How to find a domain name? Come up with it yourself or use the help of our system - domain name analyzer. The website address is formed from two main parts (name + domain zone), separated by a dot: mysite.com; mysite.rus. A zone can also be made up of parts separated by a dot: mysite.msk.su; mysite.pp.ru. If a web resource is aimed at foreign countries, it is preferable to use names consisting of Latin characters. Cyrillic is allowed in limited Russian areas. How to choose the right domain? Strictly following the recommendations.

The domain name must:

  • be sonorous but simple;
  • easy to read
  • be remembered the first time;
  • be relatively short: 3–10 characters (total 63 characters allowed),
  • reflect the theme of the site so that users immediately understand where they are.
How to check if a domain is busy? Enter an invented name or main keyword (thematic) into the search bar. Check the boxes next to the desired zones. Run the scan. If the domain is available, it is advisable to buy it immediately. If you are busy, the analyzer will offer options that are similar in spelling, from which you select the appropriate one. You may like the system generated name more. Take this opportunity and look through all the options.

The right domain

A well-chosen name for a web resource automatically becomes a brand and improves the reputation of the project. The attitude of visitors depends on its sonority and semantic meaning. Websites with memorable domain names are easier to promote: they are easily recognizable and users are more likely to visit them. Register a domain, carefully thinking through the name. When a website becomes famous, changing the name is unprofitable - it’s easy to lose traffic, partners, and clients. Large companies should register their name in different commercial zones to avoid competition. If it is easy to make a mistake in spelling a name, register all possible variants of distortions (type domains) and make a 301 redirect to the main project. Our service checks domains in all zones. When monitoring, the available options are visible - it’s easy to select names for several resources. Some geographical (nov.ru, org.ru, su.net) or new zones (club, online, best, trade) are little used, there are much more opportunities there.

Register a domain for the desired period (1-10 years) immediately after verification, while it is not taken. Placing a wholesale order (several sites in one zone or one name in different zones) will take much less time and will have a beneficial effect on the cost.

Rules for choosing a domain name

Our domain name selection system helps you find the best name for your website.

We understand that you are a busy person, so we tried to make the process of selecting and registering domains as simple and fast as possible. You can check domains in several domain zones at the same time. To do this, in the domain name field, enter the full domain name, for example test.com, or only part of it, for example test. We are ready to offer you both the most common domain zones and specialized domains for your business. Our domain selection system will analyze the selected name in various domain zones, and also offer its own options based on a dictionary of synonyms and their translation. The name can be specified in Latin or Cyrillic characters; they cannot be mixed together.

In order not to take up a lot of your time, all domain check results are grouped into two tabs “Main result” and “Alternative”. Just add the names you like to your cart. Domains cannot be reserved, so once domain names have been selected, we recommend that payment be made as soon as possible.

Are the domain names I select reserved?

The name cannot be reserved. Until the domain is registered, it is available for registration to anyone on the Internet. Therefore, we recommend paying for the name immediately after you have selected domains for yourself.

When checking if a domain is free, you need to remember:

    Several people can apply for domain registration at the same time, both in our company and from other registrars. Registration will be carried out on the one whose payment is received first. Therefore, after the domain name has been verified and an invoice has been received, it is better not to delay payment.

    Applications for domain registration for which payment has not been received during the validity of the invoice agreement are removed from the queue.

    If it is impossible to register a domain name, after receipt of payment, funds are automatically credited to the user’s balance. If desired, funds can be returned to the subscriber in the same way he made the payment.

    When checking the availability of a domain, pay attention to the special registration conditions. If such conditions exist, information about this will be to the right of the name of the domain being checked.

You will feel comfortable with us.

FREEhost.UA is not only one of the largest domain name registrars in Ukraine, we also provide hosting services. Therefore, by choosing our company, you receive a full range of services for doing business on the Internet. And our 24/7 support is always ready to help resolve any issues that may arise.

Why is this necessary?

The mass domain occupancy check service allows you to immediately check with a list whether the selected names are available. This is necessary to register a large number of sites or to select a free zone for the desired address. When creating an Internet project, you may have several options for names for it; to check all of them, just make a list and copy it into the field above. In order for the program to understand your options, you need to separate the names with commas or spaces. After verification, you will receive information about all entered names, namely:

  • status – free or busy;
  • price;
  • domain type and name;
  • availability of purchase.
  • Why check a domain in different zones?

    Before registering a domain, you need to find out if it is available. For example, the selected site name may not be available in the desired zone, so you can check the availability of the domain in other zones. For example, the required site address looks like this, site.ru, but it is busy, you can look at other suitable domains - .com, .org, etc.

