Honestly, we don't know why so many people are still interested in the release date. Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The new items were presented on March 1, 2015, and soon hit the shelves of retail chains. However, for some reason some people are still interested in this question.

Also, for the most curious, we note that the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S6 in Russia took place on March 16, when the smartphone officially went on sale.

In general, the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S6 was different in different regions of the world. But unlike the company's other Galaxy Note line, in the case of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge there was no such extended period of time.

Of course, fans of Samsung products from South Korea. Here, owning a smartphone made by it is considered a kind of patriotic act, and the release of flagship devices is a national event.

In general, the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge took place almost simultaneously with its main competitors, primarily HTC One M9 (Hima), and was not crossed by the release of such an important rival as Apple iPhone 6S. As for Apple phones, since the release date of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus (see), Samsung has had enough time to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of competing models, draw appropriate conclusions and implement solutions. At the same time, there were almost six months left before the release of the updated Apple flagship.

A little later is the release date for the Samsung Galaxy S6 on the US and Chinese markets, followed by European and CIS countries.

Samsung Galaxy S6 release date in Russia

Unlike the Galaxy Note 4, when it came to the release date of the Galaxy S6 on the Russian market, Samsung did not slow down and the smartphones arrived on shelves on time. However, despite the difficult economic situation in the country, the demand turned out to be so great that most of the pipes were swept off the shelves literally in the very first days. This is especially true for the Galaxy S6 Edge.

In light of the rising US dollar, the release of the Samsung Galaxy S6 in Russia had certain nuances. However, unlike Apple, Samsung does not strictly tie the cost of its devices to the dollar, using a more flexible policy, since the same or even much greater profits can be obtained at a lower price. In addition, the first purchases of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge fell on a period of relatively high ruble exchange rates, making the smartphone quite affordable for the average consumer from Russia.

The “spring flagship” of the Korean giant Samsung has become a “new chapter” in the history of the company’s products. Glass, metal, QHD display, “human” fingerprint scanner - everything is in place. Processor - Exynos 7420, 3 gigabytes random access memory, support for all kinds of wireless charging standards in the absence of a replaceable battery and from 32 to 128 gigabytes of internal memory in the absence of a microSD slot complete the picture. Cameras of 16 and 5 megapixels with an aperture of 1.9 are included.

After the release of the Galaxy S9, prices for smartphones in Russia went up, and even last year’s flagships are now too expensive. Some find salvation at flea markets, but smartphones are often sold there, the quality of which is highly doubtful (as well as the honesty of the sellers). Here we immediately remember the SmartPrice service, which allows you to buy original smartphones much cheaper than the average market price. Moreover, now he has last year’s (and not only) Samsung flagships!

It’s no secret that prices for Samsung smartphones in Russia leave much to be desired—the pricing policy even for the manufacturer’s older models is sometimes difficult to understand. In this case, the SmartPrice service comes to the rescue, which we talked about not so long ago. Not only does SmartPrice allow you to buy smartphones much cheaper than the average market price, but it also has a sale that will last a whole week!

Until recently, in Russia, the use of a trade-in program when purchasing equipment was not particularly popular, but everything changed with the advent of the SmartPrice service, which helps you profitably and with maximum convenience trade in your old one and buy new smartphone. Those who pay attention have probably already used the services of SmartPrice, like thousands of other service clients. AndroidInsider, as the official information partner of SmartPrice, continues to monitor the development of this site in Russia (for our readers - a promotional code for a discount at the bottom of the article).

Giving a smartphone has long been considered appropriate for major holidays like New Year or birthday. This is understandable - you don’t want to give cheap Chinese consumer goods, and good smartphones are too expensive to pamper your loved ones with such a gift for any occasion. But thanks to the advent of the SmartPrice service, you can even give smartphones on February 14, February 23 or March 8.

This year, Samsung Electronics will break its own tradition of updating branded smartphones and will release it for devices that were three years old. This follows from the materials of the official website of the American operator T-Mobile, where confirmation of an additional year of software support has already appeared.

The South Korean smartphone manufacturer will undoubtedly continue to release flagship models of the Galaxy S line in 2015. The Galaxy S6 has been featured in various rumors for months now, and we already know something about its hardware specifications and the timing of its announcement. In any case, the S6 model is already in the works and in the coming months there will be a lot of information from various sources.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has been on the market for about six months now, so the media, analysts and fans are already turning their attention towards the Galaxy S6. Based on previous presentations and leaks that have surfaced online in various articles, we hope to get an idea of what we can expect from the unannounced flagship.

