Appearance and design

The design of the smartphone has been changed compared to other models in this line, but the affiliation and recognition of the manufacturer’s company remains. The updated design adds elegance and simplicity. It is worth noting the reduced case size (128x67x9 mm) and weight less than 150 grams.

The body is made of high quality plastic. The back wall is matte, fingerprints are invisible on it and it is less easily soiled. The build quality is excellent, nothing creaks. The edges of the case are beveled, making it feel thinner. All keys have good sensitivity and are pressed softly.

HTC One SV looks great, it retains the recognition of the Taiwanese company and belongs to the One line

On the back panel there is a camera that almost does not protrude from the body, a flash and a speaker. Under the cover there are NFS antennas, slots for a memory card and a SIM card. At the top end there is an audio jack, microphone and power button. The left side is empty, the right side houses the main microphone and a slot for microUSB. The front part consists of a display, above which there are light sensors, proximity sensors, a camera, and a notification indicator. At the bottom of the screen there is a speaker and control keys.

Display

The smartphone has a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 screen with a display resolution of 480×800 pixels (pixel density 217 ppi). The screen is covered with a special protective layer of Gorilla Glass 2 against scratches.

The brightness is high, the viewing angles are decent, you can tilt the phone and the picture will remain without any changes. The minimum brightness level is 13 cd/m2, the maximum is 360 cd/m2. Such indicators are quite convenient for reading outdoors in sunny weather and in a dark room.

The color rendition of the display is excellent, viewing angles are decent

The air gap is minimal, this creates the impression that the finger is moving across the picture itself. Color reproduction and screen saturation are good, blacks look natural.

Software

The operating system of the HTC One SV smartphone is Android 4.0.4, Sense 4.1 interface. There is an update (to 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 4+ interface). The system works quickly, switching from one screen to another and scrolling through the list of applications is smooth, applications are launched at high speed.

The smartphone's own memory is 8 GB, which is quite enough to run standard applications, but if you install additional applications, you must increase this volume using a microSD memory card.

When setting up the interface, the screen displays the signal reception level, indicators and wireless connections. There are pre-installed applications such as HTC Rescue, Evernote and Polaris Office,
Among the large number of functions and capabilities, the personalization of the keyboard seems interesting, which allows you to increase and decrease the font, provides the function of typing without lifting your finger from the display or using voice typing.

The smartphone runs on Android 4.0.4 OS with the proprietary Sense 4.1 shell

The number of desktops can be 7; folders, icons and widgets are placed on them. Personalization has great capabilities, you can change wallpapers, themes, change styles and even decorate the lock screen.

The smartphone has pre-installed applications, including a store for Android system applications, a program for documents, notes, watching videos from the YouTube portal, and a voice recorder. Among the pre-installed applications, Dropbox can be noted. When using it, the smartphone owner receives virtual cloud storage with 25 GB of memory for 2 years.

Sound

The speaker volume is high, its reserve is enough for a variety of situations. The same is true for headphones. The sound is excellent and deep, all frequencies are audible, there is no distortion or unnecessary noise. This high level is provided by Beatsaudio, which serves to improve the sound.

Music is played through a pre-installed audio player that has all the necessary functions. So, you can sort audio files.

You can listen to FM radio. Moreover, the radio receiver searches for radio stations automatically and saves them. You can create a list of priority stations. The radio is played not only through the headphones, but also through the main speaker.

The music capabilities of the smartphone are excellent

The speech speaker is at a high level. The interlocutor’s speech is heard clearly, intonation and voice are recognizable.

Performance

Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8230 smartphone processor with 2 cores. Its feature is a reduction in energy consumption. Andreno 305 is responsible for the graphics. The RAM is small (1 GB), the internal memory is 8 GB, but 5.3 GB is available to the user. Such characteristics mean excellent performance under high load, as well as support for demanding games and applications. The game Real Racing 3 launched perfectly.

Video viewing is carried out using a special application, which not only plays, but also makes it possible to change the screen brightness, turn subtitles on and off, and also take screenshots.

Advantages of the phone:

1 - screen - despite the relatively low resolution, the picture looks great, watching movies is a pleasure, I don’t understand why you need to install an HD matrix in a 4.3 screen, the battery will only run out faster.
2 - speed of operation - no lags were noticed in games and applications, everything is fast and smooth, 1 GB of RAM is enough, just like 8 GB for programs, for the rest there is a card.
3 - quality of materials - the matte polycarbonate of the back cover is slightly soft to the touch, it does not collect fingerprints, is not susceptible to scratches, is easy to clean, not thin, the edging of the smartphone is made of anodized aluminum - does not scratch. The device is well assembled, as if it were completely monolithic, HTC always did a great job with this, it feels like you are holding a worthwhile thing, and not a glossy, creaky, I don’t understand what it is.
4 - HTC sense shell - colorful and simple, nothing slows down, a complete set of all necessary widgets for wi-fi, synchronization, mobile Internet, screen brightness, GPS, there are applications for viewing PDF, word, presentations, a beautiful clock on your desktop, Great weather animation, you can customize 16 favorite cities to track the weather.
5 - beats audio - you need to know how to use it. I installed the PlayerPro player, configured the equalizer there, then installed a separate program for volume and sound settings, Music Volume EQ, and made settings in it too. So - turn on the player, run Volume EQ with the saved setting and then turn on beats audio, the sound is simply amazing (320kb quality is exceptional), the headphones are not stock. If you want to listen to sound without headphones in nature, then turn on the stock player, it is louder.
6 - front camera - 1.6 MP, takes excellent pictures, if you don’t have a separate webcam at home, then you don’t have to buy it.
7 - volume during a conversation - enough with a reserve, sometimes you even have to turn it down.
8 - HTC gestures are a great thing, I turned it on and don’t have to worry if you suddenly touch the screen with your palm, it won’t react.

Disadvantages of the phone:

1 - Pictures with the main camera are not ideal, especially at night, you need to be able to use many settings, and not stupidly shoot on automatic, if you rate it at 5 points, then it’s 3, but this is a smartphone camera, so for me it’s not critical, in clear weather the photos are good.
2 - I wanted 2 speakers like the HTC One, so that in nature it would scream like a radio (nitpicking))

Comment about the phone:

After 2 months I am completely satisfied with the device, for me it is practically a replacement for a computer outside the home, the screen is large, so ease of use is maximum, the battery lasts reliably for 1.5/2 days. A smartphone being in a jeans pocket is not noticeable at all and does not cause any inconvenience.
I have never put phones in stupid bulky cases or made crummy films, and I will also use this one exclusively naked) The device should be easy to use in everything, incl. and from tactile sensations. After 7 months, One SV still looks like new, the screen is intact because it is protected by high-quality glass, there are plenty of reviews of this glass on YouTube and it’s all true. So if you don’t drop your smartphone on the street, don’t carry small things and keys in your pocket with your smartphone, and don’t pour sand into your pocket, then your smartphone will be like new in a year or two.
If it’s difficult for you to do this, then just glue some cellophane on it, put on plastic bumpers, only then don’t squeal nonsense that the light and proximity sensors have stopped working, the screen is not so responsive, you can’t see anything on the screen in the sun, it glares. And that you missed the call because the phone was in a case and when you finally heard the call, you had to take it out of the case for another 5 seconds.
Overall - an excellent smartphone at a reasonable price, with a good design and pleasant durable body materials, without mega-power, but capable of playing the most sophisticated games and applications without lags, it is recommended for those who have not yet become a victim of marketing in the pursuit of 4 cores. Don’t be afraid to take the Eurotest, it is no different from the certified one here, normal stores give a normal guarantee.
If you have any additional questions, write in the discussion, I’ll try to answer)

Everything ingenious is simple. Any manufacturer, be it a Chinese noname or a giant like Samsung, having production capacity, has little to do to produce a worthy device. Draw a simple, eye-catching design, select high-quality case materials, add to this a high-quality display and productive hardware - and we get HTC One SV. And if you put a reasonable price tag on the device, then it has every chance of becoming a bestseller.

Design and arrangement of elements

The HTC One SV looks great, it retains the recognition of the Taiwanese company and its belonging to the One line, but adds elegance and simplicity. Everything is in its place, even the camera module does not stick out. In general, One SV is the same, but with smaller dimensions and higher quality body materials. The biggest difference is the back cover: if it has a soft touch and creaks a little, then we are dealing with expensive plastic, like polycarbonate (still not that, but it feels cool). The assembly is reliable, there is no feeling that the lid will come loose after some time. There is a 5 MP camera with flash, a speaker and logos on it, and an NFC antenna on the reverse side.

On top is a 3.5 mm jack for a headset, an additional microphone and a power/lock button. On the left is empty, on the right are keys for controlling the volume. Below is the main microphone and an inverted Micro USB slot. On the front there is a 4.3-inch Super LCD2 display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, a large hole for the earpiece (it contains light sensors, proximity sensors and a missed events indicator), 3 control keys and a front camera (unlike, there is one here) .

The lock button comfortably protrudes from the body and responds well to pressing, which cannot be said about the volume rocker. True, there are also opposing opinions online: some speak well of the volume keys and criticize the lock button. So we can come to the conclusion that different copies can give you different impressions of the keys, and when choosing a phone in a store, you should pay attention to this. Ergonomics are generally excellent, the 4.3-inch display makes itself felt, plus, due to the beveled edges on the sides, the phone feels thinner than it actually is.