    Carrying out such a check manually takes a lot of time. On www.site you can simply enter the site name you are interested in and see in which domain zones it is available. It's possible that site.com will sound better than the original. These options should also be considered before looking at and securing a domain name. Moreover, the verification will only take a few seconds and will not require any financial investment from you. After it, you will see the possibility of a name belonging to a particular zone.

    Why register many domains at once?

    There are many reasons; most often, registering domains in bulk can be part of the creation of several Internet resources. In this case, quick monitoring will be very convenient, since you can immediately see the entire list of available domain names in the selected zones.

    It happens that a large international company wants to purchase several domains at once. They do this so that each region in which the organization operates has its own website with an original name. For example, a Russian company wants to operate in China and Kazakhstan in the future, then it needs to immediately register three identical addresses in these zones, namely, .ru, .kz, .cn. They do this so that in the future these same names will not be occupied, and the company will have its own website in each region.

    How to check if a domain is busy in all zones?

    Simply enter your chosen name in the field at the top. The program will search for the specified name in all domain zones and show you which of them are available for registration. The check lasts a few seconds, although a deep domain search covers several hundred domain zones.

    When the verification of a domain name, one or more, is completed, you can immediately add free domains for purchase to your personal cart. In order to do this, you need to click on the corresponding button to the right of the results. Then enter your details and pay for the order. If you need many domains at once, it is best to order them in bulk all together. By purchasing each domain separately, you will have to enter the necessary information each time, and also pay for each one personally.

    You can combine an order by several criteria, for example, by site name. In this case, the order must be made for one name in several domain zones. You can also buy a number of different domain names, but in one zone, such as .ru, .com, .biz, .net and so on. By combining your order this way, you will save time on placing your order. There is a discount on our website for wholesale buyers, this is another reason to buy domain names in bulk.

    Hello, dear readers of the blog site. We have already discussed it, sorted it out and even found out where it is possible. All this is wonderful. The site needs to be hosted somewhere and the choice of hosting is very important in this regard. But the site also needs a name (domain). Without this, nothing will work.

    However, the problem is that every year it becomes more and more difficult to find something more or less intelligible. At the moment, about half a billion domain names are already registered in the world and this number is constantly increasing.

    Do you have any ideas for a future name for the site? Great, all that remains is to check if it is still busy (see how to do this below). By the way, some hunt, because there, along with a good name, you can get a little more residual weight from the site previously posted on it. But first things first.

    The problem with selecting domains and why they need to be checked?

    So, your future (or existing, for example) website needs a name. You yourself understand that in many ways it will determine the fate of the Internet project (whatever you call the boat, that’s how it will float). But the problem is that everything more or less sonorous and cool has already been taken apart (at least in popular domain zones). It looks like a situation where everything is already taken.

    Agree that the variant name for the site 3lsl6lshf9940dk0.ru looks original (and with a 100% probability will not be taken by anyone), but it is unlikely that anyone will be able to reproduce this from memory. And this is very important - domain memorability. Here it would be logical to give the site some short name to make it easier to remember and type.

    But many years ago, almost all domain zones ran out of free three-character domain names (such as 2IP) and now they can only be bought from cybersquatters (domain speculators who buy the most promising options with the hope of future resale) for crazy money. Agree that this is not our method. The same goes for four-character domain names.

    This means that we have only one way left - to use our imagination to the maximum and try to come up with something that others have not thought of or have not thought in this direction at all. All in all, creativity is welcome. It took me probably two days to select a domain for my blog. I checked a lot of options - everything was already taken. This name came to mind (Andrei Mironov’s song was spinning in my head), I checked it and was incredibly surprised that it was free.

    Where can I check if a domain is available (to find a free one)?

    All registrars take data about whether a particular domain is free from one database (access to it is obtained using the protocol that I already wrote about), so it doesn’t matter which registrar you check with. Let it be REG.RU(the oldest registrar in RuNet). Below, by the way, is a form that allows you to check a domain name for popular zones in RuNet:

    The domain can be entered without a zone (i.e. vasypupkin). As a result, you will be transferred to the Reg.ru website, where the zones where this name is already taken will be highlighted in red, and in green - where it is free (you can buy it right there, because they can get ahead of you). This form supports verification only in RuNet zones, that is:

    1. ru - originally assigned to Russia
    2. su is a remnant left over from the Soviet Union and now represents the space of resources in Russian
    3. рф - domains in the national language (in our case, Russian).

