A simple and understandable desire - to get a home TV that is nice to look at in every sense of the word - quickly turns into a real marketing research.

The pursuit of diagonal inches, resolution pixels and color accuracy is an integral part of the purchase in 2020. Let's try to separate the wheat from the chaff, and figure out what is still important: "checkers" in the form of a set of innovations or "riding" - a nice-looking picture?

The transition from bulky CRT TVs to compact and flat LCD panels has been one of the most notable revolutions in the TV world. After liquid crystals, plasma entered the market, but models with screens based on ionized gas were quickly discontinued, and LED TVs became ubiquitous in their place.

LCD or LED?

It is easy to get confused in abbreviations, and the Russian market, which easily replaces concepts, only aggravates the situation.

Now "LED screens" are called screens with the same liquid crystals: the fundamental difference is that the outdated fluorescent backlight of the first LCDs was replaced by a more advanced LED.

The diode array is placed either along the edges (Edge LED) or along the back plane (Direct LED) of the screen. Each type of backlight has its pros and cons, but it is believed that Direct LED distributes the glow more evenly.

LED, OLED or QLED?

With all the advantages of LED TVs, there is a serious drawback: they cannot accurately display black. With LEDs constantly illuminating all the pixels, it is impossible to achieve complete darkness, therefore, in dark scenes, LED screens noticeably divert the image from gray to purple.

The problem was solved by the invention of OLED screens (on organic light-emitting diodes), where each individual pixel emits light on its own and independently of the others. Therefore, if necessary, it simply goes out, and the black color becomes truly black.

Opens the bottom line of the ranking of the best TVs. This model is a pretty good value for money. The arsenal of this TV is a 55-inch screen that supports 4K resolution. 9. LG 49LH510V

Next on the list is TV. LG 49LH510V. The model has a 49-inch screen, which allows you to enjoy an excellent picture, and even in Full HD quality. 7. Thomson T55D18SFS-01B

Thomson T55D18SFS-01B- a modern TV with a diagonal of 43 inches, a digital tuner, a Smart TV function, Full HD support, USB and HDMI connectors. I would immediately like to note the quality of the picture of this model - it is able to satisfy the requirements of even a fastidious buyer. Also worth noting is the stylish design of the TV, which will allow it to find its place in any room, including on the wall. Thomson T55D18SFS-01B has established itself as a high-quality TV model with a good image and an interesting design. As such, this TV did not have any cons, and if you take into account its cost, then the price-quality ratio is at its best.

The excellent 49-inch TV has also received its share of attention, which in terms of image quality is not inferior to its competitors from Samsung and LG. Many users note an affordable price for a model of this quality. Support for 4K-pictures allows you not only to display an excellent image, but also to give it realism. From the equipment: TV tuner, USB and HDMI connectors, wall mount is already included. No significant shortcomings have been identified, but if you find fault, you can highlight the lack of Smart TV (although not everyone uses it, and for whom it is important, they will simply consider another model).

It occupies the 5th line in the list of the top 10 "best TVs of 2017". The 50-inch screen of this model is simply designed to captivate the eyes! The image quality is Ultra HD (the same 4K standard), a wide color gamut allows not only to display a high-resolution image on the screen (which will make it possible to see all the subtleties of each frame, and in combination with gorgeous color reproduction creates excellent realism to the films and programs being watched), but also to satisfy the needs of even sophisticated audiences. The TV is equipped with a built-in Wi-Fi module and supports Smart TV. A chic choice even for a picky audience.

Finally, it came to unusual and therefore more interesting TV models. differs from all previous "participants" of this rating with its curved screen with a diagonal of 49 inches. Now support for Ultra HD and Smart TV is not a highlight, in this model it is an anti-glare screen that allows you to continue viewing without difficulty even in bright direct sunlight falling on the TV screen. The Auto Depth Enhancer function creates three-dimensionality of the image, adding realism at viewing. Quantum dot technology makes it possible to display 64 times more colors on the TV screen than is possible in most other models of this brand. Also, the Samsung UE49KS7500U TV is equipped with a Wi-Fi module and has the ability to wirelessly exchange high-quality multimedia data with mobile gadgets. An excellent model without a doubt!

