There is only one difference between a laptop and a regular PC: you can increase the sound on a laptop using a special keyboard shortcut. Usually these are the left and right cursor arrows + Fn. After each reboot I have to amplify it again because the sound has become quieter. Simply put, these settings are temporary, which is not very convenient and you need to constantly increase the volume on a laptop running Windows 10.
A special window is used to control the audio parameter. In addition, most users have downloaded the RealTek driver, which adds more features. For example, if there is support from the card, you can install more speakers (the so-called Surround Sound). But for the most part, mobile devices produce regular stereo - right and left channels. For this reason, setting up a laptop is no different from a desktop PC.
Checking the speakers
The authors know of at least one case where they had to laugh. I was very surprised by the very quiet sound on the Acer laptop. Already through the settings it was set to maximum, and they set it on both sides - nothing helped. At the same time, audibility through the headset was normal. It turned out that the speakers were covered with shipping film. They removed it - and everything was in place: the quiet sound on the laptop turned into excessively loud.
Thus, the first piece of advice: find a general description of the machine in the instructions, look where exactly the speakers are located. This is not such an obvious point. They can be located both on the desktop part and on the display. Check for film.
This problem is typical for small netbooks.
Adjusting the sound
Many readers will ask: what will happen if the balance of one of the speakers is raised higher (up to 100), but the overall sound is left at 50? The overall sound will change automatically. Up to 100.

Sound check
In the same snap-in, go to the Advanced tab and click test to hear the sound effect from both speakers. The call will appear first on the left channel and then on the right.
Easy adjustment with slider
Readers have already understood why we immediately went into the settings - to look at the balance at the same time. But the fastest way to adjust the sound is by left-clicking on the speaker in the tray. Set the level as required. If it is inconvenient to drag the slider with the mouse and fine adjustments are required, use the cursor keys: right and left arrows.
RealTek Driver
To gain access to advanced features, you need to install the RealTek driver. Without it, the same hardware shown above will look in the snap-ins as in the screenshot shown below.
We will download from the site realtek.com.tw. Those who are not with us should not complain later. The driver size is usually over 300 MB, so make sure you have enough space.
To tell the truth, the installation takes a long time, and at least 1.5 GB is required on the system disk (to unpack the archive).

What changed
You can see that after the Windows 10 update, nothing has changed in the audio sector of the OS. However, a lot depends on the power of the speakers. The larger it is, the greater the increase in volume. How to watch? Power can be marked in two different ways:
- Directly in watts.
- By current consumption. To convert to watts, you need to multiply it by 230 V (mains voltage).
As for the laptop's built-in speakers, the required parameter is specified in the specifications. Here is an example for Lenovo Z580.
2 integrated speakers, 2 W of power each. When you want to upgrade your hardware and buy external speakers, pay attention not only to the sound quality, but also to the power. Because on weak hardware it is useless to increase the level. Such speakers are unable to amplify the signal.
