I went through many different beautiful Russian clock widgets for the Android desktop screen: weather and clocks, alarms, timers, digital, analog, Slavic and so on.
For Android, you can install simple screen additions, as well as advanced applications, thanks to which you will always be “on time”.
In the Play Market you can choose a wide variety of applications - from simple “timers” to advanced stylistic alarm clocks.
Only the choice should be based on your desires - if you are only interested in watches, then downloading applications of several megabytes does not make sense.

The most popular clock widgets for Android

It is an alarm program, clock, stopwatch and timer in one. Moreover, it has a minimalist, simple and clear interface.
The application itself consists of three screens. The first one has alarms that you can easily manage and set for the appropriate days of the week. Of course, you can also choose a personal alarm melody.
On the second screen is a classic clock. Their appearance can be changed: style and background. The last screen provides access to the stopwatch and timer.
You can easily switch between these functions using vertical gestures. There is also wonderful animation built in.
Switching between timer and stopwatch looks amazing. As if that weren't enough, every change of numbers on the watch display looks crazy.
Never before has a watch app been so eye-catching. It may sound funny, but using a timer has never been more fun.

Widgets are mini-applications that can be added to any of the home screens of an Android device. They can be either pre-installed, that is, integrated into the operating system initially, or developed by third-party developers and installed through the Google Play Store. Actually, the watches we are interested in are presented in sufficient quantities in both the first and second categories.
Method 1: Standard widgets
First of all, let's look at how to set a clock on the screen of an Android device, using the basic capabilities of the latter, that is, by selecting one of the widgets built into the mobile OS.
- Go to the screen where you want to add a clock and open the launcher menu. Most often this is done by long tapping (holding your finger) on an empty area. In the menu that appears, select "Widgets".
- Check out the list of available widgets (it includes both standard solutions and those created by third-party developers for their applications, if you already have them installed). Based on titles and previews, find in this list "Watch".
Note: In chapter "Watch" There can be just one mini-application, or several. This depends not only on the version of the Android operating system, but also on what additional capabilities the direct manufacturer has endowed the product with. So, on the device we use as an example (pure Android 8.1 OS), two clock widgets are available.
- To move the selected widget to the main screen, depending on the shell you are using, select it with a long tap and place it in a free area, or simply click on it (in this case, adding will happen automatically).
Note: If you are using a launcher other than the default one, the first time you try to add a widget to your home screen, a small pop-up window will appear asking you to allow this procedure. Click in it "Allow" and, if you don’t want to deal with this issue anymore, first check the box next to the item "Don't ask again".
- After the widget is added to the home screen, you can adjust its size if necessary. To do this, select the clock with a long tap and pull the frame that appears in the desired direction.
Once you have determined the appropriate size, click on an empty area on the screen to exit editing mode.
As you can see, there is nothing difficult about installing a clock on the screen of an Android device, especially if we are talking about a standard set of widgets. If for some reason none of them suits you, we recommend installing an application from third-party developers, which we will discuss below.
Method 2: Widgets in the Play Store
The standard app store that comes pre-installed on most Android smartphones and tablets offers a fairly wide range of clock widgets that can be installed on the home screen. Particularly popular are mini-applications that, in addition to the time, also show the weather. We'll tell you how to install and use them, but first we recommend that you read our brief overview of several such solutions.
- Launch the Play Store and tap on the search bar located in the upper area of the window.
- Enter your request "clock widget" and select the first clue from the list or simply click on the search button.
- Check out the list of results presented. If necessary, you can go to the page of each of them to evaluate the design and capabilities. To do this, simply click on the application name.
- Once you have made your choice, click "Install". We'll use the mini-application as an example "Transparent Clocks and Weather", which has a fairly high rating among Android users.
- Wait for the installation to complete, then click "Open" on the app's store page, or launch it later from your device's screen or menu.
- If the installed widget, like the one we chose, also displays the weather, the first time you launch it, you will be asked for permission to grant it access to the location. In this window, click "Allow", at least if you want the weather for your region to be displayed correctly.
When the application is launched, familiarize yourself with its capabilities, available functions and settings, at least in order to understand what it is.
- To directly add a clock widget, you will need to return to the Android home screen again and open the launcher menu. As already mentioned, this is most often done by holding your finger on the screen and selecting the appropriate item from the list of available ones.
- As in the previous method, scroll through the list of mini-applications and find the item whose name matches the one you installed from the Market.
Quite often, solutions from third-party developers contain a very extensive selection of widgets. Therefore, we recommend that you look through each of them in order to ultimately choose the most suitable one.
- Having definitely decided which clock you want to see on the screen of your smartphone or tablet, install it by moving it or using a regular tap (again, depends on the OS version and the shell used). If necessary, allow the launcher you are using to create the widget.
- Evaluate the appearance of the added widget and change its size if necessary. Please note that the ones we used as an example "Transparent Clocks and Weather" They also display the air temperature in the notification line, and there are many such applications.
As you can see, there is nothing complicated in using third-party widgets to add a clock to the main Android screen. In addition, unlike the meager set of standard solutions, the Play Market offers almost limitless possibilities for choice. You can freely try several applications at once, installing them on your device and evaluating them, and then keep only the ones you like and find most interesting.
After flashing the firmware, many Android smartphone users may experience that the clock disappears from the main screen. Typically, setting the clock and date on the main screen takes no more than a few minutes. The proposed material outlines an algorithm of actions on how to return the clock to the screen of an Android smartphone and install a similar new clock from Google Play.
How to add hours?
- Long press on an empty area of the main screen;
- In the drop-down menu, click “Widgets”;
- After clicking on the widget, hold down;
- The available main characters will appear, here drag the clock to the main screen.
In addition to adding a clock, you can also change its size. You can do this as follows:
- Press and hold the clock for a couple of seconds until you see markers around the numbers;
- All that remains is to change the size of the clock by changing the position of the markers.
Let's also look at how to move and delete clocks:
- On the main screen, hold down on the clock for a couple of seconds;
- If there is a need to change their location, drag the clock to the desired place;
- To delete, drag the selected clock to the “Delete” mark.

Widgets with graphic modules, in addition to time, usually contain a lot of additional information, such as the weather, for example. Below are the most common programs for the main screen.
Transparent clock and weather
