Step 12. Click "add".

Step 13. Now, in the task bar, you have the option to choose between Japanese and previously installed languages.

Step 14... After selecting Japanese, a new menu bar will appear in which you must first select an input method.

Step 15. Specify the "direct" parameter (keyboard input) and choose one of the two syllabic alphabet katakanu or hiraganu. I advise you to choose haragana, since it is not necessary to switch to the appropriate layout to enter words in katakana: if, according to the rules of the Japanese language, a word should be written in katakana and you entered this word correctly in Latin, the program will automatically convert it to katakana. You only need to specifically switch to katakana to enter proper names.

Step 16. To write, for example, the word 日本語 (Japanese), enter "nihongo" from the keyboard. As you enter letters, the program will automatically convert them to hiragana characters.

Step 17. When the word is entered completely, you need to press the spacebar and the program will automatically replace the haragana with hieroglyphs. If it was not possible to fully recognize the word, the program will offer you a list of hieroglyphs with the same sound so that you can choose the appropriate one yourself.

Step 18. We get the desired result.

phone keyboard for japanese
Uage keyboard.japanese is for all Japanese language users who want to type in Japanese and share and send Japanese text.

This question is asked to me regularly, so I decided to explain this matter in detail. Even if you know how to do this, I advise you to look under the cat, at the end of the post I talked about two useful options that are not very widely known even among Japanese typists..

And the good news right away: no additional programs need to be installed; if you have Office XP or earlier, all the necessary functions are built in there (I don’t know about older versions).

First step: set up the Japanese keyboard layout. To do this, go to the Control Panel and select Regional and Language Options there. There we select the Languages tab and click the Details button. The following picture appears:

We need an icon representing the letter "A". If you click on it, the menu shown in the picture will drop out. Here you can choose the alphabet that will display on the screen what you type on the Japanese keyboard - hiragana or katakana (from the latter, I usually use Full-width).

Let's say they chose hiragana. Now let's go to print. Japanese words are typed in Latin letters using the classical transliteration "romaji". Everything is pretty simple here, basically the Japanese alphabet is written in Latin as it is heard: a, i, u, e, o, ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, etc. "I", "yu", "yo" are printed as ya, yu, yo. Syllables like "dza", "dzi" - like za, zi (or ji), zu, etc. The syllables sya (shya), syu (shu) and syo (she) are like sya, syu, syo. The letter う (y), expressing a long sound - respectively, with the letter u. In katakana, where vowel length is indicated by a long bar (––), press the hyphen key. A pause before a consonant, represented in Japanese by a small letter つ (tsu), is written by doubling the subsequent consonant. Particles は ("wa", which is the same spelling with "ha") and を (o) are printed as ha and wo, and the letter わ (wa) as wa. If you forgot something, then any syllable can be easily picked up by analogy.

Thus, if you want to write "Hokkaido" in Japanese, you type:

hokkaidou, and the computer itself reformats it like this (the u at the end means a long sound):

ほっかいどう.

Japanese letters will be underlined with a dotted line during printing. This means that the computer expects further action from you - leave the word as it is, in alphabet, or reformat it into hieroglyphs. To leave the alphabet, you need to press Enter, and to convert to kanji (hieroglyphs), press the space bar. The word will be automatically translated into the version of the kanji that seems to the computer the most suitable / frequently encountered. If you do not need this option, press the spacebar again, and a menu pops up - a list of all available options. Choose the one you want and press Enter. If you don't have what you need, check what you typed in the alphabet, the program is sensitive to subtleties such as vowel length, etc.

In our case, when you press the space bar, the word "Hokkaido" is immediately written in correct hieroglyphs:

That, in fact, is all. And now - a couple of bonuses.

1. We make the transcription of the hieroglyphic text in the alphabet

Suppose you have a text written in kanji on your computer, but how it all reads is not clear. I wish I had the same thing recorded by hiragana. Nothing easier: select the text, then go to the Format / Asian layout menu (Format / Markup for East Asian languages) and there, in the drop-down menu, select Phonetic Guide. A viewing window appears in which you can format the type of recording. By clicking OK, we get the following:

北海道 (ほっかいどう) .
Unfortunately, the program does not always give the correct version. You can view other suggested options in the mentioned window by clicking the Default readings button, but if you yourself know how the word is read, then the correct reading can be typed in the appropriate field (top left in the same window).

It's funny, but the program performs the same procedure for the Russian text! It looks like this:

Looks like (ヴ ぇ ー ぅ い げ ー え る や ー で ー い) this (え ー て ー お ー) so (て ー あ ー) ... Crap is complete, but if you want, you can manually tweak it: crap (ほ れ に) full (ぽ る な や).

2. We translate

Even fewer people know that it is possible to translate directly in Word, and not only from Japanese, but also other languages. Just click on the word with the right button, in the drop-down menu, select Translate ... A panel opens on the right, which offers a translation option. There you can also choose from which language. The capabilities of this translator are weak, he does not know many words, but sometimes it is useful. For this option to work, your computer must be connected to the internet.
