Review and testing of the ASUS Memo Pad tablet. Equipment ASUS Memo Pad Smart Appearance, materials, controls, assembly

23.09.2020

The Taiwanese company ASUS continues to develop the line of budget tablets MEMO Pad. Last year, the company released the first two devices from this series - a ten-inch Smart 10 "(ME301T) and a very simple seven-inch ME172V with a TN matrix and a single-core processor. The first gadget was quite successful, but the younger one was not very successful. We didn't even write about him.

It's time to improve. This year at Computex, the company also updated the older model, which received a high-resolution screen and intel processor Atom, and the younger one, to which today's material is devoted. The MEMO Pad HD 7 has more than enough differences compared to its predecessor - now it is a truly full-fledged tablet, which costs very little, but at the same time proudly carries the ASUS logo on the rear panel.

⇡ Appearance

The exterior of the tablet gives out its low cost: the gadget is rather plump - its thickness, taking into account the protruding rim of the rear camera, is a little more than a centimeter - and the design of the case as a whole is devoid of any frills. A typical seven-inch tablet on Android.

ASUS MEMO Pad HD 7 - front panel

There are no navigation keys on the front of the tablet. The standard operating system buttons "Back", "Menu" and "Home" are software, they are located directly on the screen. At the top of the panel is the front camera lens.

ASUS MEMO Pad HD 7 full face

The layout of the tablet controls is quite familiar. Power and volume control buttons are located on the upper end of the device, the micro-USB interface and 3.5 mm audio jack are placed on the left side. The headphone jack does not have the best location - during operation, it is this place that you want to grab with your hand. The memory card slot is located at the bottom.

ASUS MEMO Pad HD 7 - sides

The back of the tablet is made of plastic, which is far from the most durable. The "back" of the MEMO Pad HD 7 is easily scratched, and gets dirty pretty quickly. The panel is glossy, untextured, however, despite this, the tablet does not strive to slip out of your hands. The rear side of the device houses the lens of the main 5-megapixel camera and a slit for the external speaker.

Assembled ASUS MEMO Pad HD 7 is quite good. During testing, we did not find any critical backlashes. The plastic creaks a little when the case is squeezed, but we are already used to this. On sale, this tablet can theoretically be found in different colors: white, pink, light green, dark blue and dark gray.

ASUS MEMO Pad HD 7 - Various Colors

The front side will be black anyway, and only the back panel is different in color. Interestingly, the first three of the listed versions have glossy backs, while the last two have matte backs. So this tablet is also suitable for those who value practical design - they just need to pay attention to the dark colors.

I don’t know if you noticed it or not, but in the middle segment among large manufacturers there is now a lull, no one produces interesting models, only regular repetitions of the existing ones (an excellent example of this situation is Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1), and amid this stagnation, the new tablets from Asus are like a breath of fresh air. MeMO Pad FHD 10 for its price is interesting first of all for the screen resolution, but let's talk about everything in order.

Equipment

  • The tablet
  • Charger
  • PC cable
  • Documentation

The tablet comes in trapezoidal packaging - an unusual solution, previously seen only in Apple's new iMacs. As for the rest, you cannot say much about the package bundle, large brands do not pamper customers with additional accessories in the kit.

Appearance, materials, controls, assembly

Before us is a typical tablet from Asus, which has a strict calm design without any frills. Most of the front side is occupied by a screen with a diagonal of 10.1 inches. Above it you can see the peephole of the front camera and the light sensor.

On the top there is a power button and a microphone hole. The location of the button is good: if you hold the tablet horizontally, then it lies directly under the index finger of the left hand.

On the right are the 3.5 mm jack and the volume rocker. As in the case of the power button, it is located directly under the index finger, however, this time we are talking about the left hand.

On the left you can see a slot for a microSDHC memory card, a microHDMI connector and a microUSB connector.