    Checking domain availability in several domain zones

    Naturally, you can choose a future name for your site in any other domain zones, for example, publicly available (.com, .info, .org, .net, etc.). Your right. To do this you can go to this page reg.ru and enter the desired name (without zone) in the search bar:

    It will be enough just to check the boxes next to those domain zones where the check will take place (in total there are more than seven hundred of them available). Here again, it’s a double-edged sword - take a good domain in a not very suitable zone, or a not very good one, but in your home zone. Read about this below.

    As a result, the registrar will give you information about which of the zones you selected for verification have vacancies according to the parameters you specified:

    By default, the system selects (adds to cart) all free domains, but, of course, this will be unnecessary. If you decide to buy, then buy one thing (although many people buy the same domains in other popular zones, to avoid it, so to speak). In the screenshot I chose the RU zone, which is quite logical and affordable. All you have to do is click on the “Register” button below.

    I also advise you to use the tips and tools from the page " Help in selecting domains"

    Quite convenient tools that allow you to partially replace rich imagination and creativity.

    As I already said, this is not a simple matter. I mean, registering a domain name isn't hard (or expensive), but the problem is that many of your ideas have already been implemented by someone else.

    Is there some more a number of nuances when choosing a domain that I would like to voice (partly, but still based on experience):

    1. It is quite logical for a site aimed at the RuNet audience to be located in the appropriate domain zone. As I said above - this is RU, or at worst - SU (although this is less desirable, because not everyone knows that this is also “our” zone). In general, I personally support the RU zone. Here the prices are lower, and the area is 100% recognizable.
    2. I would not select a domain in the zone RF. The apparent simplicity of this solution hides many pitfalls. Yes, I registered someone new.. It’s just that for search engines and other services necessary for promotion, this name looks like this - xn--80aedhwdrbcedeb8b2k.xn--p1ai. Nightmare, isn't it? Although, if you don't care, then...
    3. The words from which the selected domain name is formed are usually written together, or, in extreme cases, separated by the sign "dash". The second option is considered “ ” and it makes sense to use it only when all other options are already taken, and you really want to get a domain in the right zone and with the right words.
    4. By the way, for all zones except national ones (such as the Russian Federation), you can only use combinations of Latin characters and some acceptable characters (,,,[_],[-]. As I said above, if the “cool” option is already taken, then you can use dashes to separate words Some people also use underscore, but this is not ice at all, because it is not really visible in the address bar and misunderstandings may arise.
    5. I also wanted to say about the words that are part of the domain name being verified. Once upon a time, search engines ranked better sites where the domain contained keywords, on which this site was promoted. This is not the case now. At best, there will be no effect from this, and at worst, there will be a filter or pessimization. Therefore, you should not choose a name for a site like “kvartiri-v-moskve-arenda.ru”, but rather use the name of a company or something else creative (domain memorability is the main thing).

    Selecting a suitable option among available domains

    At the beginning of the publication I already mentioned that if you I can't find a suitable free domain, then you can look for something on the “secondary market”. Yes, yes, domain names can also be used. After all, they need to be renewed every year, and if you are late with payment by at least a month, then the domain name is put up for sale (at auction, as a rule).

    Moreover, they can cost significantly more than newregs. Why?

    1. Well, firstly, for the most part they already represent something meaningful and digestible.
    2. And, secondly, they sometimes retain residual weight in search engines (links placed on them are valid, there is a TIC and PR).

    If you create a site on a similar topic on it (or restore a previously existing one using ), then it may have a greater chance of success than a newly registered domain. In any case, it will be more expensive to sell links from it if you plan to make money from this.

    You can buy a vacant domain at registrar auctions. One of the most famous is Registration of vacant domains.ru. Below are some offers of such a plan from Reg.Ru (for a detailed view, click on the price):

    How to check a domain for availability, search engine filters and other troubles? How should legal aspects be considered when selecting and vetting a domain?

    What are the stages of domain verification?

      1. You need to check if the domain is busy.
      2. Checking for search engine filters.
      3. Checking domain history using whois
      4. Checking the domain link profile
      5. Check for “glue” if parameters are important
      6. Legal check for the presence of trademarks and commercial designations

    1. Check the domain name for availability

    The procedure for checking a domain's availability is to find out if the selected domain has an administrator.

    A domain name administrator is a person who manages a domain, that is:

    • has an agreement with the registrar (not necessarily a paper one);
    • manages the domain (assigns NS records, renews, redirects, etc.).