This is achieved by a very thin frame around the 65-inch screen. Perhaps, the closer to the top of the rating, the less surprising is the presence of Ultra HD, Smart TV and Wi-Fi tuner on the TV. A bright and clear picture, reproduced in the smallest details, combined with rich color saturation and image volume - that's what pleases the eye. In addition, this model operates on the basis of the Android OS, which allows users to access the Internet, play content from mobile devices, and even install applications from Google Play.

Control and viewing of TV is possible even on a mobile device, for this it is enough to install the appropriate application. Android, iOS and Windows 8 are supported as operating systems. And now it's time to feel the breath of the 21st century! The TV is equipped with a voice recognition function, which will allow you to control it using not only keywords, but also whole phrases. The moment with the display of sharp movements on the screen has been perfectly worked out - now it happens with high definition, which will allow you to display all the details of the Action scene on the screen, and not “swallow” them. Now high dynamics is not a problem!

1. LG OLED55C6V

And the palm in our ranking of the best TVs in 2017 goes to LG OLED55C6V. This is a completely different level of image reproduction! The picture on this TV is reproduced with a resolution of 4K, and the level of color reproduction ... About a billion colors and shades! To date, this is the best image that the television industry can offer us. Each pixel is illuminated individually to achieve a unique level of color reproduction, sharpness and image contrast. Thanks to the concave 55-inch screen, the quality of 3D video transmission is also the best among other TV models - this is a realistic and three-dimensional image. And Smart TV technology will allow the owner of LG OLED55C6V to connect to streaming broadcasts of online cinemas and video services.

They are not so cheap as to buy the first device that comes across. It is necessary to take a responsible approach to the choice of such equipment, because several tens of thousands of rubles will have to be paid for it. It is necessary to take into account the various parameters of the TV, which affect both the image quality and the cost of the device. Which TV is better to choose according to a specialist in 2019?

Permission

HD TVs are considered obsolete. It is better to pay attention to Full HD devices that will be relevant for more than one year, or to modern Ultra HD (4K) technology. The number of pixels on a 4K device's display is 4 times that of a Full HD TV.

The main advantage of Ultra HD is considered to be a very clear image on large displays. Thanks to this, the viewer, even if he sits close to the screen, will not notice any distortion of the picture.

However, it is worth thinking carefully before buying an Ultra HD TV. Today, most television content is produced in HD/Full HD format. In view of this, it is better to purchase a Full HD device, unless, of course, you have a lot of money.

Refresh rate, color gamut, HDMI

The refresh rate, which is expressed in hertz, indicates how many times per second the image on the display is updated. The usual refresh rate is sixty hertz. For dynamic moments it is not enough, the image is interrupted, blurred. To improve the quality of dynamic scenes, manufacturers have increased the frequency by 2 times. Certain televisions have a frequency of two hundred and forty hertz. The best option is to buy a device with a frequency of one hundred and twenty hertz.

The color gamut shows the range of shades that the device is capable of displaying. Most of today's TVs support NTSC, which provides a display of 16,000,000 different colors. Of course, there are devices capable of transmitting 32,000,000 colors, but you are unlikely to feel the difference.

You also need to consider whether there are HDMI ports in the device you are purchasing. To reduce costs, manufacturers reduce the number of such connectors to 2, sometimes even to one. This is clearly not enough to connect an audio system, Blu-ray player and console at the same time.