The back of the device is made of matte rubberized plastic with fine ornaments. The use of such material has a great effect on tactile sensations - the tablet is very pleasant even to hold in your hands. There is a place on the back for stereo speakers and the main camera. The speakers have excellent volume and sound (for this kind of device), I was pleasantly surprised. Only their location is upsetting, because when you hold the tablet, you will simply cover them with your hands.

There is only one complaint about the assembly - the back cover bends a little when you press firmly on the central part. The feeling that this is not so much an assembly problem as a design feature (apparently, there is a little empty space under the lid, because of which this happens).

There will be three color options for sale: black, white and pink.

Dimensions

The MeMO Pad FHD 10 is a typical ten-inch tablet in terms of size. However, its dimensions are slightly larger than that of the latest Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.

  • Asus MeMO Pad FHD 10 - 264.6x182.4x9.5 mm, weight 580 grams
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 - 243x176x8 mm, weight 512 grams
  • Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD - 258x176x9 mm, weight 580 grams

The tablet is easy to use with two hands, but it is inconvenient to hold it on the weight for a long time (this is a problem with all ten-inch tablets).

Screen

Display diagonal - 10.1 inches, resolution - 1920x1200 pixels, matrix type - IPS, protective coating - glass, automatic brightness control, oleophobic coating is present.

The screen left only positive impressions: a high level of brightness, maximum viewing angles, clear images and text, as well as natural colors. Together with the oleophobic coating, we get an excellent display for everyday activities (mail, twitter, web surfing, reading books and watching videos).

In the sun, the screen fades almost completely.

The device has a special program Asus Splendid, which is responsible for adjusting the color scheme.

operating system

The tablet runs Android 4.2.1 with a few additions from the manufacturer. You can find a detailed overview of Android 4.2.x at the link below.

Asus left the Android interface almost unchanged, but at the same time added a number of very interesting improvements that almost do not affect the interface and can be disabled.

I covered all the Asus add-ons in detail in my Padfone 2 review, and if you want to refresh your mind, you can reread that article.

It remains for me to repeat once again that all the additions from Asus are perfectly integrated into "pure" Android and at the same time hardly change the system interface itself.

Performance

The tablet is based on the Intel Atom Z2560 platform with a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor and PowerVR SGX 544MP video accelerator. Volume random access memory - 2 GB, internal storage capacity - 32 GB (about 25 GB available to the user), microSDHC memory cards up to 64 GB are supported.

I have already dealt with Intel Atom in Android tablets, and then it left only positive impressions (speed, heating, battery life), so it was interesting to see how this platform performs in MeMO Pad FHD 10.

As for everyday tasks, the tablet's capacity is enough for the eyes to read articles on the Internet, mail, twitter and flip through desktops without any problems.

The device works great with the latest powerful games. The only problem is that Asphalt 8 is not available for him in the Play Store.

But the heating has increased in comparison with the same FonePad. In heavy games, the upper left corner of the tablet is noticeably heated. However, even in games, we usually rarely touch this area.

Autonomous work

The battery capacity is not listed on the official website, so I'll just tell you how the tablet performed in battery life tests.

In reading mode (brightness 30%, "airplane mode" on) the tablet was discharged in 12 hours.

In video mode, the device was charged for 6 hours and 20 minutes (maximum brightness, "airplane mode" is on).

If we talk about everyday use (brightness 40-50%, the total screen activity is about an hour a day), then the tablet can perfectly hold out for 5-6 days without recharging.

Separately, I would like to note the excellent operation of the device in standby mode: its charge practically does not "drain". The tablet, among other things, has a separate configurable power saving mode.

These are good numbers considering that the screen resolution has been raised to FullHD.

Wireless interfaces

Wi-Fi (b / g / n) - the module supports operation at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. In addition to simple network connection, Wi-Fi Direct and MiraCast functions are available.

Bluetooth 3.0 - all popular profiles are supported, including A2DP.

GPS and GLONASS - a cold start takes about two minutes, the tablet looks for satellites for a very long time.

