One of the interesting changes is the creation of a secure folder where you can transfer content that is not subject to public viewing, for this the functionality of the KNOX system has been expanded. One of the interesting features is the ability to install any duplicate application in such a protected folder, for example, the second Vkontakte or Telegram. The use of such technology is quite simple to come up with, and for sure it will find its fans.

fires

The number of explosive jokes about the Note 7 got even fans of memes, and for this you need to try very hard. Almost all YouTubers joked about what a Note 7 is hot. And this is definitely not in the hands of Samsung. Of course, there were cases of phone fires before, but in Note 7 they got, albeit not big, but massive.

What is known now?

  • There is a small batch of devices, up to 5000 pieces, which have a battery defect.
  • The batch of devices and their serial numbers are known, but Samsung is recalling all devices worldwide.
This situation happens quite often in the world of car manufacturers: for example, technician Vasya assembled a car for a week and set the brakes incorrectly, which stop braking after a thousand pressing the pedal. You don't even have to go far from batteries, one of the first batches of TESLA had cars that could catch fire due to battery problems, but who remembers this now?

This is the first time such a major situation has happened with smartphones, Samsung's PR service initially reported that sales were stopped due to an incredible amount of pre-orders. A day later, another release came out: sales stopped due to battery problems and fire incidents.

But is what is happening now so critical?
Fire incidents occur only in the US and South Korea and do not affect the rest of the world.
There were problems with smartphones before: smartphones did not catch the network and easily bent.
Smartphones do not explode, but rather get very hot and start to smoke, this can be seen on the videos from the surveillance cameras of the cases, of course, in some cases this can lead to a fire.

History, like any informational occasion, will soon be forgotten. The main thing now is not to repeat the mistakes and not to let something bad happen. Of course, the reputation is damaged, there are losses in the value of shares and the money will have to be spent on returns and reproduction, but do not forget that Samsung is a giant corporation that can afford to release flammable smartphones at least every half a year.

Samsung made the main headache for themselves - for some reason they decided to recall all smartphones. Although the problem occurs with 0.3% of devices. They did not immediately recognize the problem and tried to twist the situation into their own hands. They release firmware for a long time with a limit on the percentage of charge. They, knowing a specific batch, do not update the firmware and do not remotely turn off devices that can be harmful to health.

This is probably the problem of a large corporation - the vertical of management simply does not allow you to quickly respond to such situations. Let's hope that the case will make the management think about solving such sharply arising problems. Otherwise, the company is doing well and they know how to make smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is a 5.7-inch flagship phone with a stylus from a line of progenitors of all phablets that have become so popular and commonplace that the term itself is almost never used anywhere. It is understandable. Phones with large displays are the best embodiment of a pocket PC: these devices hold a charge better, take better pictures, and the large screen makes them a convenient mobile assistant, both for work and in everyday life.

Features of Samsung Galaxy Note7 mobile phones

Note7 immediately received a whole set of top technologies that have already been seen in the premium models of the company: an ultra-clear AMOLED display, a sturdy metal case, a branded stylus, a fast fingerprint scanner, a powerful processor that “tears” any 3D game at maximum settings, advanced communications, and possibly the best cameras on the mobile market. However, there is only one fundamentally new feature here, namely an iris scanner to protect personal content. In general, this device is definitely worth the money, because it is simply packed with all sorts of chips to solve any problems.

With the onset of August, many fans of Samsung products waited for good news: the official announcement Samsung Galaxy Note7, a phablet that continues the well-known series of gadgets focused on working with the S Pen stylus. Of course, a user who knows about the latest generation of Samsung Galaxy S7 will not notice any catch. But experienced users will be surprised why the next novelty of the series did not receive the number 6. Everything is explained simply: the release of the flagship is automatically associated with the new Note, and since the developers were late with the sixth model, they decided to call the novelty a seven. Be that as it may, the phablet is interesting, and has received a lot of interesting chips that are characteristic of all high-profile new products from Samsung.

