Huawei y6 ll camera review from sony. Review of the smartphone Huawei Y6II: hit the old stuffing on new competitors! Laconic and stylish

Modern mobile gadgets always please with stylish design, high-quality and large screen, good performance and support for other technological devices. Nevertheless, there is one very significant point that manufacturers either forget about or specifically assign almost the last role to it - this is battery life.

Engineers and designers of companies are trying to make new smartphone models thinner, more powerful, with large Full HD screens, supporting a huge range of applications, in general, more beautiful and more expensive. All this in order to cause the delight of the future owner and sometimes even awe of his creation. And in pursuit of such “beauty”, the manufacturer very often neglects energy saving, that is, autonomy, and this is a fact.

Is it impossible to carry advanced technologies along with enviable characteristics and have excellent autonomy? No matter how!

This statement is refuted by the hero of today's review - a stylish and very capable gadget from the middle price range, distinguished by a capacious battery and good technical performance. This is Huawei Y6 Pro. Characteristics, hardware and communication capabilities, as well as the opinions of experts, along with reviews from ordinary smartphone owners, will be discussed later in the review. On the shelves of many stores, the model is presented as Enjoy 5, Honor 5X Play, Honor 4C Pro and Holly 2+. But under the cover, the inscription Huawei Y6 Pro invariably flaunts (price - 11 thousand rubles).

Appearance

The gadget has a monoblock and attractive design. The model is gently rounded at the corners and looks like a classic rectangular smartphone. The five-inch screen is bordered by a black insert and recessed into it, due to this it visually looks a little larger than its dimensions. If you look at the top and bottom frames more closely, you can see the original and quite nice texture.

Front

The frontal eye of the camera is located in a traditional place for this kind of gadgets - above the screen. Approximations also keep him company. Directly below the screen itself and just above the brand logo, on-screen icons are conveniently located: “square”, “triangle” and “circle”. The icons have the familiar functionality of Recent Apps, Back, and Home.

If you are left-handed or just do not like the location of the icons, then you can easily change them in the Huawei Y6 Pro menu. Owner reviews are full of words of gratitude for this, albeit small, but for someone critical feature of the gadget.

Rear

A very remarkable metal frame runs along the perimeter of the device, which contrasts perfectly with the plastic case, which, by the way, has an original and pleasant to the touch texture. On the back of the gadget, in the upper part, there is a camera with a flash. Just above the eye you can see a microphone, and below you can see a nice logo of the manufacturer.

You will not find speakers in the usual place for such dimensions. Engineers considered it more appropriate to place them on the bottom end, to the micro-USB connector. At first glance, it may seem that the speakers have a stereo layout (holes on both sides of the output), but in fact there is only one speaker, and the sound flows through only one grill in the Huawei Y6 Pro. Reviews of the owners of the gadget were slightly divided in this case: someone was quite satisfied with such a false grille and mono sound, and someone sunk into the soul that he was being deceived.

Under the removable cover, you can see a pair of modern micro-slots for SIM cards and one place for a micro-SD drive. The battery takes up almost the entire space, but nevertheless does not interfere with working with cards. Under it, you will see the identification numbers, as well as the serial number, build number, and other technical information about the Huawei Y6 Pro. Reviews about the "friendliness" of the lid are mostly positive: with proper dexterity, it is easy to pry off with a fingernail and just as easy to put in place.

Ergonomics and gamma

With its impressive weight of 160 grams, the device has the appropriate dimensions: 143.1 x 71.8 x 9.7 mm, which is quite within the boundaries of decency for five-inch gadgets. At the moment, official dealers have two versions of colors: Huawei Y6 Pro Gold (golden) and Gray (gray).

Both scales look great both in the hands of strong men and weak women, and regardless of status and age, be it a student or a respectable gentleman over 60. Huawei Y6 Pro Gold and Gray do not differ in price, so what to choose is a matter of everyone's taste.