Over the course of a couple of years, we have already gotten used to the fact that Samsung introduces its Galaxy S smartphones in February or March. We also expect the Galaxy S6 to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2015 - probably either in February at MWC 2015, or maybe at CES 2015 in January (but there's very little chance of that). In any case, sales could begin in March next year.

In recent news, we said that Samsung is working on Galaxy flagship S6 literally from scratch. The smartphone is being developed as part of Project Zero, which is not surprising, since sales of smartphones have dropped significantly compared to its predecessors, and the company clearly does not intend to lose fans.

At the beginning of this year, there were already rumors that the Galaxy S5 will receive a display with Quad HD resolution. Samsung considered that a Full HD screen would be sufficient for a flagship, and therefore in 2015 we should definitely expect an increase in the screen resolution of the S6 to QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels). This is because already in the second half of this year an unspoken standard for flagship smartphones. Again we will see a Super AMOLED screen, but its diagonal should grow to at least 5.2 inches, but no more, so as not to threaten sales of the Galaxy Note 4. By the way, Samsung is quite capable of fitting a slightly larger display into the dimensions of the Galaxy S5 due to narrower frames .

We all know that Google recently introduced new version its operating system is Android 5.0 Lollipop with built-in support for 64-bit processors. There are already rumors that the Galaxy S6 will run on a processor of its own production - Exynos 7420, and the second flagship model will already have Qualcomm processors Snapdragon 810 (depending on sales market). Yes, let's clarify about the processors - the Exynos 7420 will have LTE support thanks to the built-in Exynos Modem 333 modem, but the Snapdragon 810 will already be eight-core with four Cortex-A57 and four Cortex-A53 cores, with an Adreno 430 graphics accelerator and support for 64-bit calculations.

As for the design, this should be the first flagship of the Galaxy S line with a metal body. Enough steps have already been taken to produce affordable premium smartphones. Firstly, this is the Galaxy Alpha with its metal frame, which we also saw on the Galaxy Note 4 phablet. Secondly, a separate line of premium Galaxy A smartphones with metal cases has appeared. It's a pity, but this means one thing - we lose access to a replaceable battery.

The Galaxy S6 will “get fatter” due to an increase in memory - the RAM will already be 3GB, and the built-in volume will increase to 128GB. The initial model will have 16GB internal memory, but is only available in the Asian market, and 3 options will appear on the international market: 32, 64 and 128GB. But what about MicroSD card support? I hope Samsung doesn't give up on this.

Samsung is also already setting a new standard for front-facing cameras - it makes sense to expect a 5-megapixel selfie camera, given that this is already a popular trend. As for the main camera, Samsung may limit itself to a 16-megapixel camera, as in the Galaxy Note 4, with optical image stabilization, smart autofocus, support for Ultra HD video recording, as well as the possibility of accelerated recording (slow motion). It looks like low-light shooting will also be improved.

Apple set a new rule in the smartphone market by introducing its iPhone with a fingerprint scanner. Samsung supported the initiative, so the S6 will also have this sensor, and there will also be a heart rate monitor and an ultraviolet sensor, which gives a significant advantage. Perhaps a retinal scanner will also appear, but the chances are slim.

Release expensive smartphones that look and feel cheap? Even the market leader cannot afford this in 2015 - the top devices of competitors have become too good, too many excellent devices offer good characteristics and stylish appearance for half or even a third of the price of flagships. Probably, the Galaxy S smartphone made of glass and metal should have appeared a year earlier - then Samsung might not have had it in 2014. But still, better late than never.

Appearance

The Galaxy S6 is the most beautiful smartphone Samsung has ever released. Previous S-line flagships have always caused discomfort due to the combination of high prices and plastic housings. In the case of the Galaxy S6, this dissonance is absent. An aluminum frame, front and rear glass with elegantly rounded edges, record thinness and convincing weight - all this is designed to convince that the price tag of 47,000 rubles is justified. We are talking here about a simple version of the Galaxy S6, not an Edge with a curved screen (there will be a separate article about it).

Some sources of inspiration for Samsung designers are still easy to guess, but this time the rounded frame with a perforated speaker grille, already seen in more than one or two smartphones, does not hurt the eyes.