Design

In terms of ergonomics, this phablet resembles not so much the previous Samsung Galaxy Note5 as Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. All thanks to the double-edged variation of the design, where the functional part of the display is rounded on the sides to the frame. Whether it is convenient or not, it is difficult to judge, but it looks unusual and attracts the attention of others. Another nice feature: a thickness of 7.9 millimeters. Yes, the smartphone does not look like any state employees, yet the thin body adds elegance. But we should not forget that in general the dimensions of the device are impressive: after all, this is a 5.7-inch solution. The display, as always, is made using super-AMOLED technology and has a resolution of 1440x2560. B-brands from China rarely indulge in such characteristics. And no matter how the same brands strive to reduce the scope, they are completely absent here. The back cover is non-removable and, like the screen, it is bent towards the side frame.

Another feature characteristic of modern Samsung flagships is dust and moisture protection according to the IP68 standard. Samsung Galaxy Note7 also adopted this feature, so that the device is not afraid of water. Finally, a few words about the pen: it is also being improved. Now the pen is more accurate and recognizes as many as 4096 degrees of pressure. Now they can draw even thinner lines.

iron power

A key feature of Samsung's flagships is their own chipsets, which provide good performance. In this case, the manufacturer used an Exynos 8890 Octa with four 2.3GHz and four 1.6GHz cores. 4 gigabytes of RAM, 64 permanent memory. The camera is also not inferior: despite 12 megapixels, the aperture is f / 1.7, so the pictures should be good even in low light conditions.

Each new representative of the Note line is expected by the public with open impatience, and then is subjected to the closest scrutiny. Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy Note 7 is no exception. A simple study of the technical characteristics of this smartphone makes the heart of any more or less advanced user tremble, but we decided to study its capabilities in the most detailed way, join us.

Ah, yes. To everyone who was waiting for the Note 6 model in bewilderment and did not wait, we remind you that the “six” was deliberately skipped by the manufacturer in order to bring all its flagship Galaxy (Note and S lines) to such a “common denominator”.

Package is a solid black matte box. Like theater off a hanger, the solidity of the new Galaxy Note 7 starts from here, from the box.

Contents of delivery includes a key clip, tweezers with interchangeable stylus tips, a wired headset, a charger and a USB cable for it. Of particular interest here is a pair of adapters from USB-C to full-fledged USB and microUSB: connect a USB flash drive and use third-party charging.

Design has not changed compared to its predecessors: we have a glass sandwich with a metal frame between the front and rear plates.

The glass is convex, in the company of curved side frames it creates a wonderful effect of a screen floating in the air. By the way, these very bends here are not as strong as those of the same Galaxy S7 Edge.

Dimensions 153.5 x 73.9 x 7.9 mm, weight 169 g. Not to mention that for its rather large screen, the Galaxy Note 7 feels like a rather compact device.

Protection against dust and moisture meets the IP68 standard, by the way, this is the first Note to receive such protection.

The standard colors - black, silver and gold - are diluted with a fresh blue version.

On the right we see a thin power button.

On the bottom, we are greeted by the current year's USB Type-C port, next to a microphone hole, an audio port, a speaker grill and an S Pen jack.

On the left are the usual separate volume buttons.

At the top we see a tray for SIM and a memory card, here is an additional microphone.

The rear panel is bent to the side edges, due to which it is convenient to hold the smartphone in your hands, despite its frankly large size. The layout of all the elements is familiar from previous Galaxy models: here is the camera, flash, heart rate sensor and oxygen saturation sensor. All these elements have long been familiar to fans of the brand. The glass of the back cover, of course, collects all possible fingerprints, but if you put it in order in time, it will look very solid.

On the front panel we see a standard set of sensors, supplemented by an infrared camera for reading the iris, a conversational speaker and a front camera,

below it - a pair of touch buttons and a physical “Home”, combined with a fingerprint scanner.