Screen

The five-inch model has a base resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, which even today, in search of "bigger, higher and more powerful", in this class of devices is considered a decent feature. The density of dots per inch is also a good indicator - 294 ppi. And all this works on a quite sensible IPS-matrix, with proper saturation and contrast.

The brightness adjustment range has a good spread across the entire Huawei Y6 Pro series. View of the corners is also up to the mark. You can easily view a photo or video in the company of one or two friends. Moreover, the viewing angles are equally good both horizontally and vertically for all Huawei Y6 Pro models. The reviews of the owners point out the only, and for some, the critical drawback of the screen is the lack of it. So a microfiber cloth will become your constant companion if you don’t have the desire to fork out for an expensive coating procedure.

A more or less inexpensive salvation from dust, scratches and other dirt for Huawei Y6 Pro is a case, so the first thing that smartphone owners recommend is to purchase any case you like after buying a gadget, since there are more than enough designs, shapes and varieties of material in stores.

Hardware platform

The Mediatek MT6735P series platform, running on four cores with a clock frequency of 1.3 GHz (ARM "Cortex-A53"), is responsible for the speed of the smartphone. The built-in chip from Mali of the T720 MP2 series at 600 MHz is responsible for video streams. In general, the capacities for most daily tasks are more than enough for the Huawei Y6 Pro models.

The review showed that the gadget is equipped with two gigabytes of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. And the user of them is about 10 GB. The device supports all modern micro-SD drives up to 128 GB, and therefore owners of Huawei Y6 Pro should not have problems with free space. The cover from the brand (branded) is equipped with special pockets, so you can store all your memory cards and SIM cards in one place.

Communications

The model provides for work with two micro-sim cards. They work alternately, that is, when one SIM is active, the other switches to offline mode. The gadget feels great in the core networks of all known mobile operators and supports 2G, 3G and 4G technologies.

There is also support for popular wireless protocols: Wi-Fi at 802.11 b / g / n points and bluetooth fourth version. Some owners in their reviews complain that the Huawei Y6 Pro mobile phone was not equipped with NFC technology, but at this price, the available characteristics are more than attractive.

In addition to the standard set, it supports domestic GLONASS and imported GPS / A-GPS. The gadget can easily be used as a navigator, along with standard Google Maps cartography.

Offline work

Two things are particularly attractive about the Huawei Y6 Pro - price and battery life. The available 4000 mAh battery allows the phone to “live” in normal mode for about two days. Even if you load it, as they say, to its fullest, the charge will still be enough for almost a day.

More specifically, at full screen brightness, playing video in Full HD drains the battery for almost eleven hours, and this is an excellent indicator for models in this segment.

You can significantly extend the autonomy if you turn on special power-saving modes and turn off especially “gluttonous” third-party applications. Moreover, the gadget takes on the optimization of the software and the entire device as a whole, competently reminding and connecting the mode you need at the moment (customizable function).

Separately, it is worth mentioning another feature of the model. Y6 Pro can act as an external battery powering other gadgets, and this, as a rule, is the prerogative of expensive devices from the category “the price has exceeded 30 thousand rubles”. Users in their reviews appreciated this feature, giving it the highest rating in the autonomy section.

Smartphone Huawei Y6 (2018) was recently presented to the Chinese company without much hype, as happens with flagship models. The manufacturer told about the new mobile device through the corresponding page on its official website. In fact, the novelty is a renamed version of the simplest version.

The case of Huawei Y6 (2018) is made of metal with a glass front panel. All elements are located in their usual places. It is worth paying attention to the main camera module. No matter how it seems, the novelty has only one sensor with LED flash. In general, the smartphone is no different from the above-mentioned Honor 7A in minimal modification, with the exception of the processor. The device has a 4-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chip with a clock speed of 1.4 GHz. Chips like a powerful main speaker with support for Huawei Histen, Party mode for playing music from multiple devices simultaneously, face unlock and basic AR effects are present.