Types of TVs

Today, TVs are divided into four main types:

  1. LCD (liquid crystal). They are very cheap. Currently, they are almost never found on sale. This is due to the not too high quality of the image shown on the display.
  2. LED (liquid crystal with a different backlight). More common than others. The picture quality is excellent, the screen is thin, the cost is acceptable.
  3. OLED. They are expensive, very thin, provide perfect image quality.
  4. QLED. Developed by Samsung. Went on sale this year. They are the main competitor of OLED, but they have a huge cost.

If you have a lot of money, get an OLED/QLED device. In all other cases, LED is considered the best option.

Curved displays, Smart TV

Curved screens were originally intended to grab the attention of consumers. Usually they are used in OLED devices. Such screens make watching TV exciting and unusual, give new sensations.

However, such displays do not have any technical advantages over ordinary ones, they have certain disadvantages. For example, due to the curvature, the viewing angle is significantly reduced. This may cause inconvenience when watching TV with several viewers sitting in a row. In addition, the brightness of the picture may vary in different parts of the screen. It is better to purchase a TV with a conventional flat display.

Smart TV allows you to connect your device to the Internet. Today, this function is present in almost any TV model, it is considered mandatory. Especially often it is used to view videos posted on YouTube on the big screen.

Sound system

Even the most modern devices can have poor sound quality. This is due to the small thickness of the TVs. There is simply no room in the case to integrate full-fledged speakers into it.

This problem can be solved in three ways:

  1. Purchase headphones (the best option if the device has 1 viewer).
  2. Buy a stereo system.
  3. Buy an audio panel or acoustic system.

If you're watching regular TV, you can use standard speakers. If you want to enjoy high-quality, clear sound while watching a movie or a football match, then you need to buy additional audio equipment.

Particular attention should be paid to a device that offers buyers the best contrast at an affordable cost. You can buy it for 80 thousand rubles. For this money, the user can get a fairly high-quality 4K image, as well as a diagonal of 48 inches.
The main advantage of the model is one of the best contrasts among its counterparts. This allows the consumer to view images and videos as close to reality as possible.

Useful video

When choosing the best TV to buy, you need to pay attention to several criteria.

First, it should be borne in mind that the era of the analog signal is already over. Now there is no need to turn the indoor or outdoor antenna to avoid interference on the screen. A modern TV of 2017 has a built-in digital tuner that allows you to watch channels in high definition and without the slightest interference. The quality will be the same as when watching a movie from a disc on a computer monitor. Since 2011, a new standard for on-air digital broadcasting DVB-T2 has appeared on the territory of Russia. You need to pay attention to the support of this format when buying if you plan to watch on-air channels. There are also other digital broadcast formats: DVB-C receives cable digital TV, DVB-S2 receives satellite digital TV.

The second point is support for a high-definition TV, since most modern channels release TV programs in this quality. There are three kinds of high resolution: HD 1366x768, Full HD 1920x1080 and 4K UHD 3840x2160. When choosing between these three, it is better to stop at Full HD, although HD will allow you to watch channels in good quality. As far as 4K goes, in 2017 it's more of a marketing gimmick than a necessity. There is very little content in this format, so it makes no sense to pay extra money for a 4K TV.

The third point is the diagonal of the screen. If the TV will stand in a large room, where there will be at least 3-4 meters to the screen, then a screen of 40-50 inches will be just right. If you plan to put a TV in a small kitchen, then a screen of 20-30 inches or even less will be more appropriate.

An optional item is the Smart TV function. This function actually turns the TV into a computer where you can watch Internet videos, listen to music, read news, etc. through the browser. Smart TVs support Wi-Fi. If you are not sure that you need the Smart TV function, then it makes no sense to pay attention to its availability when buying. If necessary, you can always buy an external set-top box and implement Smart TV functions using it.

If the manufacturer is important to you, then it is better to pay attention to the South Korean brands Samsung and LG, which occupy the top two places in the world in TV sales in 2017. Together, they account for a third of the global TV market.