The Galaxy S6 may not speak a new word in design, but it organically combines current trends with the body contours that are classic for the company’s flagships.

This is not to say that the device makes passers-by turn around on the street (this only happens today with), but looking at it and turning it in your hands is much more pleasant than the Galaxy S5 or Note 4. The only thing that hurts the eye is the protrusion under which the camera is hidden. However, given the quality of the images, which is discussed below, this sacrifice is more than justified.

Convenience

For better or worse, the smartphone is becoming one of the main items in their lives for more and more people, competing with their work PC and car. Comfortable shoes and clothes, a comfortable bed are important to us, and a smartphone should also be convenient - after all, we often devote several hours a day to it. How good is the Galaxy S6 in this regard? Based on the rather modest dimensions for a device with a 5.1-inch display (143.4 by 70.5 by 6.8 mm), as well as the frame without sharp edges, one would assume that the device is very convenient.

In fact, believe me, everything is not so simple. Yes, when you take the Galaxy S6 in your hand, the smartphone fits perfectly in it. You don’t experience any problems during a conversation either, but then nuances begin. The fact is that “premium” aluminum and glass are very “slippery” materials. In addition, the shape of the case makes the grip area between the smartphone and the palm minimal.

Bottom line: The Samsung Galaxy S6 is one of the most easily dropped phones I've ever handled. That is, the user either constantly risks dropping the device when manipulating with one hand, or is forced to work with a fairly compact device like a phablet with both hands. To be fair, it is worth noting that the iPhone 6 and especially the 6 Plus have the same problems - they slip out of your hand very easily. One solution is to buy a bumper case. But then it’s unclear why spend money on a beautiful new smartphone, because in a case you can’t tell the Galaxy S6 from the Galaxy S4 from the year before from half a meter away.

The location of the power/lock button on the right edge of the smartphone is very good, but changing the volume with the keys on the left edge is not so convenient; they are placed too high for pressing with the index finger. The home button with a fingerprint scanner that finally works quickly and without problems is quite convenient, although I personally prefer devices with on-screen keys. In the case of off-screen touch buttons, it’s very common to accidentally press them while playing a game or watching a movie, which can be annoying. On the Nexus 5, for example, the virtual buttons are hidden in full screen mode, until you specifically call them by swiping from the edge of the screen.

Screen

Samsung couldn't help but install it in newest flagship ultra-high resolution Quad HD screen (2560 by 1440 pixels, 5.1-inch diagonal, pixel density 557 ppi, Super AMOLED). On the one hand, it’s nice, high-tech, and the picture is great. On the other hand, Full HD with such a screen diagonal is more than sufficient; the vast majority of users in life will not distinguish a clearer display from a less clear one with a pixel density above 300-350 per inch. And rendering a super-clear image requires additional processor resources and uses up the battery faster. In general, I still don't see the point (except for marketing, of course) in smartphone displays with a pixel density higher than 400 per inch.

In terms of brightness and color reproduction, the display is excellent, and you can choose the color profile (more saturated or more natural colors) to suit your taste. In bright sunlight, the mode of increased brightness and contrast is automatically turned on, color rendition suffers from it, but the picture becomes visible almost as if in the shadow.

Gorilla Glass 4 promises to protect the screen glass from cracking and scratches. However, reality can be cruel even with the most high-tech materials. Our test unit showed one greasy scratch and a couple of smaller scratches after a few days of use. Before this, the smartphone fell with its screen on the floor a couple of times (linoleum in the office, parquet at home), perhaps it encountered a couple of especially durable grains of sand there. Frankly speaking, the appearance of scratches, despite the fact that the device has not been through any serious alterations such as falling on asphalt or tiles, was upsetting. So you shouldn’t expect sapphire invulnerability from Gorilla Glass 4. If you want a smartphone without scratches, buy it protective films or book covers.

Cameras, sound

Do you know what's the best thing about the Samsung Galaxy S6 as a pocket camera? It's not even the quality of the pictures, but how quickly you can launch the camera by double pressing the home button. Firstly, this function works equally well both on a “sleeping” smartphone and when you are in some application. Secondly, it seems to me that finding and pressing the large enough “Home” button is easier than feeling for the dedicated camera button that some smartphones from other manufacturers are equipped with. But the main thing is speed; a picture can be taken literally in one and a half to two seconds after the thought came to you: “Stop, just a moment, you are beautiful!” and you reached into your pocket for your smartphone. The camera's stated startup time (whether via double-tapping Home or via the home screen icon) is 0.7 seconds.