Display

As usual, UI Sense has a lot of nice touches (like a standard keyboard that supports Swype, and even a typing calibration tool that lets you customize your keyboard). Fans of cloud storage will love that Dropbox is pre-installed on the smartphone (the user receives 25 GB of online storage space for a period of 2 years). Also, interesting things about the phone are that it comes pre-installed with Evernote, Polaris Office, the HTC Rescue service for remotely diagnosing problems with your smartphone, and many useful widgets. The battery in One SV is 1800 mAh. The manufacturer has not officially stated the operating time, and this can be justified by the fact that it varies greatly depending on what networks you are working on, since the phone supports both 3G and LTE. In GSM+Wi-Fi mode with an above-average load, by late evening I had about 40% charge left.

Conclusion

The Taiwanese had a slight mishap with naming. Smartphones

What I didn't like

Large in size. The glass is scratched. Fell on the tile and, alas, a cobweb appeared. Replacing the glass costs half the phone. Bad camera (both)

What I liked

Fast, beautiful. In general, it corresponds to what was stated.

What I didn't like

Honestly, if you are not an advanced user and are encountering Android for the first time, there will be a million, or even more, disadvantages...
1. Battery....this is terrible! it lasts from 4 to 6 hours, average use
2. Native music player....
all your music will be in scribbles, it is quite complex in itself... you need to download a new one..
3. The system is very heavy, it’s not clear where the files are, if you downloaded anything, you can spend half a day looking for the file you need..
4. Camera..
I had a better camera on my old Nokia, -8mp, there are simply no words........
5. Memory...
The internal memory, for some reason, was divided into half, 4 GB each.
and only on this one half, you can install applications, games.... everything you download (((I don’t know what they were thinking.
6. To connect to a PC (and transfer music, pictures, etc.) I even had to call a technician.... as it turned out, my computer is old and the phone does not accept it, or vice versa.. In short, they are not compatible) ) I had to reinstall Windows, install a bunch of programs, it was a hassle for three days...
7. The lock button... It’s very inconvenient, while you press it, you’ll press the thread, or you’ll even call someone
8. SMS menu... not convenient. Only all SMS messages are shown..
no inbox, outbox, delivery report
9. the body itself is not very comfortable in the hand, you can’t hold it in one hand or palm for a long time..

What I liked

In fact, there are not many of them. Maybe the screen, the brightness of the display, or the HTC brand itself.

What I didn't like

I took the phone for work (I needed 2 SIM, Android) - I talk for a total of 3-4 hours a day + a little internet - by the end of the day the phone is discharged, I have to carry a charger
Another disadvantage is the lock button at the top, but I’m already used to it

What I liked

perfect work for 2 sims, no brakes, easy to use, the back cover, unlike Samsung, does not slide - very convenient.

What I didn't like

Very quiet
-no indication when charging (i.e. if you receive a message and your phone is charging, you won’t know about it)
-The phone is absolutely inconvenient to use. HTC doesn't bother with ergonomics at all
-beatsaudio - the sound is terrible in headphones. The upper frequencies fall off. There are no audio settings (well, except for sound volume)

What I liked

Assembly - glass - 4g

What I didn't like

no adobe flash player...installed in hardware but not supported
internal memory device.

What I liked

fast, light, doesn't slow down, nice device

What I didn't like

Poor quality of body coating
Broken

What I liked

An ordinary, solid-looking HTC, everything is as usual

What I didn't like

sometimes it slows down.
The main problem is that it switches off spontaneously. It started after a month of use. It may turn off during a conversation or while using applications.

What I liked

everything works fast enough, good design. It was very convenient to use until I installed Sense 5.

What I didn't like

After active use (a month or two), I began to notice the battery was simply leaking! The battery is weak, well, this is, in principle, a problem with all htcs. I would like a better camera, if you photograph small text, you can’t see everything very well, it takes a long time to focus. Well, I don’t know how to explain it, maybe a problem in the assembly or the fact that the back panel is made of plastic... after falling from a low height, it turned off, then turned on while charging, began to get very hot, and after the battery died it turned off completely and would not turn on. Wherever I took it, no one knows what with him... it’s a pity, of course, in short, it’s a fragile phone!))

What I liked

Overall the phone is good! I had it for almost a year, the camera is good, no glitches! Excellent phone

What I didn't like

The lock button on the top is not convenient, the back edge sticks out, and the button is small, after 50-70 calls a day I want to go through the top edge with a file, from now on I will only take mobile phones with an on button on the side or under the screen so that it is convenient to use with one hand
Andryusha 4.0.4 is terrible, can be treated with Go launcher EX
They can’t hear me well, the quality of communication is low (MTS corporation, new SIM card), I’m sure replacing the radio module would help, but rooting and installing 4.1.2 is still scary and difficult, there’s a chance you’ll get bricked

What I liked

excellent colorful screen

What I didn't like

only 4 gigs of memory is impossible, install root, battery doesn’t last well

What I liked

good case, bitz audio and 4g lte

What I didn't like

Bad camera

What I liked

Doesn't slow down, good design

What I didn't like

The camera is bad, there is either no stabilization or it doesn’t work! The battery is weak, the speaker and microphone are weak. Loses the communication signal!
