Description:

Ritmix RPI-8001 is a car voltage inverter designed to power (charge) electronic devices powered by 220 volts or USB. 2 sockets, 2 USB ports. Probably, many are familiar with the situation when, when visiting an acquired land plot for the construction of a dacha, where it is still in its infancy, there is no way to do at least something, but you need to saw off here, drill here ... Or in the open air, especially in winter, when so by the way there would be hot tea. But, alas, the power of the cigarette lighter is not enough, and 220 volts is not observed nearby. This is where inverters can come in handy. Let's talk about them. So inverters. These are converters of direct voltage 12 V (24, 48 V), for example, from rechargeable batteries, to alternating voltage 220 V / 50 Hz, which supplies devices from a conventional network. The inverter amplifies the DC voltage by 10-20 times by switching to produce AC electrical impulses. This process is based on the use of powerful field-effect transistors. Inverters differ depending on the form of the generated AC voltage. If the voltage waveform is rectangular, stepped or trapezoidal, then such inverters are non-sinusoidal. Sometimes there is a load that is critical to the shape of the voltage, such as induction motors or transformers. It is undesirable to power such a load from a pseudo-sinusoidal inverter. If the voltage waveform repeats a sinusoid, then such inverters are considered sinusoidal. These inverters can power any AC load. For the test, we took Ritmix RPI-8001. Next, the method of comparative tests was estimated, which we followed when getting acquainted with the inverter. Immediately, we note that the model has a modified sinusoid at the output. Inverters with "pure sine" are 2-3 times more expensive and are much rarer. To begin with, we comprehensively examined each device. After that, voltage measurements were made at idle. The second stage was the connection of a load close to the maximum declared by the passport data. At the same time, voltage and current measurements were taken. At the end of the tests, a “real consumer” was connected to each inverter. The last was a conventional electric drill. And here is what we ended up with. RITMIX RPI-8001 Inverter produced by the Korean company Ritmix, packed in a cardboard box, has small dimensions and a neat appearance. Of the indisputable advantages, it is worth noting 2 euro sockets, placed at an angle for convenience, and 2 USB ports. However, there is no handle to carry the device. It may not be designed to be permanently transferred. For many, it lies in the cabin under the seat. The kit includes wires of small length with "crocodiles". A very concise instruction contains information in Russian about the connection and the rules for using the device. Warranty card included. The maximum output power of the inverter is 800W. There is a protection that turns off the device both at excessively low (9.2-9.8 V) and high voltage (15-16 V). The open circuit voltage is 223 V. When the load was connected, the voltage increased to critical 249 V at a current of 77 A. Recall that most consumers are designed for a maximum voltage of 240 V. A 10-minute load did not reveal heating of the device, which cannot be said about the wires. The latter turned out to be very warm, which indicates an insufficient cross section of the wires. It is possible that the wires are not designed for long-term use of the inverter. Connecting a standard 650 W electric drill caused the ammeter needle to deviate to 20 A. A few words about USB ports. A voltage of 4.93 V was recorded at the output. This is enough to power the gadgets. But to charge a modern smartphone may not be enough. At least 5 V is requested here.

Why we present these differences will become clear later.

For the test, we took the first inverters that came to hand. Which, of course, was not worth doing, but more on that later. Next, the method of comparative tests was estimated, which we followed when getting acquainted with each of the inverters. We note right away that all models had a modified sinusoid at the output. Pure sine inverters cost two to three times more and are much rarer.

RITMIX RPI-8001

The inverter manufactured by the Korean company Ritmix is packed in a cardboard box, has small dimensions and a neat appearance. Of the indisputable advantages, it is worth noting two euro sockets, placed at an angle for convenience, and two USB ports. However, there is no handle to carry the device.

The kit includes wires of small length with "crocodiles". A very concise instruction contains information in Russian about the connection and the rules for using the device. A warranty card is included.

The maximum output power of the inverter is 800W. There is a protection that turns off the device both at excessively low (9.2-9.8 V) and high voltage (15-16 V).

The idle voltage is 223 V. When the load was connected, the voltage increased to critical 249 V at a current of 77 A. Recall: most consumers are designed for a maximum voltage of 240 V.