The main camera of the Galaxy S6 uses a fast lens (minimum aperture f 1.9), optical stabilization and a 16-megapixel Sony IMX240 sensor with back-illumination. There is an LED flash, Live HDR, 8x digital zoom, ISO up to 3200, 4K or Full HD video recording at 60 frames per second, slow motion and time lapse shooting. The sound is recorded in stereo mode from two microphones. The front camera is 5 megapixel, uses a matrix manufactured by Samsung.

Samsung programmers have continued to improve image processing algorithms for years, as a result, the company’s smartphones have become the best photo solutions among Android devices. And due to the higher sensor resolution, the presence of optical stabilization and the superbly implemented “night” mode, the device manages in many situations to outperform even Apple devices that are traditionally considered the photo standard among smartphones. Here are some photos (click to view full size image in new tab):

All pictures taken during the test on the Samsung Galaxy S6 can be viewed (Dropbox).

The only complaint regarding the camera is that if you want to immediately view the photo you just took, you will have to wait an agonizing couple of seconds; the delay is noticeably longer than on most smartphones released last year and this year. It is hoped that this is a software bug that will be fixed in future software updates. After all, the Galaxy S6 has the most advanced flash memory in terms of speed, so in theory there should be no delays in writing and reading images into it.

The built-in music speaker of the Galaxy S6 sounds loud, but for my taste the sound is too “metallic”, the same iPhone 6 Plus plays music more pleasantly, more details are heard. Through the audio output, the playback quality is simply excellent, including with expensive headphones, there are no complaints.

Performance, software features

In short, the Galaxy S6 is the fastest Android smartphone today. At least this is what the results of popular benchmarks indicate.

The device runs on a proprietary system-on-chip Samsung Exynos 7420 (64-bit processor, 4x 2.1GHz Cortex-A57 and 4x 1.5GHz Cortex-A53). This is the world's first mobile chip produced using the 14nm process; Qualcomm will use this technology only in the upcoming Snapdragon 820 (which, according to rumors, will again be produced by Samsung, and not TSMC, like previous models of chips in this line). 3 GB of RAM is so far more than enough for any scenario, although the 64-bit SoC can work with a large amount of memory.

Built-in memory is 32, 64 or 128 GB, but there is no support for microSD cards. This is disappointing - after all, 32 GB, and this is the version that will most likely be the best-selling, is not enough in these times. If you take full-resolution photos and 4K videos, save TV series from Amediateka for offline viewing (all smartphone buyers receive a free trial monthly subscription to the service), install modern games with advanced graphics, then the free space will run out very quickly.

By the way, about games - the ultra-high screen resolution makes itself felt, and the result in the Epic Citadel test at maximum graphics settings is not exactly record-breaking. The treasured 60 fps is achieved only with simply “high” graphics quality:

At the same time, in practice, no slowdowns were noticed in modern games like Real Racing 3, Dungeon Keeper 5, NOVA 3. By the way, the device heats up quite a lot during the game, but, fortunately, the temperature does not reach an uncomfortable level.

However, it is not only the performance of the SoC and memory that determines whether the device will seem fast to the user or not. Samsung's flagships have never had any problems with the number of points in benchmarks and frames per second in games, but quite often with the speed of the interface. It’s gratifying that the branded Touch Wiz in the version for the Galaxy S6 differs much less from stock Android than before and is not overloaded with unnecessary bells and whistles. Even the Briefing panel with news and other content based on Flipboard recommendations is now disabled.

I have only one major complaint left with TouchWiz, and it is purely subjective - the blue color of the notification “curtain” is disgusting to me personally. You can change it only by installing another theme from the theme store, where, unfortunately, nothing decent could be found. Samsung clearly needs to add at least one professionally made theme in the style and colors of stock Android, since a Google Play version of the flagship is no longer planned.

The updated Touch Wiz still lacks the reasonable and neat organization of the system “curtain”, like in stock Android 5.0 - notifications are displayed on the first swipe, and a panel with settings shortcuts and switches on the second. A more traditional all-in-one scheme for Samsung interfaces is used here.