    By purchasing a domain name, you will also become not its owner, but its administrator.

    Data about domain name administrators is stored in special registrar databases. There are a lot of registrars, but in order to systematize information about domains, a special protocol was created for access to all databases - WHOIS.

    Where can I check if a domain is free?

    You can check whether a domain is occupied through any domain name registrar.

    The most popular domain name registrars in Russia are NIC.RU and REG.RU.

    Each registrar has a search field to check if a domain is available.

    They are not the best, but I also use their services. Each recorder is good for its purpose. Some are distinguished by their reliability, others by the cost of domain names, and others by convenient payment methods.

    BUT! There is one nuance here. It happens that the selected domain name, when checked through one registrar, is indicated as “occupied”, while through another registrar it is free, but has “premium” status.

    If the domain is taken, is this the end?

    No, it's not over yet.

    Firstly, a lot of beautiful domains have been intercepted by cybersquatters or simply “resellers” for subsequent resale. Usually, when you click on such domains, instead of a website, you will see a “stub” with an offer to buy a domain.

    Secondly, nothing prevents you from contacting the domain name administrator through whois contacts and offering to sell the domain. Many will agree to do this.

    Third, there are now a lot of domain zones - in addition to ru, there are international zones and many “thematic” zones (.shop, .cafe, .marketing). Pay attention to them too.

    2. Checking the domain name for search engine filters

    This is the most difficult part of the test, for which there are no universal tools. Search engines, fighting with unscrupulous site owners, introduce various filters (for example, AGS for Yandex or Panda for Google).

    One of the verification options is to register a domain at your own risk (fortunately, domains are relatively inexpensive), place one page instead of a full-fledged website, and add the site to Google Webmaster Tools and Yandex Webmaster. Both services have a section with a list of some of the filters of these search engines.

    But the webmaster does not receive any notifications about the application of most filters. They can only be known by indirect signs.

    Before developing a website on a domain, I would recommend paying attention to the following details:

    • whether this domain has been registered by anyone before (see how to do this in step 3);
    • whether there was a website on the domain;
    • how successful the site was in terms of search engine traffic;
    • how “human” was the content on the site;
    • How natural is the link profile (incoming links to the site);
    • how well the content and link profile of the previous site corresponds to your topic.

    All this is difficult for a beginner to understand. It’s better to contact a professional before investing in a website for its promotion - otherwise everything may go down the drain.

    An abandoned domain with a previously successful website already raises suspicion. In this case, there is a very high probability that the site has fallen under search engine filters.

    3. Checking domain history

    For domains in the ru, su, рф zones, there are special services where you can check the domain to see who previously owned it. Here you can check the age of the domain - when it was registered for the first time and when it was registered by the last owner.

    What should you pay attention to here?
    how many times the domain owner has changed;
    whether there were periods of time when the domain was free.

    However, for other zones with viewing domain history, the situation is a little more complicated.

    Also, in Yandex or Google searches, there may be some pages that have not yet fallen out of the index.

    4. Checking the domain link profile

    The point of this procedure is to find and analyze as many incoming links to the domain as possible.

    Firstly, their presence most likely indicates that the domain name was previously registered by someone.

    Useful services for link analysis:

      linkpad.ru
      xtool.ru
      ahrefs.com

    What to pay attention to:

    • how many links there are to your domain;
    • how many sites do the links come from?
    • how many unique IP addresses do links come from?
    • ratio of anchor/non-anchor links;
    • ratio of links from profiles/catalogs/articles;
    • spamming of donors and others.

    5. Checking the domain for gluing

    Such a check is useful if you are registering a domain with a non-zero TIC (they usually cost much more).

    And very often such TIC for domains is not real, but “glued on”. In the future, such a TIC “falls off”.

    Here I will not dwell in detail on the very essence of the “glue”, but will simply provide one of the services for checking:

    6. Legal verification of the domain

    Such a check is mandatory (!) if you are going to develop a serious project from which you plan to receive money. Otherwise, you may have problems - you may be forced to pay compensation of up to 5 million through the court and the domain will be taken away. I'm not even talking about the fact that you may not be able to register your trademark corresponding to the domain.

    Minimum check:
    — through the service https://egrul.nalog.ru/ for the presence of registered business names that are confusingly similar to your domain (for legal entities);
    — through the service http://ptn.su/Patent/Otkritie_reestry_Fips_Rospatenta.html to search for trademarks that are confusingly similar;
    - through a search in Yandex and Google for the presence of companies using commercial designations that are confusingly similar to the domain name.