Unlike Honor, the device has NFC, but this does not apply to all available models:

  • ATU-L11 LTE FDD with NFC
  • ATU-LX3/ATU-L21 LTE FDD without NFC
  • ATU-L22 LTE FDD/LTE TDD without NFC

Unfortunately, the cost of Huawei Y6 (2018) has not yet been announced, but presumably the price tag will not exceed 150 euros / 200 dollars / 12,500 rubles. Russia is among the available countries for sale.

Specifications Huawei Y6 (2018):

  • Operating system: Android 8.0 Oreo, EMUI 8.0
  • Screen: 5.7 inches, IPS, FullView, 1440 x 720, 282 ppi, 18:9, 75.4%
  • Processor: Quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 MSM8917, 1.4 GHz
  • Graphics accelerator: Adreno 308
  • RAM: 2 GB
  • ROM: 16 GB, MicroSD
  • Camera: 13 MP, PDAF, LED flash
  • Front camera: 5 MP, LED flash
  • Wireless interfaces: LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM radio, NFC (ATU-L11 only)
  • Sound: Huawei Histen
  • Connectors: mini-jack 3.5 mm, microUSB
  • Battery: non-removable, 3000 mAh
  • Number of SIM: 2, Nano-SIM
  • Dimensions: 152.4 x 73 x 7.8mm
  • Weight: 150 grams
  • Colors: black, blue, gold

In headphones, the sound, however, is far from the standard. On the one hand, the sound is very "smooth", that is, there is enough bass, and the vocals sound normal, and the "decorations" in the songs do not fall out anywhere. The volume reserve is good, even high-impedance headphones the smartphone can “shake” to a sufficient level.

But the sound quality, I would say, is “folk” - no matter how rich in detail the audio track in your player is, the sound in headphones is still the same as if you are listening to MP3 with a bit rate of 128-160 kbps. This seems to be due to the fact that the percussion sounds "poisonous", and the hissing sounds are played with a metallic tint and cut the ear.

Trouble, you say? Compared to the sound in the Snapdragon 410/615, it's really not good. But smartphones based on MT6735/6737/6753 sound even worse, and it’s impossible to tell about the sound in Spreadtrum processors without a mat. Therefore, the musical potential of the Y6II is more or less enough for ordinary workers, and no one invited audiophiles to the class of cheap phablets.

Iron

In the best traditions of the Russian automobile industry, our hero received an old stuffing with a new appearance. Say, "hey brother, don't call the car Lada-Sputnikwhen it comes to VAZ-2114!". Harasho, darling, I will not argue about marketing positioning, but the processor in Huawei Y6II cannot be called new even at a stretch, and this is worth talking about in more detail.

Huawei has long realized that it will be possible to create inexpensive smartphones only if the processors do not have to be bought on the side. Therefore, the Chinese have long been designing their own Hisilicon Kirin, and then their friends at TSMC churn out chips on an industrial scale. At first, Huawei released extremely slow "freaks" like the K3V2 (the culprit of the torment of the owners of the MediaPad 10 FHD) and Kirin 910 (formed the basis of the clumsy MediaPad X1 and Mate 2), but later the situation improved a little. In 2015, Huawei and Honor smartphones received quite sensible Kirin 620 (for state employees) and Kirin 930-935 (for older models).

Huawei Y6 2018 at first glance seems to be a slightly enlarged copy of the model. But in fact, there are quite a few differences, ranging from a different SoC to better cameras. However, not only this distinguishes the tested smartphone from its younger relative. For example, already during the initial examination, you can notice that the subject has a second microphone, as well as a dedicated system speaker, which the more accessible one does not have. But, as our testing has shown, the differences do not end there.

Appearance

Externally, Huawei Y6 2018 is barely noticeable from the smaller one. If you do not make a direct comparison, then these two smartphones are quite difficult to distinguish. However, there are still differences. The tested smartphone is much thinner, and the surface of the plastic frame is not matte, but glossy. In addition, there is a second microphone near the camera unit, and a dedicated system speaker at the bottom end.