Next - a rating of the best digital LCD TVs. The top 10 includes only models with support for the current DVB-T2 digital broadcasting standard. When compiling the rating, customer reviews on Yandex Market, technical specifications and the price-quality ratio were taken into account.

TV guide with a schedule of TV programs for the whole day with numbers. Writing a number to a flash drive. 1080p support. Defined player LG BD650K as 1080p/60Hz. In user mode, you can adjust the basic 3 colors. Support NTFS, 500GB hard disk easily opened. Loud enough sound. The USB player is quite fast, like LG's. 6 screen formats. From the reviews:

"The TV is just great - I also have a large LG, it was bought quite intuitively: the picture was very different in quality from all other brands. And only now, having read the preliminary reviews here, I understand what's the matter - the IPS matrix! And it's not very clear to me - why the sellers in the descriptions do not mention this important circumstance in any way, because this is not just a difference - but a radically different image: it makes no sense to talk about any viewing angles here - the picture does not change even when viewed from below, in the same plane with the screen. and perfectly tuned: for the first time in the last 20 years I did not begin to rebuild the image at all - and usually for me this is a long and painful process: to achieve more or less natural colors... Of all the settings, I only added low frequencies to the sound and turned on the virtual environment to sounded even nicer. Well, I also turned on the "Full Screen" format - now different channels completely fill the screen field. Big image cropping for channels broadcasting in 4:3 format, but in my opinion it's better than watching a small square image with large black borders on the side. The remote control is convenient, the menu is already clear - so there are also hints for each item. I don't know what else to add - I'm terribly pleased that I bought this particular TV: it's a little more expensive than its classmates, but it fully pays off with the pleasure of picture quality, level of performance and service. I am now a LG patriot :)".

You can watch videos from the Internet, you don't need to download anything. Menu works quickly, many settings, everything is in Russian. The names of the models of modern TVs are awe-inspiring: manufacturers seem to deliberately compete in the number of abbreviations designed to emphasize the unattainable heights of the next miracle of technology. And yet, in 2018, quite well-formed trends can be noticed on the TV device market - both only gaining popularity and already considered good form among the industry's flagships. We will talk about both the already familiar Ultra HD and their new variations: quantum and SUHD displays.

Oled and Qled

OLED screens continue their victorious march through technology stores. Calling the technology using organic diodes "innovative" will not work - they started working with a carbon diode film a long time ago.

However, a delicate balance between quality and reasonable price was established only a couple of years ago: OLED screens are very expensive to manufacture, so for a long time they were used only on smartphones. Finally, OLED TVs have become relatively affordable for a wide range of consumers, seriously competing with their predecessors - conventional LED screens.

It only produces its own displays using OLED technology: other brands buy a "blank" that is used in the subsequent stages of production.

Representatives of the monopoly did not like it: the Koreans decided to go their own way by patenting the technology for the production of QLED screens. Unlike "organic light-emitting diodes" OLED, QLED uses "quantum dot LEDs" - semiconductors with a size of several nanometers.

QLED and OLED screens have a lot in common: in both cases, each individual pixel emits light in isolation, without affecting the color of its neighbors. The picture of QLED TVs promises the viewer even greater brightness and saturation, but quantum dots themselves are not capable of emitting light. Due to the need for additional backlighting, QLED TVs are unlikely to get as thin as their competitors. At least in 2018, we will definitely not be pleased with QLED wallpapers.

HDR

HDR, which has entered the world of television from photography, remains one of the main trends in 2018, as evidenced by the growing amount of content and the abundance of models that support the format. There are really a lot of people who want to expand the dynamic range of the image to unthinkable depths: all the prominent new items on the TV market are sure to flaunt HDR compatibility.

SUHD TVs

Despite the fact that Samsung introduced the term SUHD back in 2015, showing a revolutionary line of TVs at CES, there is no officially confirmed decoding of the abbreviation to this day.

