International shipments in the form of parcels can be accepted for shipment from the Russian Federation to foreign countries or from foreign countries to the Russian Federation. International shipments transiting through Russian territory are also sent.

A parcel sent to the territory of a foreign state must meet several criteria provided for by Russian legislation for shipments of this type.

Requirements for international parcels

The regulations governing the provision of postal services regulate a number of requirements that international class items must meet.

A simple or valuable international parcel can weigh up to 20 kg.

The minimum size of an ordinary parcel can reach:

Don't know your rights?

  1. 110 x 220 mm;
  2. 114 x 162 mm.

As for the maximum permissible dimensions of the parcel, it is allowed that any measurement be no more than 1.05 m. In this case, it is also necessary to ensure that the sum of the perimeter of the largest cross-section and length does not exceed 2 m.

Shipping Features

International shipments are sent together with attachments that are not prohibited:

The citizen records on the postal item the recipient's address (in the lower right area of the parcel) and the sender's address (in the upper left area).

Inscriptions must be made with Latin letters and Arabic numerals. The sender has the right to write address data in the language of the destination country if he additionally indicates its name in Russian.

Shipping is carried out either by land or by air - at the sender's choice, and is paid according to established tariffs depending on the method of shipment, the weight and dimensions of the parcel, and its destination.

Transporting a package by air takes less time than ground transportation, but its cost is higher.

Payment for services for sending international correspondence is accepted in the form of reply coupons. Such coupons are issued by the international bureau of the Universal Postal Union. At post offices, coupons are exchanged for stamps at the current rate.

The postal service operator charges a fee of 0.04 rubles including VAT for each ruble of estimated value. Additional payments to repay the fee for air shipment are established within the framework of the internal tariffs of air carriers.

What is an international shipment?

The concept of international postal clearance includes parcels and letters subject to postal delivery within the framework of the legislation of the Universal Postal Union. There are the following types of international parcels to be sent by post:

  • Parcels (for sending items from 2 to 20 kilograms).
  • Letters (personal or documentary correspondence).
  • Small bags (for light contents up to 2 kilograms).
  • Special bags marked “M” (for sending a written item of large weight up to 14,500 grams from one sender to a permanent recipient).
  • Postcards (for congratulations, there are simple and customized).
  • Secograms – written correspondence in open form with raised text for visually impaired people.
  • Express shipments – fast delivery of sent items.

This way you can send an international parcel different types, weight and content.

Sending parcels abroad

The basic requirements that must be met when sending international items include:

  • You cannot send items prohibited by customs and other legislation of Russia and the recipient country.
  • The maximum parcel weight is twenty kilograms.
  • Minimum size 10 cm by 22 cm.

First, you need to decide what type of shipment the item being sent belongs to and contact the Russian Post office. To send a parcel, you need to fill out a label form, a customs declaration and an accompanying inventory. Next, the object must be transmitted in clear text to the operator. He inspects, packs and processes international shipments.

It is worth taking care in advance about packing particularly fragile or breakable items. It would be a good idea to wrap them in polyethylene or cellophane. The delivery process of the item can be tracked using the track number, which will be provided by the postal employee after completion of the registration process.

Methods for sending international items:

  • By land transport (if the country of receipt is the Republic of Belarus and Kazakhstan).
  • Air.
  • EMS express delivery.

It is important to prepare for sending in advance so as not to extend the delivery time of the parcel by additional actions of Postal employees.

How to calculate the cost

If there is a need for international departure, the logical question is: what is the cheapest way to send a parcel for?
The price of postal delivery is influenced by factors such as weight, dimensions, method and country of receipt. You can calculate the cost of an international parcel at the time of registration at the post office or on the Russian Post website using an auto-tariff.

To calculate the price using the second method, you need to fill in the following information:

  • Sender and recipient countries.
  • Weight of the item being sent.
  • Select a delivery method.
  • Note the need to provide additional services, such as insurance, cash on delivery, delivery with special care, description of investments.

To make the shipment as profitable and cheap as possible, you should choose an economical delivery option and not use auxiliary services unless absolutely necessary.

Items prohibited for international shipment

Such items include:

  • Russian Federation cash and foreign currency.
  • All types of weapons.
  • Counterfeit.
  • Pirate goods.
  • Dirty goods.
  • Alcohol.

For fast and high-quality delivery, you need to think through and take into account many nuances in advance. The item being sent must not be classified as prohibited and must comply with the weight and size parameters. When choosing a delivery method, you need to evaluate what is more important, its speed or cost.