Battery

The Galaxy S6 does not set autonomy records - Samsung engineers clearly prioritized minimizing the thickness of the case; they had to sacrifice the battery capacity, it is 2550 mAh. At the same time, an energy-efficient AMOLED screen and a “smart” battery-consuming processor help the device with standard use(without games and videos) stretch from morning until late evening. Streaming the House of Cards series from Amediateka in HD 720p resolution over Wi-Fi at maximum brightness takes up about 22% of the battery (that is, in this mode the smartphone will last a little over 4.5 hours on a full charge). The same indicator when watching an hour of video from the smartphone’s built-in memory was 12% in our testing - that is, a 100% charge will last for about 8 hours 20 minutes. Half an hour of playing the slasher game with poor graphics Dungeon Hunter 5 “cost” me 14% of the charge (3.5 hours on 100% battery). The indicators are weaker than those of such “hardy” devices as the iPhone 6 Plus, Xperia Z3, or especially the Huawei Mate 7, but slightly better than the Nexus 5.

In practice, it looks like this: when I use an iPhone 6 Plus, I don’t have the thought of connecting it to a charger in the car on the way home from work (I usually arrive at the editorial office around 7:30, leave around 3-4 p.m.), there’s usually more 60-70% charge. The Galaxy S6 remains at 40%, and “automatic recharge” occurs almost always. Nexus 5 usually receives an additional dose of electricity even earlier, around 2 o'clock in the afternoon - because you never know. Fortunately, the Galaxy S6 has fast charging technology; from zero to 70-80% the device is charged from the included adapter in about an hour, a full charge takes another 30 minutes. The weaker charger from the Nexus 5 fills Galaxy battery S6 up to 100% in two and a half hours.

Purchase, conclusions

The Galaxy S6 is an ideologically different smartphone than all previous devices in the Galaxy S line. The previous Korean flagships were a geek's dream - top-end specifications, support for memory cards, a replaceable battery, water protection (in the Galaxy S5). In the new product, flexibility and security were sacrificed for the sake of style, and the result was not only powerful, but also really very beautiful phone, which for the first time does not lose outwardly to its main competitors, including Apple devices.

The Galaxy S6 is also, perhaps, the best mobile camera today, in many situations it takes nicer (clearer and brighter) photos and videos than the iPhone 6. At the same time, the ergonomics of the smartphone are not “slippery” due to the selected materials. ideal, typing text with one hand or operating applications is uncomfortable - you are afraid of dropping the device. It's probably just a matter of habit, but it was a relief to switch back from the Galaxy S6 to my good old plastic Nexus 5. Firstly, a device with a cover made of soft-touch plastic simply cannot slip out of your hand. Secondly, dropping 20 thousand on the asphalt is still not as unpleasant as almost 50.

In large retail chains and mobile operators, the Galaxy S6 is sold at 46,990 rubles for the 32 GB version. “Gray” phones without an official warranty can be found somewhat cheaper - from 41,000 rubles. The price does not depend on the color - white, gold, blue-black. The version with two SIM cards in official retail is equipped with 64 GB of internal memory and costs more - from 49,990 rubles.

Let's summarize the Samsung Galaxy S6 review.

Samsung Galaxy S6 was a real discovery of 2015, it received a metal body, powerful processor, high-quality screen and was even able to compete iPhone6 by the number of sales in the first weeks after release. Samsung Galaxy S6 is a more “mass” model than devices from Note line– it has an affordable price, based on its characteristics, a stylish universal design, it is suitable for young people, businessmen, women and men.

Design and ergonomics

Samsung has recently begun to deviate from its canons and make models not entirely made of plastic, but with metal inserts. Samsung Galaxy S6 became the pinnacle of these developments; it is made of high-quality materials - aluminum frame, CorningGornillaGlass4 glass on both the front and back sides. The metal base, according to the manufacturer, is made of very durable aluminum, which is 50% stronger than the metal of similar smartphones. After its release, there were even rumors that the strength of the Samsung Galaxy S6 was tested using walnuts. This move allows you to protect both the front and back of the case from falls and dirt. The back side is still quite dirty, but prints can be easily removed.

