window with the ability to only return to the previous erkna to re-try to enter! The problem turned out to be wrong and it is simply corrected, and after Skype still managed to start, I decided to write this article, where I will share the ways to solve it.

The first thing that came to my mind when I faced a similar problem was some kind of temporary problem with the Internet. I rebooted the router, reconnected to the Internet, the problem was not solved. Then I tried the right solution that saves from most problems (and this applies to all programs) - reinstalling Skype. After reinstalling, to my surprise, Skype did not work.

And what I just didn’t try, I had to try different solutions from the Internet and none of them helped. In the course of long dances with a tambourine, I still won the problem.

The whole point is that Skype has once again been updated and this update completely blocked the ability to log in to your Skype account for some reason. While I was looking possible reasons the appearance of such a problem and ways to solve it, I realized that, as a rule, this happens due to incorrect settings of the standard browser in Windows - Internet Explorer or due to an Internet connection.

The only thing that helped me in this situation was installing one of the old Skype versions a. The latest version at that time was 7.30, but I found and installed one of the 6 versions (I don't remember more precisely). After installation old version, skype suddenly started working! Well, as soon as he entered Skype, he immediately forbade him to update. In principle, everything is so clear, it's a very old operating system (Windows XP) and it already has a lot of problems with many programs, some do not start at all, and some I work with various kinds of jambs.

However, reinstalling Skype to an older version is an extreme case and it is better to try other options first.

A similar problem occurs in other operating rooms. Windows systems released after Windows XP.

Method number 1. Easy reinstallation of Skype

First of all, if you are faced with a white window problem when starting Skype, just try reinstalling Skype. To do this, you first need to delete the existing version of Skype from your computer, and then download the most new version and install it.

The correct order is:

    Remove the currently installed version of Skype and restart your computer;

Go to the official website of the Skype program:

By clicking the download button, download the Skype installation file to your computer.

Install Skype again from the said file and restart your computer.

After that, try starting skype and logging into your account. Often, a simple reinstallation can fix Skype problems.

Method number 2. Reset Internet Explorer browser settings.

Sometimes Skype shows a white window after entering the username and password due to incorrect settings of the standard Internet browser Explorer, because it is from there that it takes some of the connection settings.

This solution is very simple:

As a result, the settings of the Internet Explorer browser connected to Skype will be completely reset. Restart your computer and try logging into your Skype account again.

Method number 3. Change settings for a shortcut to launch Skype

Often, the problem with starting Skype is associated with some problems in the operation of the Internet Explorer browser, which is already indicated by the above described method No. 2. In this browser, for some reason, JavaScript may not work or work incorrectly, and without it, it is impossible to further launch Skype. There is an option to try to get around this by adding a special command to the shortcut through which you launch Skype.

So, you need to do the following:

Now try starting Skype.

Method number 4. Installing an older version of Skype

This is exactly the way that helped me deal with the problem on Windows XP. You need to download one of the old versions of Skype, for example, any of the 6 and install it instead of the new one available now. Unfortunately, there is no archive of Skype versions on the official website of the Skype program, that is, from there you can download only the latest version, but these old versions can be found on other sites on the Internet.

So that you don't have to surf the Internet in search of an old version of Skype, if you want to try this way of solving the problem and God forbid, even grab a virus from some site, I have uploaded several versions of Skype to the cloud drive, which you can safely download.

One of the problems that Skype users may experience is a white screen at startup. Worst of all, the user can't even try to log into their account. Let's find out what caused this phenomenon, and what are the ways to fix this problem.

Communication break when starting the program

One of the reasons why a white screen might appear when Skype starts is if the Internet connection is disconnected while the Skype program is loading. But there can be a lot of reasons for the break itself: from problems on the side of the provider to modem malfunctions, or short circuits in local networks.

Accordingly, the solution is either to find out the reasons from the provider, or to repair the breakdown on the spot.

IE glitches

As you know, Skype uses the Internet Explorer browser as the engine. Namely, problems with this browser can cause a white window to appear when entering the program. In order to fix this, first of all, you need to try to reset IE settings.

Close Skype and launch IE. Go to the settings section by clicking on the gear located in the upper right corner of the browser. In the list that appears, select the "Internet Options" item.

In the window that opens, go to the "Advanced" tab. Click on the "Reset" button.

Then, another window opens, in which you should check the box next to the "Delete personal settings" item. We do this and click on the "Reset" button.

After that, you can start Skype and check its performance.

If these steps did not help, close Skype and IE. Pressing the keyboard shortcuts Win + R, open the "Run" window.

We sequentially drive the following commands into this window:

  • regsvr32 Ole32.dll
  • regsvr32 Inseng.dll
  • regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
  • regsvr32 Mssip32.dll
  • regsvr32 Urlmon.dll.

After entering each individual command from the presented list, click on the "OK" button.

The point is that the white screen problem occurs when one of the given IE files, for some reason, is not registered in the system windows registry... This is the way registration is carried out.

But, in this case, you can do it differently - reinstall Internet Explorer.