Camera

The tablet has two cameras: the front one is 1.2 MP and the main one is 5 MP.

You can rate the pictures of the main camera from the photos below. In my opinion, the tablet produces good macro shots, but the rest of the camera does not stand out.

Video shooting is carried out in a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The front camera is great for Skype video calls, the image quality is on par with other tablets.

Conclusion

Retail prices for MeMO Pad FHD 10 are as follows:

  • Wi-Fi 32 GB - 14,000 rubles
  • Wi-Fi + LTE 32 GB - 19,000 rubles

For the money, you get a tablet with a great screen, good battery life and one of the last android versions on board. I did not notice any obvious flaws in the device (except for a slight bend of the lid in the center). In general, this is a great offer for the money.

Competitors

Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD... A formidable competitor from Huawei. Among the advantages, it is worth noting the aluminum body and lower cost. For example, the version with 32 GB and LTE will cost 17,700 rubles, and the version with only Wi-Fi - 13,500 rubles. Advantages of MeMO Pad FHD 10: oleophobic screen coating (its presence greatly affects the usability), Android 4.2 (MediaPad 4.0) and a standard microUSB connector (MediaPad has its own connector).

Evgeny Vildyaev (

I think it's not a secret for anyone that B-brands dominate in the segment up to ten thousand, first-tier manufacturers simply cannot squeeze in there for many reasons, one of them is an aggressive price war. And yet, Asus almost succeeded (retail price of a tablet ~ 12,500 rubles) to enter this segment with a very good offer.

Equipment

  • The tablet
  • Charger
  • PC cable
  • Warranty card

The box of the tablet looks quite simple, apparently, this is due to Asus's involvement in the fight to preserve the environment.

Design, materials, controls

The model looks like a typical Asus tablet, it is very similar to the Asus Transformer TF201, but the back is made of plastic, not aluminum. Most of the front panel is occupied by a ten-inch touchscreen, and above it is the front camera peephole.

On the left side you can see microUSB and microHDMI connectors, and just below - a slot for a microSDHC memory card (cards up to 32 GB are supported). In addition, the microphone holes and "Reset" are located here.

On the right are a volume rocker and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The swing has a short stroke and is not always easy to find in the dark.

The power button was decided to be located on the left side of the upper end. It also has a short stroke, but unlike the rocker, it is convenient to use.

The back is made of soft-touch matte plastic. In the MeMO Pad Smart line, Asus decided to play with the body colors, in total there will be three colors available: white, dark blue and pink. The Russian office made fun of me a little and issued a pink sample for the test, it looks, of course, spectacular, but in the metro and the bus, I never stopped catching the surprised looks of other passengers. Still, this color is focused on the fair sex.

On the back you can see a grid of two stereo speakers, as well as a peephole of the main 5 MP camera.

There are no complaints about the assembly, the tablet is perfectly assembled, nothing creaks, no backlash, no staggering.

Dimensions

In terms of length and width, MeMO Pad Smart is a typical representative of ten-inch tablets, but the thickness and weight made me very happy. The fact that the tablet tapers at the edges also enhances the two-handed grip.

  • Asus MeMO Pad Smart 10 - 263x181x9.9 mm, weight 580 grams
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 - 256x175x9.7 mm, weight 588 grams
  • Acer A211 - 260x175x12 mm, weight 711 grams

Screen

The device uses a display with a diagonal of 10.1 ", resolution - 1280x800 pixels, matrix type - IPS, multitouch is supported up to ten simultaneous touches. There is also a light sensor.

Apparently, this is not a vaunted S-IPS matrix, but it feels just a little worse. The screen is really cool with excellent viewing angles, natural colors, high brightness and good picture clarity. However, it glares in the sun and the image quality deteriorates significantly.

operating system

The tablet runs Android 4.1.2 with minor additions from Asus.

First, a proprietary notification panel is installed with quick access to switches and settings. You can turn it off if you want.