Because of the protracted silence, the TV fans offered the obvious option: super-ultra-high definition. Fortunately, the company's representatives are much more willing to share the technical characteristics of the lovingly nurtured new products.

Astonishing clarity, contrast and color fidelity is achieved by using nano-semiconductors or "quantum dots" already familiar from QLED screens. SUHD matrices consist of crystals of ultra-small sizes: from 1.5 to 5 nm. When a voltage is applied, the nano-crystals begin to glow, and the color of the glow depends on the particle size.

SUHD TVs promise to be successors and expand on the HDR standard. Quantum dots make color reproduction 30% more accurate than similar resolution LCD and LED counterparts.

Ultra high resolution: 4K to 8K

If HDR competes for image quality by increasing color depth, then ultra-high resolution devices take on the number of pixels.

About the imminent appearance on the consumer market of models with a resolution of 8K - that is, 7680 × 4320 pixels (or 16 times more than in Full HD), representatives of LG Electronics announced at the annual exhibition in Las Vegas. Samsung also made an announcement, but there is practically no content for 8K TVs yet (it has just begun to be produced in Japan), and the cost of devices will amount to tens of thousands of dollars.

However, already existing models, recently released to the market, can achieve a stunningly realistic image.

Samsung the Frame TV

A celebration of the design of the South Korean company - Samsung the Frame TV-picture, in itself claims to be a work of art. The Frame is reminiscent of a classic gallery piece, not only because of the stylized wood frame that frames the screen: the absence of a gap between the wall and the TV enhances the similarity.

To achieve the desired effect, all the functional elements from the screen were transferred to an external control unit, which is connected using a single inconspicuous wire.

The novelty promises to be a real find not only for cinephiles, but also for art lovers. at the request of the owner, the TV goes into “picture mode” - it starts a slide show with masterpieces of world fine art. The reproductions are offered in 4K resolution and with HDR support. The cost of aesthetic pleasure starts from 234,000 rubles. Russian buyers are offered models with 55 and 65-inch diagonals.

TV easel Sony Bravia A1

Another original novelty, Sony Bravia A, deserves the closest attention. In addition to a bunch of popular technologies: OLED screen with 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR support and already standard Smart TV, the model offers an innovative approach to acoustics.

Sony has endowed the flagship with Acoustic Surface technology, thanks to which the sound is transmitted directly from the surface of the screen.

TVs of the A1 line are even produced without speakers - the sound is generated by coils built into the back. For those who were skeptical of sound quality from the future, fears can be forgotten: the sound is powerful, and both Dolby™ Digital Plus and DTS are supported, so there is no need for a soundbar

True, not only the OLED screen will sound, but also the One Slate minimalist multifunctional stand, on which subwoofers were brought out to transmit bass and all connectors were transferred from the front panel. Due to the fact that the stand is located at the back, A1 can be either hung on the wall or installed on a cabinet - the viewer will still see only the screen, without being distracted by the components.

In the Russian market, a TV with an acoustic surface costs from 269,990 rubles (for a model with 55 inches diagonally) to 400,000 rubles for a 65-inch version.

TV-wallpaper LG OLED 65W7V

Like real pioneers, LG engineers tried to capture the imagination of the sophisticated public. And they succeeded: the TV-wallpaper, which almost coincides with the plane of the wall, looks very impressive.

Design LG OLED 65W7V evokes futuristic associations: an ultra-thin panel with 65-inch diagonal and 4K resolution is held on a special metal substrate with sewn-in magnets. We were able to minimize the thickness of the screen thanks to an external soundbar, on which all the ports were taken out, leaving only the thinnest cable on the OLED panel, which is easily disguised as a metal substrate.

An impeccable picture is provided by support for active HDR, HDR10 and HLG, as well as Dolby Vision technology. They didn’t save on the audio component either: 60-watt speakers that smoothly slide out of the soundbar when you turn on the TV support Dolby Atmos technology. The sound is directed vertically, creating a 3D effect.