A ten-minute load did not reveal the heating of the device, which cannot be said about the wires. The latter turned out to be very warm, which indicates an insufficient cross section of the wires.

A few words about USB ports. A voltage of 4.93 V was recorded at the output. This is enough to power the gadgets. But to charge a modern smartphone may not be enough. Here, at least 5 V is requested.

AIRLINE API-750-04

The inverter is packaged in a cardboard box, and it turned out to be the largest of all tested by us. The manufacturer's information is on the packaging. The voluminous instruction in Russian contains all the necessary information. There is also a semblance of a warranty card, however, without specifying the addresses of service centers.

The device has only one Euro socket and one USB port. There is also a display showing input voltage, output power and a fault code. Also, this device was the only one with a soft start function.

The maximum output power of the inverter is 750W. There is a protection that turns off the device both at excessively low (10 V) and high voltage (15 V). In passing, we note that a special voltmeter is required to measure the true voltage, as indicated in the product data sheet.

Of the shortcomings, it is worth noting the lack of a handle (this is with its dimensions!), rather small “crocodiles”.

The open circuit voltage is 190 V. In fact, the figure turned out to be incorrect, since a special voltmeter was required. When the load was connected, the voltage increased to 230 V at a current of 72 A. Compared with the previous device, the efficiency of this device turned out to be higher.

A ten-minute load did not reveal the heating of the device, but the wires heated up to a noticeable heat. It seems that here they saved on the cross section of wires.

Connecting a standard 650 W electric drill caused the ammeter needle to deviate to the same mark of 20 A.

A voltage of 4.96 V is fixed at the output of the USB port. This is enough to power gadgets. But for charging is not enough, in fact, as in the first case.

ENERGY EG- PWC-004

In a cardboard box was a device of moderate size. We did not find any information about the manufacturer, and they were not in the instruction manual, which, by the way, is presented exclusively in English. Probably for this reason there is no semblance of a warranty card.

The device has only one euro socket. The USB port is missing as a class. Generally speaking, the device seemed somewhat condo.

The maximum output power is 800W. There is a protection that turns off the device both at excessively low (10.5 V) and high voltage (15 V). In addition, this inverter has a conventional automotive fuse. If the two previous samples were quite "heat-loving" - the operating temperature range is from 0 to +40 ... 45 ° C, then this device, according to passport data, allows it to be used up to -10 ° C.

The open circuit voltage is 214 V. When the load is connected, the voltage increased to 242 V (with a stretch it can be considered acceptable) at a current of 75 A.

The ten-minute load was unpleasantly surprising. This is the only fixture that got hot during the run. Although the wires were warm, but not much.

Connecting a standard 650 W electric drill caused the ammeter needle to deviate to 20 A.

ACME POWER D.S.-800

But with this device there was a misfortune. Without examining the passport data, we took a 24 V inverter for a test. As a result, this is what happened.

Taking the device out of the box, we found a fairly compact inverter. It had one euro socket and one USB port. The only thing that surprised me was the ridiculously thin wires and toy "crocodiles". Due to the small dimensions, the manufacturer considered the carrying handle redundant. A huge instruction in English contained a lot of information, moreover, about all types of inverters manufactured by the company. Although the manufacturer himself was not indicated in the document. The warranty card was also missing.

When connecting the device, the buzzer announced an excessively low voltage. But we were unaware that it was designed for 24 V. As a result, we took the device to a service center, where they explained to us the reason for our ordeals.

Well, I had to abandon the subsequent testing of this device due to an incorrect comparison. This contraption can be recommended to drivers of heavy trucks with an on-board network of 24 V.

What can be said in conclusion? Since the cigarette lighter can power devices with a power of no more than 150 W through the inverter, a more powerful inverter can be a good help in the household. But it must be remembered that it should be connected directly to the battery and only for a short time. Otherwise, you risk staying in the place where you arrived.

True, there is a way out: periodically start the engine to recharge the battery or use the device with the engine running, while it is better to fix the negative “crocodile” on the “mass” of the car and the farther from the battery, the better.

Well, the last limitation. Inverters, as it turned out, really do not like sub-zero temperatures. So with a seagull in the frost will have to wait. However, you should not despair. Now in large quantities they produce mugs-thermoses heated from the cigarette lighter for motorists.