The build quality is very high, but due to the large dimensions and rather small thickness, the smartphone lends itself well when trying to twist it, but, remarkably, it does not make any sounds, and rainbow stains do not appear on the display.

On the front above the display are proximity/light sensors, earpiece, front camera and front flash, and a status LED. On the back, you can see a block consisting of a camera and a flash, as well as a dedicated noise reduction microphone, which is also used for video recording.

On the left side surface, only the tray for separate installation of a pair of SIM cards and nanoSIM media is noticeable. On the right side are the usual lock and volume keys. It is worth noting that, unlike when tapping on the case, these keys do not rattle.

Only the standard audio jack is installed on top. At the bottom is the system speaker, microphone and microUSB connector. In 2018, at the price they ask for a tested smartphone, I want to see USB Type-C here. Of course, the used system-on-a-chip does not allow the implementation of a USB 3.0 port, but even without this, symmetrical USB Type-C is simply more convenient to use.

Display

The smartphone uses a rather large IPS-matrix with a diagonal of 5.7 inches, a resolution of 720 * 1440 pixels (HD+) and, accordingly, an aspect ratio of 18:9. With such a large display and a relatively low resolution, you can see the hotel points, but for this you will have to try. But if we remember that the Y6 2018 is still a relatively inexpensive smartphone, then such shortcomings can be forgiven. The display supports up to 10 simultaneous touches, which is twice as many as in the case of . However, it cannot be said that this is a significant advantage, because often the simultaneous recognition of 5 touches is more than enough for work.

The maximum brightness of the white field is 391.05 cd / m 2, which is slightly lower than that of. At the same time, the brightness of the black field, on the contrary, is slightly higher - 0.397 cd / m 2, which is why the final static contrast ratio is less - 985:1. However, the static contrast ratio is still good by the standards of smartphones.

In the display settings, only color temperature adjustment is provided. With the default settings, the color temperature is significantly overestimated, the blue component predominates in the color balance, and the Delta E color deviation on the gray wedge is quite large - up to 18.7, but on primary colors (RGBCMY) does not exceed 9.5, which is a good result for a relatively inexpensive smartphone. The gamma correction curve is quite far from the reference value.

Sound

Camera

The smartphone is equipped with a front camera with a resolution of 5 megapixels and f / 2.2 lens aperture. It seems to be the same as in . But the matrix, judging by the pictures, is completely different, and most importantly, with a large physical size, which allows you to get not too noisy pictures even with typical lighting in a residential area. A smartphone in low light is able to shoot quite good selfies with good detail, which is not expected from a budget solution.

Like the younger model, the experimental smartphone is equipped with a front-facing LED flash. And although outwardly the flash modules and Y6 2018 are extremely similar, their power differs significantly. The tested smartphone at a distance of 1 meter was able to provide illumination of 3.27 lux, against a miserable 1.37 lux for the younger model. But you should not rejoice too much, because the result shown is actually also extremely modest. For example, the front flash was able to produce 24.7 lux, which is currently a record figure among all smartphones we have tested.

The rear flash is also more powerful than that of the younger model, and the advantage is not purely formal, but very significant. When measured at a distance of 1 meter from the smartphone, a level of 33.7 lux was recorded. This is far from a record, but a very good indicator.

The rear camera is based on a sensor with a resolution of 13 megapixels and a lens with an aperture of f / 2.2. The optics are of better quality than in, so the blurring of the corners is much less pronounced. The manufacturer announced a 5-point phase autofocus, thanks to which the tested smartphone focuses quite quickly even in low light. The overall photo quality is higher than that of the younger model, but there are still enough shortcomings. To begin with, it is worth noting a rather narrow dynamic range. And everything would be fine, but if there are zones with a large difference in brightness in the frame, the automation is not able to correctly set the exposure - the pictures turn out to be either strongly overexposed, or, conversely, significantly underexposed. In principle, the HDR mode could have been saved here, but it is not activated automatically, and to call this function you have to go to the mode menu, which is not very convenient. If there are no large differences in brightness in the frame, then in good light, the smartphone is able to take shots of quite decent quality.

