Step 16. To write, for example, the word 日本語 (Japanese), enter "nihongo" from the keyboard. As you enter letters, the program will automatically convert them to hiragana characters.
Step 17. When the word is entered completely, you need to press the spacebar and the program will automatically replace the haragana with hieroglyphs. If it was not possible to fully recognize the word, the program will offer you a list of hieroglyphs with the same sound so that you can choose the appropriate one yourself.

Everything is pretty simple here, basically the Japanese alphabet is written in Latin as it is heard: a, i, u, e, o, ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, etc. "I", "yu", "yo" are printed as ya, yu, yo. Syllables like "dza", "dzi" - like za, zi (or ji), zu, etc. The syllables sya (shya), syu (shu) and syo (she) are like sya, syu, syo. The letter う (y), expressing a long sound - respectively, with the letter u. In katakana, where vowel length is indicated by a long bar (––), press the hyphen key. A pause before a consonant, represented in Japanese by a small letter つ (tsu), is written by doubling the subsequent consonant. Particles は ("wa", which is the same spelling with "ha") and を (o) are printed as ha and wo, and the letter わ (wa) as wa. If you forgot something, then any syllable can be easily picked up by analogy.
Thus, if you want to write "Hokkaido" in Japanese, you type:
hokkaidou, and the computer itself reformats it like this (the u at the end means a long sound):

Japanese letters will be underlined with a dotted line during printing. This means that the computer expects further action from you - leave the word as it is, in alphabet, or reformat it into hieroglyphs. To leave the alphabet, you need to press Enter, and to convert to kanji (hieroglyphs), press the space bar. The word will be automatically translated into the version of the kanji that seems to the computer the most suitable / frequently encountered.