Secondly, the App Backup and Web Storage utilities are preinstalled. By the way, the Asus cloud does not have a very high download speed, I tried to download my backup from Padfone 2, which I uploaded there a couple of months ago, so it downloaded these 150 MB for a rather long time (about 30 minutes).

Thirdly, branded wallpapers with a tree are used, I personally really like them.

Otherwise, we have before us "pure" Android 4.1 with all its advantages and disadvantages. By the way, Asus did not remove the browser from 4.0, as Google did in the Nexus line.

Performance

The processor is a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3, clocked at 1.2 GHz. The amount of RAM is 1 GB, the capacity of the internal storage is 16 GB, there is a slot for a memory card. I have already talked about Tegra 3 and its features many times, so I suggest you familiarize yourself with that material yourself.

There are no complaints about performance and speed, the combination of a good processor and Android 4.1 was finally able to overcome the interface brakes. There are no complaints about games either, let me remind you that a separate store with NVIDIA exclusives is available for Tegra.

Autonomous work

Unfortunately, I was not able to find out the battery capacity in this model, but this did not prevent me from conducting several tests for autonomy.

In HD video viewing mode at maximum brightness with airplane mode turned on, the tablet lasted 7 hours and 30 minutes.

In reading mode (brightness 10% + airplane mode, automatic page turning on) the operating time was almost 9 hours.

The results, in my opinion, are very good, you can use MeMO Pad Smart in quiet mode for about a week.

In addition, the tablet has a power saving mode, you can fine-tune the behavior of the device when a certain percentage of the charge is reached.

Multimedia

The IPS-matrix display is excellent for reading, demonstrating high definition of fonts and a low threshold for minimum brightness. Personally, I enjoyed reading books and articles on the Internet from this device.

Natural colors and high brightness levels allow you to comfortably watch any HD video, and Tegra 3 can handle most videos in FullHD-resolution.

Sound

Usually I don't write about sound separately, but MeMO Pad Smart made me very happy with this parameter. Firstly, the stereo speakers have a good volume margin, secondly, they do not wheeze even at maximum volume, and thirdly, the latest tablets and Padfones from Asus come with a preinstalled Audio Wizard program, which is a global equalizer. Be sure to try this program if you buy a tablet. For example, the Music mode significantly increases the volume of the instruments, while the Video mode, oddly enough, is great for listening to vocals.

Of course, MeMO Pad Smart is not a profile audiophile device, but the sound quality of its external speakers pleased even such a music layman as me.

Interfaces

Wi-Fi (b / g / n) - there are no complaints about the operation of the module, it perfectly catches the network, even in places with a bad signal. The device supports Wi-Fi Direct function.

GPS - cold start takes ten seconds. This is a very good indicator.

Bluetooth v3.0 EDR + A2DP - all popular profiles are supported, you can transfer files using Bluetooth, connect headsets and even a Bluetooth keyboard (however, for the keyboard to work correctly, I recommend installing the Russian Keyboard program).

The device also has an accelerometer, light sensor, gyroscope, electronic compass.

Camera

The tablet has two cameras: the main one is 5 MP and the front one is 1.2 MP. I don't think that someone will often use the main camera, except for shooting text, and she copes with it with a bang.

The front camera supports Skype video calls, although the device is not officially certified to work with it yet. The picture quality is mediocre.

Conclusion

Personally, I liked the MeMO Pad Smart, after testing many Chinese and semi-Chinese tablets, products from the A-brand feel like a breath of fresh air: no brakes, no crashes, no problems with games or incompatibility of programs. Stability is just one of the advantages of the MeMO Pad Smart.

In addition, I was very pleased with its screen: a really good quality IPS-matrix. And the rest of the tablet did not disappoint: powerful "filling", nice design, several colors, Android 4.1, dimensions.