There is no manual mode in the settings, there is no possibility to select the sensitivity level or white balance settings, although these functions are provided in frankly budgetary ones. But the subject has a hidden trump card - the ability to transfer camera control using the Camera 2 API to third-party applications, where all standard settings are available. In addition, third-party software has the ability to shoot in RAW, which is extremely rare in budget smartphones.

To evaluate image quality, a test pattern was shot in Adobe Lightroom at ISO 100-3200 in 1 EV increments. Below are the crop snippets.

Snapshot examples

Illumination 3 lux + flash

Video recording

The system-on-a-chip used in the smartphone is limited to 1080/30p video recording. The smartphone manufacturer did not further limit the already modest video capabilities of the SoC, implementing the video recording mode to the fullest extent possible. Unlike the tested smartphone, there is no pronounced problem with blurring of the edges and corners of the image, and in general, the video quality is much higher.

Offline work

Huawei Y6 2018 is equipped with a 3000 mAh battery, which may seem insufficient for such a large smartphone. But, as testing has shown, the test subject is able to work for a long time on a single charge. The smartphone lasted 870 minutes in reading mode, 671 minutes in FullHD video playback mode, and 278 minutes in game mode.

The bundled charger is not particularly powerful - only 5W (5V / 1A), although the SoC used supports QuickCharge 2.0 fast charging technology. From 0 to 85%, the battery is charged in about 127 minutes, and fully charged in 160 minutes.

Conclusion

The tested smartphone is extremely similar to the recently reviewed one, both outside and inside. But at the same time, there are a lot of differences in small but important details. For example, Huawei Y6 2018 has a second microphone, a dedicated system speaker, and a very high class by the standards of budget smartphones. The front camera, judging by the declared characteristics, seems to be identical, but the noise level is lower, and the overall photo quality is higher. The main camera is equipped with a phase detection autofocus sensor, and the size of the rear photomatrix is clearly larger than that of the younger model. In addition, the subject has a significantly more powerful rear flash. The performance of the used system-on-a-chip is similar, but its energy efficiency is higher. It is also worth noting that there are modifications of Huawei Y6 2018 with an NFC module.

Minuses:
- low torsional rigidity of the case;
- No fingerprint reader
- a microUSB connector, which in 2018 is excusable only for frankly cheap models;
- almost useless front flash;
- low performance at the level of the more affordable Huawei Y5 2018.
Pros:
- high contrast display;
- loud system speaker with a very decent sound quality;
- a very good front camera;
- relatively powerful rear flash;
- long battery life.

, now it's the turn of two more models - Y5 2018 and Y6 Prime 2018. In the review, we will look at how they differ, share our impressions compared to the older model of the line (Y7 Prime) and try to answer the question - which Y-series smartphone can be called optimal?

Design

Using the Y7 Prime 2018 as an example, we realized that affordable Huawei smartphones cannot please the buyer with metal or glass cases, rather they are made with an eye to practicality - from plastic.

Huawei Y5 2018, Y6 Prime 2018 and Y7 Prime 2018

All models of the Y-series of 2018 are similar, they have a comparable design of the main cameras and the body of the same shape, but the sizes and, accordingly, the diagonals of the screens differ.

Huawei Y6 Prime 2018 is offered in three colors: gold, black and blue. The younger Y5 2018 has only two options - the body can be either black or blue, and the front panel will always be black.

The plastic cases have minimal differences. It is matte in all smartphones, but the Y6 Prime 2018 feels sleeker and more expensive. The build quality is good everywhere, there are no comments on the accuracy of fitting parts.

The location of the controls is standard: power and volume buttons on the right, MicroUSB connectors on the bottom, mini-jack on the top, SIM holders on the left. All smartphones allow you to use two NanoSIMs and a MicroSD memory card at the same time.