If none of the specified manipulations with the browser yielded results, and the screen in Skype is still white, then you can temporarily disable the connection between Skype and Internet Explorer. At the same time, Skype will not be available home page, and some more small functions, but, on the other hand, it will be possible to log into your account, make calls, and carry on correspondence without any problems, getting rid of the white screen.

In order to disconnect Skype from IE, delete the Skype shortcut on the desktop. Next, using the explorer, go to the address C: \ Program Files \ Skype \ Phone, right-click on the Skype.exe file, and select the "Create shortcut" item.

After creating the shortcut, return to the Desktop, right-click on the shortcut, and select the "Properties" item.

In the "Shortcut" tab of the opened window, look for the "Object" field. Add the value "/ legacylogin" without quotes to the expression that is already in the field. Click on the "OK" button.

Now, when you click on this shortcut, a version of Skype will be launched that is not associated with the Internet Explorer browser.

Reinstall Skype with factory reset

A one-stop solution to troubleshooting Skype program is to reinstall the application with a factory reset. Of course, this does not guarantee 100% elimination of the problem, but, nevertheless, it is a way out to solve the problem with many types of malfunctions, including when a white screen occurs when Skype starts.

First of all, we completely stop Skype, "killing" the process, using the Windows Task Manager.

Open the "Run" window. We do this by pressing the Win + R key combination on the keyboard. In the window that opens, enter the command "% APPDATA% \", and click on the button labeled "OK".

We are looking for the Skype folder. If it is not critical for the user to save chat conversations and some other data, then simply delete this folder. Otherwise, rename it as we wish.

We remove Skype in the usual way, through the service of uninstalling and changing Windows programs.

After that, we perform the standard Skype installation procedure.

We launch the program. If the launch was successful and there is no white screen, then again close the application and move the main.db file from the renamed folder to the newly generated Skype directory. Thus, we will refund the correspondence. Otherwise, just delete new folder Skype, and return the old name to the old folder. We continue to look for the reason for the white screen elsewhere.

As you can see, the reasons for the white screen in Skype can be completely different. But, if this is not a banal disconnection during connection, then with a high probability it can be assumed that the root cause of the problem should be looked for in the functionality of the Internet Explorer browser.

"When skype starts, there is no login and password input field"

This kind of garbage arises, as always, unexpectedly. It worked, Skype worked, and then bam (!) And an empty window at startup. Neither you enter a login nor a password, and even if it was launched automatically without asking for data, it is still an empty window.

So there is no need to panic. For those who are worried about their contact list or messages on Skype, I can reassure you that they will not disappear (if you don’t try hard).

What is the reason? As it turned out, the stable work of new Skype versions(since 5.5) depends on Internet Explorer (IE) and Windows Scripting Engine. Skype authorization requires JavaScript access and ActiveX execution. On some systems with certain IE settings, these tasks are not performed as expected, which is why Skype authorization problems appear.

What can be done in this situation? I will describe several possible options.
Here's one that worked for me personally:

  • Exit Skype (right-click on Skype in the tray> Exit). Make sure the skype.exe process is complete in Windows Task Manager. If necessary, close the process if it is still active
  • Open the folder C: \ Program Files \ or C: \ Program Files (x86) \ (if you have a 64 bit system)
  • Find the Skype folder and the Phone folder in it
  • Right click on Skype.exe and select Send to Desktop (create a Skype shortcut on your desktop)
  • Now, right click on the shortcut you just created, go to Properties and select the Shortcut tab
  • The Target field will be "C: \ Program Files \ Skype \ Phone \ Skype.exe" (or (x86) if you have 64 bit Windows)
  • Click in this field. After the quotes on the right side, put a space and write / legacylogin
  • Now the text in the Target field will be "C: \ Program Files \ Skype \ Phone \ Skype.exe" / legacylogin
  • Click OK to save the settings. Start Skype with this shortcut

The / legacylogin switch must launch Skype through the old login window, which does not require IE components.

As for the global bug fix, here are the possible options:

1 - The problem is solved by running an earlier version of Skype - from 5.3. and earlier (logically from the above);

2 - Remove Skype, then START -> EXECUTE (enter the command) regsvr32 jscript.dll and press OK... A window will appear where we press again OK... Then again the START menu -> EXECUTE and enter the following command: regsvr32 vbscript.dll and press OK. After that, we install skype.

3 - Re-registering libraries for Windows 7 64x:

a) Click START .
b) In the search box, enter "command line" .
c) In the list of results, right-click on « Command line» and select the command "Run as administrator «.
d) type the following command and press Enter.

cd \
cd windows \ SysWOW64
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

regsvr32 jscript9.dll

Restart the system.

4 - You can try to update IE to the very latest version via Windows Update or uninstall IE and reinstall it. Also, you can try to reset IE settings to factory (default). Or, on the contrary, roll back, for example, from version 9 to version 8.

5 - It may be necessary to combine these methods to achieve the result.

In general, good luck in bringing Skype back to normal.
