I didn't even think about switching to a new model. The 6S was not that different from the 6. In 7-ke removed the connector for standard headphones and it maddened me wildly. The release of the 8 didn't make much of an impression on me either, let alone 10 all the more: I want physical buttons, I don't want incomprehensible "islands" that cut out a part of the image.
But what happened ... as usual, I upgraded the firmware from iOS 10 to iOS 11 and .... Got a TURTLE!
Owners 6-k, if you haven't updated yet - think 10 times if you need it !!! There are not so many new features, but the loss of response speed is significant.

The design of the eights does not differ much from the sevens, but the aluminum case has become glass again.
According to the Cupertinians, the glass is insanely durable ... Well, yes, well, yes ... A week of careful use of the phone without a cover and a very noticeable scratch has already appeared on the back panel. At the same time, I did not drop the phone, I did not carry it in my pocket with keys and change ...
It seems to me that the old 4S is even more resistant to scratches. (there is a protective glass on the 4-ke front, but the back panel is without protection for life ...)
Conclusion - despite the loud statements of the manufacturer, I strongly recommend a case and a protective glass for purchase. The phone is big and easy to drop.

And replacing the screen and back panel will not come cheap.

My eyes like the innovation. But, this is not such a critical difference to change a 7-ku to an 8-ku.
The brightness is enough to comfortably see what is happening on the screen even in the brightest sun outside.
I have had no complaints about viewing angles since the 6th era: the image is juicy, does not lose its brightness at any viewing angles.
4. Sound.
Rejoice, music lovers. The sound in the new iPhones is even louder, even cleaner, the bass is even deeper.
The external speaker is now stereo (there was one external speaker in the 6th). I can safely enjoy the music in the shower, the sound level is enough to "shout out" the noise of the water.

But, if my memory serves me, it was still in the sevens.

The main attraction for me when choosing between the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus was the camera.
I love taking pictures, but it is not always convenient to carry a DSLR with me, which weighs several kilograms. Therefore, I wanted to have a high-quality camera at hand "just in case".
Starting from sevens, iPhones have a main 12 megapixel camera. But in the Plus models it is a dual camera that allows you to take photographs close to the "mirror" and blur the background, highlighting the main subject.
When I read the reviews of 7 Plus owners, they almost unanimously praised the quality of the photos and sent SLR cameras to gather dust in the far corner as unnecessary.
What can I say about this. I have no complaints about ordinary pictures. Naturally, you won't be able to do commercial filming on an iPhone, but for a quick "everyday" - why not? The images are bright, juicy and clear.
There is even a pretty bokeh in some places with beautiful rounds in the background.
But the portrait mode ... The unpretentious user will shoot and enjoy the quality of the pictures. But I ask you, do not compare this wretched software bokeh with bokeh from quality optics!
The photographs show how the processor is trying to determine the edges of the main subject in order to separate it from the background and blur the background. But, the contour is not always defined correctly. Somewhere gaps are visible, and somewhere the contour of the image is blurred with spots.

Anyone who, as they say, has not tasted radish sweeter than horseradish, will be satisfied with this quality. My eyes want to cry bloody tears from this. Therefore, portrait mode is a useless feature for me, which I personally use practically or not at all. Mirror foreva)))

By the way, in iOS 11, the iPhone saves photos in the new HEIC format, which takes up less space than a standard JPG with the same image quality, and if you simply copy them to your computer through the explorer, the photo viewer will refuse to open them.

2. In the phone settings, change the photo quality to standard JPG

A sad story about how I almost lost all the information from the old phone when switching to a new one.

For owners of 6 and older models, it makes sense to think about the transition. Especially if you want to use the fresh iOS11.
Owners of 6S are in doubt. Still, esoks have faster hardware, they already have live photos and the screen recognizes the pressure, and the camera is 12/7 megapixels. It is rather a question of desire and availability of free funds to buy new items.
I do not recommend the owners of 7 to switch to 8. You will not find anything particularly new for yourself. You should wait for the next model, or pay attention to the 10-ku coming out in a month, if you don't mind the size of the screen and the lack of physical buttons.
What can I say at the end of my essay?
I do not regret switching to a new model. And even got used to the size. Now my husband's 7 seems tiny, but look at the old 4S even under a microscope.
But somehow earlier apple products brought me more pleasure.
I do not like the fact that to use the same high-speed charging I have to buy another charger (I am already silent about the wireless mat), I do not like the lack of an input for ordinary headphones. If Apple wants to provoke me in this way to buy wireless AirPods for $ 150 (11,990 rubles in Russia) - they won't wait!
The promised "armor-piercing" glass of the hull turned out to be not so armor-piercing ...
Well, the camera in portrait mode was the main disappointment for me.