The only drawback I would say is the lack of modifications with a 3G module.

pros:

  • High-quality IPS-matrix
  • Android 4.1
  • Slim and lightweight
  • Speed \u200b\u200band stability
  • Good external speakers

Minuses:

  • Lack of 3G module

ASUS started production of mobile gadgets not so long ago. But in a short period of time, she managed to achieve certain heights and deserve constant fans of the products. In particular, this applies to the 7 ME170C tablet, which is positioned as a budget option. Despite this, it implements many modern solutions for maximum productivity.

The tablet has a beautiful and stylish appearance, bright and colorful screen, average power ratings. It is perfect for daily use, combining light weight, modern solutions and all the functions that can be found in such gadgets.

MeMO Pad 7 will become for any one of the best assistants, not only in while-away time, but also in work, study and personal affairs. The compact size allows the tablet to fit in a pocket or bag.

Let's start the review of the gadget with one of the main points by which the user first of all evaluates the usefulness of the device - technical characteristics. So, in the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 tablet, they are as follows:

Specifications ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C
operating system Android 4.2, in most cases, it is immediately updated to version 4.4
Screen 7 ″, TFT IPS, 1024 × 600 pixels, capacitive, 5-point multitouch, glossy, 170 ppi, oleophobic coating

Connectors Micro-USB (with OTG support), 3.5mm headphone jack
Camera rear (2 Mp) and front (0.3 Mp)

Battery 3950 mAh
Additionally accelerometer, gyroscope, microphone
Dimensions 192х110 × 10.7 mm
Weight 285 g
Price $130

As you can see from the indicators, this tablet clearly belongs to the budget line, and even the cost speaks about it. But if you look in more detail, you can stumble upon very interesting features, thanks to which the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C compares favorably with its competitors.

Equipment

So, you have decided to purchase this gadget. What awaits us inside a beautiful, durable and small box? Opening the lid, we see a tablet lying on top, which is packed in a protective shipping film. ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C is located on a kind of cardboard pedestal. Removing the gadget and the stand, you can see other items of the package in the form of a charging power supply and a USB cable. All these elements are neatly wrapped in plastic. Under them are instructions for use and a warranty card. As you can see, there is nothing superfluous here. Everything is neat, smooth and of high quality.

Design

Taking the tablet out of the protective packaging, we see in front of us a device typical for this price category. But there is a difference here - the glossy surface of the back cover. It looks very handy with a simple design.

Taking the tablet in hand, you can feel another difference - the low weight. Turning the device to face us, we see the display, which, thanks to a thin frame of standard sizes, occupies almost the entire panel. On the bottom, if you hold the tablet vertically, there is a proprietary ASUS inscription, and on the top and on the right there is a front camera. The manufacturer has installed one speaker in the center of the upper section - the gadget works only in mono mode.

At the back of the tablet, everything is done without unnecessary elements. Only 2 megapixels and underneath the inscription in large letters ASUS. Nothing sticks out to the touch, and everything is on the same level.

As for the shaking edges, the lower one, if you place the tablet vertically, does not have any slots and outputs. The top rib includes a USB output and a headphone jack. The solution is quite convenient - if you flip the tablet to a horizontal position, the wire does not interfere with viewing... On the right, the manufacturer installed a volume rocker and a lock button (on and off). The left edge has only a slot for a USB flash drive.

The tablet is made with high quality, durable materials and good, reliable connections. Nothing creaks here, does not move and does not give backlash.

Another feature that we will definitely include in our review is color schemes. Manufacturers often make their devices in two colors - white and black. ASUS has decided to slightly expand these restrictions. For this reason, on the shelves you can find the following colors of the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C tablet:

  • blue;
  • red;
  • the black;
  • white;
  • grey.

Thanks to such a wide range of colors, it will perfectly suit any style of clothing and can even act as an accessory.

Display

As already mentioned, the screen we are considering takes up more space than usual. Maybe for this reason the device itself as a whole sits very comfortably in the hand. But back to the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C display.

This gadget has a standard 7-inch screen for the line. The matrix resolution is 1024 × 600 pixels. Thanks to a special technology called Asus Splendid, the user can easily and quickly adjust the settings in accordance with the required tasks.