Iris Scanner was mentioned in almost all the leaks regarding Note 7 and, as you can see, they did not lie. However, it is not so easy to use it: if taking off glasses is a simple matter, then no one wants to pick out contact lenses a hundred times a day.

Thanks to the infrared camera, recognition works even in the dark, but in bright light there may be problems. If the iris is not recognized for some reason, you can confirm your identity using a fingerprint sensor or a digital password.

Admittedly, the new autumn protection works quickly and, for the most part, accurately, but it will not work to “deceive” the sensor with the help of a photograph.

In addition to unlocking the smartphone in general, the iris scanner can be used to restrict access to personal photos, records, or other types of files.

The fingerprint scanner we will mention only in passing, it is not new to us. Everything works well here, recognition is fast and trouble-free.

S Pen, along with the device as a whole, received protection from dust and moisture, moreover, in such unfavorable conditions, it will remain operational. But his improvements don't end there. So, the pen has become more accurate and sensitive, now it “understands” twice as many degrees of pressure: 4096. Externally, the stylus has become thinner, the selection button has remained in its place, and to remove it from the socket, you still need to use a special button. Speaking of the socket, the problem with the incorrectly inserted stylus seems to be solved forever: now it just won't fit in the back. Fool proof, pure and simple.

As for how it works, the S Pen is fast and accurate, and OCR works great. To the previous functions, a screen magnifier (up to 300% magnification), quick translation (including from images) and the creation of GIF animations were added. But S Note and Action memo have disappeared, now their functions are combined in the Notes application. Given that the programs largely duplicated each other, we consider this the right decision, and we hasten to reassure all users of other Galaxy Note models: you can easily transfer previously created notes to a new application.

Screen has the same diagonal of 5.7 inches with a resolution of QuadHD (2560x1440) unchanged for several generations, which gives a pixel density of 518 ppi. The SuperAMOLED matrix has not left the smartphone either, but Gorilla Glass 5 now acts as a protective glass. If you are seriously interested in buying Note 7, you have probably already seen that creepy video from the JerryRigEverything channel, where the author safely scratches the glass with rather soft tools, which Gorilla Glass 4 did not succumb. Of course, we cannot say that your keys will leave (or not) the same devastating scratches, but still we do not recommend risking the appearance of such an expensive device.

Well, what can we say about the quality of the display of the flagship smartphone? He's great. There is nothing to complain about either the brightness, or the viewing angles, or the color reproduction. Note 7 fully justifies its status as an advanced device.

An interesting feature of the screen is support for HDR video format, which guarantees smoother color transitions and a wide dynamic range. However, so far this is only a theoretical possibility: there is practically no suitable content on the Web.

As for the curved sidewalls, there are no accidental clicks on them, and the SPen works great in these areas.

The screen temperature settings are the same, from the new one - a blue filter (aka, night mode) has appeared to make the eyes less tired. This mode is scheduled to work.

Let's also mention the Always On Display option, familiar to users from the Galaxy S7. Here it has become better and now shows notifications not only from standard applications, but also from third-party ones, which greatly expands the scope of an already interesting function.

Sound both from the multimedia speaker and from the headphones, is at a high level: detailed and loud. All sorts of effects and a seven-band equalizer are provided.

Operating system Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, of course, will be updated to the latest "seven" as soon as possible, but for now, the new shell, which is called Grace UX, is of interest.

The shell turned out to be minimalistic, lightweight and quite interesting. The icons in it are rounded, executed in deliberately simple lines and colors.

The curtain is now made with light colors, quick settings are called up in the additional submenu by swiping down, the SIM card settings are also placed here.

The settings menu has changed dramatically.

A search bar appeared in the application menu.

Not to mention the brand new Samsung Cloud service. In fact, just cloud storage, elegantly integrated into the smartphone interface. All Note 7 users will get 15GB of space here. In addition to actually storing files, it can be used to back up data.

