Today I want to tell you how to update the software of the MTS “Connect-Manager” modem. Not because I can do this better than the provider’s support service, but because not all of the instructions sent in SMS went according to plan.
Recently, the speed of the Internet connection has been absolutely no good, and it started suddenly: everything was fine in the evening, connected in the morning - not a single page loaded on the first try. There are failures in MTS, so I endured it for a day, and on the second I asked for help by calling 8 800 250 0890 (free call within Russia from any operator) or 0890 from an MTS number. Everything is fine - the provider did not set any restrictions on my number, there are no glitches. And there is no speed - zero point zero kbit.
Along the way, I reinstalled the Connect Manager program several times, changing the ports - to no avail. I even tried to restore the OS. The error had to be looked for on the computer if the provider was sure that everything was in order.
Going to the office also did not give anything, except for changing the SIM card, which I asked for myself. But the office employee told me that I could ask the same phone number listed above to update the modem software. I thought I’d call and they’ll update everything from there. Received instructions via SMS and verbally. It seemed to me that all of it was clearly recorded in my memory, but in reality it was not. Or there was some moment missing from it. Now, in order, what needs to be done to update the modem software.
- Turn off the Internet and disconnect the modem.
- Uninstall the Connect Manager program via Control Panel → Programs and Features → Connect Manager → uninstall.
- To restart a computer!
- Connect the modem and install the program again.
- Disable antivirus!
- Connect to the Internet for about 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, connect the antivirus and use the browser.
This is where I had a small glitch. As soon as the antivirus was connected, the Internet connection was interrupted, and repeated connections produced error 619.
Having gone to the Network and Sharing Center in the Control Panel, I discovered that the computer did not see my modem. All that's left to do is show him.
Select “Set up a new connection”
Select “Set up a telephone connection” and click “Next”