Naturally, such a screen has a minus in the form of small viewing angles. But this is fully justified and fully corresponds to the price.

Thanks to the applied oleophobic coating, you can not worry about the appearance of prints on the glass.

The sensor has good response and can support up to five points simultaneously. This is enough for convenient standard use.

Performance

In the gadget ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C, the Intel Atom processor with the Z2520 index is implemented as a "brain". It has two cores with clock frequency 1.2 GHz. It seems to be a standard, but such a solution allows you to speed up data processing as much as possible. A GPU called Power VR SGX544 paired with a brain to easily handle the most demanding 3D graphics applications.

Having tested the tablet using all popular benchmarks, we can already draw some conclusions. In terms of performance and graphics processing speed, they all gave ratings above average, which is very encouraging. Naturally, now there are a lot of "Chinese" who are very much in line with the characteristics of the gadget in question. But the performance and quality of components prevails over cheapness.

Multimedia

You can start your multimedia overview with standard built-in programs. Among them are video and audio player. The first one has rather weak indicators, so here you need to reinstall it immediately. As for the audio, though everything is standard here, it is very high quality. If there is a wireless headset that works via Bluetooth, a special audio encoder has been created specifically for it. It compresses audio into aptX format with minimal loss in quality. However, the packet size does not exceed the minimum bandwidth of the transmission method.

You can also connect to your TV via a wireless connection. Naturally, you need to have a compatible device, but due to modern technology, this is not a problem. This solution allows you to easily view videos of any length in the highest quality. This is very good for a budget tablet.

Autonomous working time

The tablet has at its disposal a capacity of 3950 mAh. It allows you to work in offline up to 10 hours without recharging. It should be said that this is the time of active use. If it is moderate, then the "life" of the tablet will last up to one and a half days.

This is possible thanks to a large battery and a rather economical small display. If the tablet is operated in a heavy load mode, the battery will last for 7 hours.

Cameras

ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C has two cameras at its disposal: front 0.3 megapixel and the main one, which has a 2 megapixel matrix. With the help of the first, you can easily conduct video communication. Naturally, it is not enough to take real high-quality pictures. As for the second camera, everything is much better here. It is designed for medium quality snapshots and video recording. If the lighting of the room is good, then the photos are excellent.

As for the color rendition, everything is very good here. The colors are as natural and saturated as possible. All this is achieved thanks to special algorithms and optical components.

OS and software

The tablet is equipped with operating system version 4.2. According to user reviews, it is immediately updated to 4.4, which is good news. In some cases, this procedure is not performed for unknown reasons, but in 90% of cases there are no problems with the update.

The tablet has a proprietary software shell. More than 200 add-ons and applications are embedded into it, which greatly facilitate the work with the tablet. These are utilities for working with images, and applications for adjusting the operating time, power consumption, etc.

Don't ignore the built-in Time Rewind, All Smile and Smart Remove functions. They are designed to work with photographs. The first application can take 3 frames in 3 seconds (2 before pressing the photo button and 1 after). The second - takes 5 shots, which will greatly simplify the choice of the best photo... The third application can remove unwanted moving objects without losing image quality.

The tablet is equipped with standard software for navigation and wireless communication.

Competitors

Among the main competitors of the tablet, you can find both eminent manufacturers and not so much. Among them are Lenovo with its A3300 and A3500, Google with its Nexus tablet. But it is worth noting that if they are similar in technical characteristics, they differ greatly in cost. Among them, the hero of our review is the most accessible. And his cameras are much better.

Pros and cons

Among the advantages of the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C tablet are:

  • the presence of an oleophobic coating;
  • excellent battery life;
  • good technical characteristics and an exclusive shell;
  • low cost of the device.

The disadvantages are:

  • small viewing angle of the display;
  • rather narrow bezels around the screen.