And, of course, it would be stupid to have curved edges, but not have software for it. Note7 provides Edge UI, with applications placed on the sidebars (new ones were added to the usual list) or contacts.

A little prank from Samsung - the main color of the interface will now match the color of your smartphone. However, if desired, it is always easy to change in the settings.

Performance approximately equal on both modifications of the smartphone. As we remember, there are two of them: one is based on the 64-bit Samsung Exynos 8890, the other is based on the Snapdragon 820. The first processor is complemented by the Mali-T880 MP12 graphics, the second is Adreno 530. Both versions have 4 GB of RAM, the built-in memory is standard 64 GB. Perhaps this would be enough for almost any need, but here it is also complemented by a slot for a memory card. A 6/128 GB option is also provided for the Chinese market.

In any of these options, it is not just fast, it is a lightning-fast smartphone that can handle any of your requirements and tasks, whether it be applications, games, synthetic tests, augmented or virtual reality.

Be that as it may, the numbers in the benchmarks are amazing, and in the final version, which will hit the stores, it may be even cooler.

Interfaces are represented by a standard set that is not worthy of close attention: LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and GLONASS and GPS navigation systems.

Camera the main one is equipped with a 12 MP module with f / 1.7 aperture and Dual Pixel technology, phase detection autofocus and single-section flash. Optical image stabilization is also provided. The camera has a high speed of operation, and this applies to focusing, and launching and saving finished images.

The application interface has also been updated: now all controls are sharpened for swipes. The output was intuitive and fast.

This module shows excellent results, regardless of the shooting conditions: whether it is a bright sunny afternoon, evening or a gloomy room, the pictures remain detailed, with natural colors and the complete absence of noise.

Video recording is carried out as much as possible in 4K, there is a slow-motion recording mode.

The 5 MP front camera with f/1.7 aperture is not equipped with any special technological frills, but it also shows excellent performance and excellent pictures. The most interesting thing here is video shooting: it is available in 2K quality.

Battery has a capacity of 3500 mAh. This smartphone is enough for a full day of battery life in mixed mode, that is, approximately 5 hours of screen or 14 hours of video.

There is wireless and fast charging; From zero to maximum, the smartphone charges in an hour and a half.

It is impossible to ignore the new energy-saving mode, which, in theory, should extend the battery life of the device by 35 hours. Under the laconic names Mid and Max, there are two levels of energy saving, and on each of them the user can make his own adjustments. Especially interesting is the lowering of the screen resolution in Mid to FullHD (1920x1080), and in “Max” to HD (1280x720). Until now, no manufacturer has resorted to such a method to increase the autonomy of their devices, although third-party analogues exist and are actively used by users.

Accessories for the Galaxy Note 7 are so diverse that it’s simply impossible to dwell on each item in detail. We will only mention a large number of cases, including those with an external battery of 3100 mAh and the possibility of wireless charging, a pair of lenses or diodes for alerts. The latter option is already familiar to us from previous versions, but with the new LED View Cover, new options for customization have appeared, it can also be used to accept or reject calls and manage some programs, for example, an alarm clock or a timer.

And, of course, we have not forgotten about the new Gear VR virtual reality helmet, we just think that such an interesting device deserves a separate review.

Generally, Galaxy Note 7 is beautiful, what can I add? If the Note 4 and 5 were more of a treadmill, then the Seven is indeed a step forward. And it’s not even about advanced technologies that have always been present in Notes, but about pleasant little things: finally a curved screen, protection from dust and moisture, a compact body, despite a consistently large screen, an improved stylus ... And, of course, a scanner iris - Note 7 was one of the first "androids" with such an identification system and certainly the first eminent.

Are you interested in disadvantages? Well, here the case is easily soiled. Glass, you know.

Of course, like everything good, you have to pay for such charms, and a considerable price: in this case, about $ 900.