In addition to minimal differences in tactile sensations, there is a difference in the controls - only the Y6 Prime 2018 can boast a fingerprint scanner. At the same time, the budget of the Huawei Y5 2018 is manifested not only in the absence of a scanner, but also in the use of a single speaker.

Huawei Y5 2018 and Y6 Prime 2018 screens

Huawei Y5 and Y6 Prime 2018 are equipped with IPS screens with an aspect ratio of 18 to 9 and HD resolution - the diagonal of the first is 5.45 inches, the second - 5.7 inches. Both smartphones are smaller than the older Y7 Prime, equipped with a 6-inch display.

The quality of the screens is comparable to other entry-level devices. In general, the image looks good everywhere, but there are some nuances.

Huawei Y5 2018

The Huawei Y5 2018 has a slightly wider color gamut, and the color temperature is too high, so the image looks saturated, with a slight bias towards cold shades.

Huawei Y6 Prime 2018

The color gamut of the Y6 Prime 2018 display is slightly inferior to the Y5 2018, but by default the matrix differs in almost the reference color temperature, so the image as a whole is perceived more natural and pleasing to the eye. Also, do not forget about the "minor" differences from the Y5 - the presence of a 2.5D protective glass and a protective film installed out of the box, which many potential buyers will appreciate.

Both displays fade heavily in the sun, which is common with smartphones like this and measured brightness/contrast levels, but in the shade, all information is still legible. The devices are equipped with sensors for automatic brightness control.

Platforms

Huawei Y5 2018 and Y6 Prime 2018 are built on entry-mid-level platforms from MediaTek and Qualcomm, respectively. It is also worth noting that Ukraine also sells Y6 2018 . With all the prefixes in the names, it is easy to get confused in the variety of models, but it is worth remembering that the regular Y6 2018 lacks a fingerprint scanner and is equipped with smaller amounts of memory - 2/16 GB.

Despite the differences in memory sizes, the devices are equipped with comparable platforms that demonstrate almost identical results in benchmarks.

But in practice, everything is not so obvious. The speed of Y6 Prime 2018 is minimally different from which we met earlier. The smartphone is not reactive, but in general will suit an undemanding user who uses a small set of "light" applications. However, if we are talking about games, then everything is not lost either - at the minimum graphics settings, it normally "pulls" Asphalt Extreme, but on PUBG, the capabilities of iron are no longer enough.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the Y5 2018 - it is often thought of when performing many common operations, such as launching and minimizing applications or entering the menu. Obviously, at the start of sales, the software has not yet been fully adapted to the relatively new MediaTek platform, the company promises to fix this.

Otherwise, we have “twins” equipped with MicroUSB and mini-jack connectors, FM radio, Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth 4.2 modules, GPS, as well as a standard set of proximity, lighting, and rotation sensors.

Multimedia

As we have already noted, smartphones differ in the number of speakers - Huawei Y6 Prime 2018 has two speakers (one conversational and one multimedia), while Y5 2018 has a single speaker located above the screen, it is responsible for sounding alerts, used during conversations.

Huawei Y5 2018 sounds mediocre - when listening to music, the sound is quiet and not voluminous, but its capabilities are enough for normal communication during calls.

In contrast to the younger model, the Y6 Prime 2018 sounds noticeably better - there is a hint of volume, the volume is good, although in general it cannot be said that the speaker is fundamentally different from other smartphones.

Plus, the older device boasts the Histen equalizer - it allows you to adjust the sound in the headphones and, from a subjective point of view, makes it more pleasant.

Soft

Smartphones run Android Oreo. Huawei Y5 2018 is Android 8.1 paired with EMUI 8.1 (June 2018 security update), Y6 Prime 2018 is Android 8.0 and EMUI 8.0 respectively (May 2018 security update).

Huawei's proprietary shell is well known to us under other devices of the company. First of all, it has a wide range of customization options - you can customize the appearance of the interface, install themes that change the icons and appearance of standard applications.