Small but good specimen

Taking this tablet for the first time, you can immediately fall in love with it. And this is understandable, because high-quality assembly, light weight and excellent performance indicators fit perfectly into the price. All the minor flaws that can be found in the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C tablet are more than covered by a long battery life. It is ideal for games, work and just passing the time.

So, one of latest models is the Asus MeMO Pad 7. This is an attractive and powerful device that can be purchased at a very affordable price.

Main characteristics

  • screen - 7 inches;
  • glossy display finish;
  • resolution - 1280 x 800 pixels;

  • battery - 3910 mAh;
  • weight - 295 g.

What's in the box

Asus MeMO Pad 7 is available to users in two modifications, which differ in the amount of built-in memory. So, buyers can choose the option for 8 or 16 GB. It is worth noting that both variants are sold in the same package, which includes the following:

  • directly the gadget itself;
  • charger;
  • uSB cable;
  • user manual and other documentation.

For those looking to further protect their Asus MeMO Pad 7, there are several branded cases available. They can be purchased separately.

What the device looks like

Tablet Asus MeMO Pad 7 has a 7-inch screen, traditional for such devices. With a fairly compact size, the device weighs 295 grams. It looks much sleeker and smaller than previous tablet models from this manufacturer. To achieve this, the manufacturer decided to reduce the size of the frames to the maximum possible, so that this would not affect the usability.

Looking at the front of the Asus MeMO Pad 7, above the screen you can see the front camera (2 megapixel) peephole, and below - the corporate logo. The body is framed by a metal frame, which serves only as a decorative function. The back panel is as laconic as possible. It is made of matte plastic in several colors. Above there is a camera peephole (5 megapixels), under it - the company logo. At the very bottom is a long speaker slot.

Looking at the edges of the Asus MeMO Pad hd 7 case, you will notice that bottom part completely free of connectors. Above is the headphone jack, USB cable, and microphone. On the left side there is a slot for a memory card. On the right, you can find the power button as well as the volume rocker.

Device functionality

Speaking of the Asus MeMO Pad hd 7 screen, it is worth noting that it is equipped with an IPS matrix. The user can adjust the brightness of the image in the range of 10-265 cd / sq. m. It is proposed to do this exclusively manually, since there is no special sensor for automatic adjustment. The display supports up to 10 touches. This is important for those users who are addicted to games. It is also worth noting that you can independently adjust the saturation and color rendering temperature. Thus, experts assess the screen quality as average.

The Asus MeMO Pad 7 tablet, unlike its predecessors, which were powered by VIA and MediaTek processors, is equipped with a 4-core Intel chip. The frequency can range from 1.33 to 1.86 GHz. Built-in modules such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS are responsible for wireless communication. In the video viewing mode, autonomous work can be provided up to 10 hours.

Device interface

Asus MeMO Pad 7 runs on Android 4.4 system. Ease of use is ensured by the proprietary shell. The interface looks interesting enough and is easy to use. Compared to previous versions, the lock screen, menus and settings panel have been significantly redesigned. Service panel buttons can be changed according to user preferences.

On a positive note, it is worth noting that all programs that you installed yourself are in a separate window. This makes it much easier to work with the device. As for the preinstalled programs, these are mainly utilities for setting up multimedia functions, file managers and all kinds of ways to optimize the device.

  • formatting of the memory card is not provided, and therefore it will have to be done using third-party devices;

  • many unnecessary preinstalled programs that cannot be removed without installing "root-rights" (only deactivation is available);

  • when updating the software, there may be malfunctions in the operation of the device, and therefore it is better to immediately disable this function when purchasing;
  • in "heavy" games there may be some problems with the reproduction of the soundtrack;
  • the modification of the device and the delivery set differ in different regions, which creates some difficulties in choosing;
  • if you do not "overclock" the battery by several cycles of full discharge and charge up to 100%, it will last no more than an hour and a half;
  • the volume rocker is located too high, and therefore it is inconvenient to work with it.