Overall, the smartphone makes a pleasant impression; Samsung developers got rid of all unnecessary decorative elements, leaving only style and quality. The Samsung Galaxy S6 fits very comfortably in your hand, even despite the large and high-quality screen, it’s easy to control the smartphone. The model is made in 4 color options - Black Sapphire (black), White Pearl (white) and Gold Platinum (gold), Blue Topaz (blue). Despite the class of the smartphone, the screen diagonal and powerful technical components, the Samsung Galaxy S6 turned out to be quite compact and not very heavy - its dimensions are 143.4 × 70.5 × 6.8 mm, and its weight is 138 grams.

See the more compact Samsung Galaxy Alpha smartphone.

The edge of the case is slightly rounded, and the Home button has a new pill-shaped design. The build quality was greatly influenced by the non-separable body of the Samsung Galaxy S6. There can't be any creaks or backlashes here. The power button and SIM card slot are located on the right side (just above the middle). And at the bottom there is a headphone jack and universal USB2.0 - it has finally replaced the inconvenient USB 3.0.

Display

The quality of the screen did not disappoint the expectations of fans of the Galaxy line; Samsung, perhaps, made the best screen that it ever made. The screen is made using Super AMOLED technology, its diagonal is 5.1 inches, and the resolution is 2560x1440 pixels. The pixel density per inch is also one of the highest available in a modern smartphone today, at 577 ppi.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S6 has wireless charging at its disposal, which allows you to charge your smartphone by 20-30 percent in just 30 minutes.

If you use a regular cable, then in the same time the battery can be charged halfway. The battery capacity is 2550 mAh. Seeing such capacity indicators and realizing that a powerful processor, high-quality screen and other parameters of the Galaxy S6 will most likely reduce the time battery life, it seems that the smartphone will not be able to work for a day without recharging. But that's not true. Under normal loads (1-1.5 hours of browsing the Internet, a couple of hours of calls and about an hour of watching videos every day), the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be able to work for 2.5 days without the need to recharge. When browsing the Internet, the smartphone shows 8-9 hours of battery life, when watching videos – 10-11 hours, and in talk mode – about 17. Samsung performance The Galaxy S6 is lower compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S5, but nevertheless, the new model also shows decent results.

Processor, hardware and performance

Samsung decided to abandon such popular chipsets as the Snapdragon 810. The developers had many reasons for this, for example, overheating of processors based on this chipset, as well as the consumption of a large amount of energy. On latest models Samsung used its own Exynos processors, and the Samsung Galaxy S6 was no exception, because it was the first time that the manufacturer switched entirely to its own chipset. The smartphone received an eight-core Exynos 7420 (7 Octa) with 4 Cortex-A57 (2.1 GHz) and 4 Cortex-A53 (1.5 GHz) cores. He shows excellent results performance, consumes less energy and does not heat up much.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is also equipped with a Mali-T760 graphics accelerator and has an impressive 3GB of RAM. DDR4 In AnTuTu, no one was able to beat the Samsung Galaxy S6 in terms of performance.

There are 3 types of Samsung Galaxy S6 in terms of internal memory capacity – 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. The developers included such a large volume in order to compensate for the lack of a microSD card. Also, the user will have access to 115 GB in the cloud for the first two years after purchase. Microsoft storage OneDrive. The abandonment of the microSD slot is motivated by the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S6 has Universal Flash Storage 2.0 technology, which combines the advantages of SSD and eMMC and speeds up the process of reading and writing data. UFS 2.0 NAND memory allows you to increase the speed of sequential and random data reading and writing.

Communications

There are a lot of communication opportunities in the Samsung Galaxy S6. 2G/3G/4G LTE standards are supported. The device also has Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, and supports ANT+, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC. The developers took care of the needs of the masses by providing the Samsung Galaxy S6 with an infrared port, with which you can control household appliances. There is no smartphone left without GPS/GLONASS.

It is impossible not to note the highlight from the manufacturer - Samsung Pay, this service allows the smartphone to interact with terminals. Samsung Galaxy S6 already cooperates with Visa and MasterCard, and the developers plan to expand this list. There is no need to worry about security, KNOX will take care of it.

Interface

The Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with the new Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS. User interface TouchWiz has become easier to use, but at the same time has received many useful features. It even makes good use of the lock screen, which displays the weather, pedometer information, and a few recent notifications that can be turned off.

You can now turn on the camera by double-clicking the “Back” button; this is very convenient, given the fact that it starts up in less than a second.