The phone manager allows you to configure the access rights of applications to the Internet, the background operation of individual applications, manage black and white lists of calls / SMS, clear memory.

The standard applications of the file manager, gallery, calendar and others are also not bad - most likely, they will suit the potential user and he will not want to replace them with counterparts from third-party developers.

The above features can be called standard for all Huawei smartphones, but the Y6 Prime 2018 has a couple of features that the most affordable model cannot boast of.

First of all, it is a fingerprint scanner. It allows you to quickly unlock your smartphone, as well as open the notification panel, scroll through photos in the standard gallery, turn off alarms and answer calls - these functions are quite convenient in practice.

Another Y6 Prime 2018 is equipped with a face unlock function - recognition occurs using the front camera. In the presence of normal lighting, the function works quite quickly, and if it is dark around, you can use the scanner. Y5 2018 should receive the Face Unlock feature along with one of the upcoming updates.

Setting up system navigation on the Y6 is also more flexible - in addition to the location of the virtual keys, the navigation bar can be hidden in any applications or even replaced with a multi-function key with gesture support, which can be located anywhere on the screen.

Working hours

Smartphones are equipped with built-in batteries with a capacity of 3000 mAh. Included with each is a charger with parameters 5V / 1A.

The operating time of the models is directly proportional to the load - relatively active users will have to charge their smartphones once a day, and someone will get two days of work.

Huawei Y5 2018 and Y6 Prime 2018 cameras

Huawei Y5 2018 received a main camera with an 8 megapixel (f / 2.2) sensor with autofocus and flash and a front camera with a resolution of 5 megapixels (f / 2.0), also with flash.

Huawei Y6 Prime 2018 already offers a 13 MP main camera sensor (f / 2.2) and an 8 MP front module (f / 2.0, flash).

The camera application for smartphones is comparable - a minimum of shooting modes (there is "Decoration", HDR, panorama), only basic settings and color filters. At the same time, even from the characteristics it is clear that the models should shoot differently.

The Y5 2018 camera leaves an impression similar to smartphone performance - photos are obtained with poor detail, it is better not to shoot in medium and low light conditions, although daytime shots look fine. The video is bad.

Things are better with Huawei Y6 Prime 2018, the shooting quality, if inferior to the older Y7 Prime, is insignificant. In general, this device has the usual cameras for its price segment, which take acceptable pictures.

Site score

Pros: nice design, separate slot for two NanoSIMs and a memory card, fast fingerprint scanner and face unlock (Y6 Prime), normal screen and performance

Minuses: performance and cameras (Y5 Prime)

Conclusion: Acquaintance with inexpensive Huawei Y5 2018 and Y6 Prime 2018 brought both pleasant and not very impressions. The youngest model in the lineup (Y5) disappointed us in many ways with its speed and cameras. Perhaps it can be partially justified by the relatively low price of 3400 hryvnia, but we do not want to look for such "justifications". At the same time, the experience of using the Y6 Prime (2018) was comparable to the more expensive Y7 Prime. We will not call it “the best smartphone for 5000 hryvnia”, but in general we have a normal inexpensive device. In this segment, manufacturers go in two ways - someone is trying to provide more interesting hardware, and someone is trying to provide functionality comparable to flagships through software. Huawei is choosing the second way so far - an inexpensive smartphone is equipped with the same face unlock function, the design is vaguely reminiscent of the company's advanced models, which is generally not bad. It remains to answer the question posed at the beginning - which of the 2018 Y-series smartphones can be called optimal? Definitely not the Y5 2018. The rest of the models will offer a comparable experience - the Y6 will have Face Unlock, but modest amounts of memory and no scanner, which you can't blame the Y6 Prime for; and the Y7 Prime will offer a slightly more productive platform, a larger screen, and even a second main camera that will allow you to experiment with background blur. After evaluating their own needs and desires, everyone will be able to independently choose a more suitable device.
