The best browsers for Windows 10 64 bit: rating

10.09.2021

Any person who works with a computer knows that web browsers or web browsers are used to surf the Internet (access sites). Quite a lot of them have been released for Windows 10 64 bit. This can include both your own tools built into the operating system and third-party developments. But which of all this variety is the optimal application? Let's try to consider the most popular means of accessing Internet resources, based on official ratings. It’s worth noting right away that such popularity lists are compiled based on rating companies’ own research, so the distribution of places may not correspond to user preferences. It’s not surprising, because the testers themselves also have their own preferences, and the criteria for evaluating the performance of a particular program can also vary significantly. But first things first.

The most popular browsers for Windows 10 (64 bit)

Of course, it is simply impossible to say what is better for this particular version of the system - due to the fact that users themselves choose what is easier and more convenient for them to use. However, it is still possible to highlight several main programs. Almost every user knows them, having at least once encountered the problem of choosing the appropriate software.

For 64 bit, basically, it is not much different from what was provided for use in systems of a lower rank. As usual, the top positions are occupied by such giants as Opera, Chrome, Mozilla, etc. However, it was in this version of the system that quite interesting built-in tools appeared that are not inferior to third-party software products.

Edge and Internet Explorer

These browsers for Windows 10 64 bit 2017, released in the form of installed updates, showed themselves in a very unusual way. The fact is that in terms of speed of operation and opening web pages, they are superior to third-party analogues.

Many IE users are openly dissatisfied with the default tool for accessing Internet pages previously installed on Windows systems. But few people know that the version of the browser in Windows 10 has undergone dramatic changes. First of all, this concerns the fact that the application is not used by default in the standard settings. Instead there is Edge. Both reviewers show quite good performance in both speed and ergonomics. But Edge is considered to be somewhat difficult to configure, and IE is simply not popular (apparently, a previously formed negative attitude is having an effect).

Opera

Classic browsers for Windows 10 64 bit, of course, cannot be considered without mentioning everyone’s favorite Opera. The latest version looks quite fast, stable and easy to configure.

A huge plus is the built-in VPN function, the activation of which allows you to access sites blocked in a certain region (for example, some Russian media are banned in Ukraine). The browser itself also has an activated ad blocking system (AdBlock) by default. The only downside of the program is that when VPN mode is turned on, some resources become inaccessible, although they work quite normally without it. This is nonsense.

Google Chrome

The brainchild of Google has always enjoyed deserved popularity among users. The browser works quite quickly, however, if you do not clear your browsing history regularly and do not delete temporary files, a noticeable “slowdown” begins.

Along with all this, one interesting fact can be noted: a browser is required to be installed if the user is going to install and use the RDP remote access client of the same name. In all likelihood, this is some kind of marketing ploy related to the popularization of this software product. In terms of advantages, we can also note the ease of settings and many add-ons (extensions), of which today you can find the most for this browser.

Mozilla Firefox

When considering browsers for Windows 10 64 bit, one cannot ignore the “fiery fox”, which, judging by the ratings, has recently quite ousted its competitors.

This is due to the fact that the latest versions have become less demanding on system resources and are characterized by a fairly high speed of access to Internet pages. In addition, as for Chrome, the development of additional add-ons and panels has intensified.

Chromium development

Separately, it is worth noting Russian and Chinese software developments based on the Chromium engine. Among Russian browsers, one of the first places is occupied by Yandex Browser. Windows 10 64 bit accepts it without problems. But, again, like in Chrome, without proper care, problems also begin in this browser. Apparently, this is the fate of all software products that use the above engine.

But here’s what’s really bad: the Yandex browser for Windows 10 64 bit is so actively advertised even on the company’s official website that it makes many people think about the advisability of installing it.

The same applies to the no less intrusive offer to install the Amigo browser from Mail.Ru Group. But it can be installed into the system not only if you accidentally press the wrong button when trying to download files from the Internet, but it is also present as partner software when installing already downloaded programs. The fact that not only the browser itself is installed, but also a huge number of additional applications related to popular social networks also looks quite negative. In this case, icons appear on the “Desktop”, and in the “Start” menu, and in the “Taskbar”. And the add-ons themselves are loaded along with the system; getting rid of them is quite problematic (some files are not deleted at all).

But new Chinese developments like 360 Safety Browser look very interesting. The program is very lightweight, works quickly and is extremely easy to configure. On the other hand, sometimes you may notice an unexpected reset. Again, apparently these are engine problems. However, the program is quite good. At least at first, she simply amazes with the speed of her actions.

64 bit

So what should you choose from all these programs? It’s quite difficult to give specific advice. But, if we approach this issue from a purely practical point of view, it is best to install Opera or Mozilla - only if their distributions were downloaded from official sites and do not have labels like Stable. Such versions, as a rule, are not available on official resources, but are uploaded to sites with dubious or advertising content.

But it is strictly not recommended to install programs like Amigo. Then you can simply end up with a lot of problems, and the application itself with all the accompanying components will not be so easy to remove if you don’t know exactly the order of the actions to be performed. Registry intervention will be required (at a minimum). However, this is a separate conversation.