The Galaxy S6 interface is very minimalist and simple; they tried to avoid icons as much as possible, which often replace text names of applications. But users have access to themes; only 3 are preinstalled on the smartphone, but many others can be downloaded from Galaxy Apps. New themes not only change the appearance of icons, fonts, dialing menus, but even allow you to use new ringtones for alarms, SMS, etc.

Samsung in the Galaxy S6 refused to fill the smartphone with many applications that users mostly do not use. Instead, pre-installed OneNote, Skype, cloud storage OneDrive, all thanks to Samsung's collaboration with Microsoft.

Camera

Galaxy S6 has 2 cameras. The main camera is equipped with a 16-megapixel module, and the front camera is equipped with a 5-megapixel module. The aperture of both cameras is quite large - F1.9, which allows the sensor to receive more light during shooting. There is also image optimization and autofocus, which is capable of tracking even moving objects.

The camera has many interesting modes, including Pro - it allows you to manually set ISO, exposure, white balance, which allows you to use your smartphone as a professional camera. Manufacturers claim that the camera starts up faster than in a second, which will greatly please those users who like to “catch” the most interesting moments.

An interesting feature of the Galaxy S6 is the ability to take 3D pictures; for this you just need to rotate the smartphone around the object. Also present HDR mode, it is available for both the rear and front cameras.

Other features of Samsung Galaxy S6

Unlike the Galaxy S5, the new model does not have protection against dust and moisture. Possibly due to competition with the line Sony Xperia, which have IP67 dust and moisture protection, Samsung will soon release another model of the Galaxy S6 series, where this technology will be implemented. Moreover, the Galaxy S6 has a design similar to the Xperia, combining glass and a metal frame.

It is worth noting that the speakers have also been moved from the back of the smartphone to the lower front, so covering them with your hand while listening is not possible. Thanks to this, according to the developers, the Samsung Galaxy S6 has 1.5 times better and louder sound than its predecessor S5.

The developers have also significantly improved the biometric authentication scanner, replacing the capacitive sensor that was in the S5 with a touch one. Now, placing your finger on Home button, you get authenticated quickly and smoothly.

Samsung Galaxy S6 can shoot videos in 2160p, 1080p and 720p quality. In all modes except 2160p, you can enable additional color effects and even HDR. The smartphone shoots video at the highest level, the clips are clear, the colors are rendered as realistic as possible. You can even shoot video with the front camera.

conclusions

Samsung Galaxy S6 even exceeded the expectations that fans had for it. Manufacturers have corrected almost all the shortcomings of the Galaxy S5, which did not impress fans, they also moved away from their design standards and created a new smartphone that is truly worth the money, which opens up wide possibilities for the owner. This is no longer just a smartphone, it is a pocket computer, a player, a camera, a video player, and a shopping assistant. Samsung Galaxy S6 is good in everything; due attention was paid to the processor, the camera, the design, and the interface. The latest OS, 3 GB of RAM and an excellent screen only complete the picture. Definitely, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be worthy of competitors in the flagship market and will find many fans.

REVIEW RESULT

Finally, Samsung moved away from the usual image of a smartphone and created something truly unusual.

The first thing your eye falls on is the metal body framing the front and back panel, which are covered with protective glass from Gorilla Glass. It is precisely the thickness of 6.8 mm that distinguishes the phone from its predecessor S 5, which was accused of being absolutely similar to the Apple gadget.

Unfortunately, this design option has several disadvantages. To implement the intended design, Samsung decided to remove the MicroSD slot and equip the device with a non-removable battery. To compensate for memory problems, the model was released in several versions: 32/64/128 GB. The phone supports Qi and PWM wireless chargers. Samsung claims that a 10-minute charge will give you 4 hours of battery life.

In general, I have a pleasant impression of this model. The S6 features a 5.1-inch HD Quad Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.

Besides good screen, the model is equipped with an exclusive octa-core Exynos processor with clock frequency 2.1 GHz and 3 GB of RAM.

S6 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and latest version Samsung TouchWiz UI shell

If you are a fan of photos and selfies, then the S 6 will clearly delight you with its capabilities. The 16-megapixel main camera has optical image stabilization and a large-capture module.

Overall, customer and expert reviews indicate that the S6 is one of the most sophisticated Android devices available today. Fans of removable batteries and large storage capacity may be disappointed. But there are many other reasons to love the phone.
